Top notch restaurant! Good luck finding a restaurant in the neighborhood offering anything as tasty for such value... I recommend the seafood platter, containing generous portions of fried fish, scallops, shrimp, potatoes, and hush puppies, all for around $10. I used to frequent this locale, but would gladly return (just not TOO often, see below). PROS: tantalizingly delicious seafood and sides at bargain price, fast and friendly service. CONS: not much, other than the fact that with almost everything being deep fried, you'll want to approach with caution and don't overdo it. (Heavy meals, may take a toll on the digestive system in the short term and body mass in the long term.) Also, too bad they're not open 7 days a week. read more

It is more like a fish & chip fast food place. The service was not that great but consider it is a fast food I'm fine with it. The restaurant seems clean and had good amount of seatings. We ordered fish & chip with drink, seafood platter and new England clam chowder. We heard that the clam chowder was very good. We ordered a large bowl which was pretty big. But the chowder was too salty, lack of clam flavor and not very creamy. There were a lot of clams but I couldn't taste the clams. Does it make sense?! The fish was not bad. The pieces were large. Yep I went back. This place is consistently good. The guy taking the order was helpful. The order was accurate and fresh. The lady handing us the food was really nice, and gave us everything we need for a take out order, without asking. Plenty of condiments and napkins. When I got home the food was excellent. Happy wife, happy Big Tasty. Really gotta go there on the crab cake special day. I am recommending. read more

Every time we've been in, our experience has been the same. Friendly service greets us as soon as we walk in the door, our food is ready quickly and always piping hot, and the restaurant is always extremely clean. The patio is usually where we eat on a nice day; they have covered seating for those that are wanting to avoid sitting directly under the sun. Even if there were many other fast seafood options, we would still return to Marino's over anywhere else! read more

If you love Arthur Treachers like I do, you will love Marinos! They have the batter that will keep you coming back as well as the iconic chips. Hush puppies are a little different and have a sweet flavor, but still very good. They also have very good macaroni salad along with Cole slaw to choose from for sides. While the establishment is small, it is clean and spacious with the inviting decor of how AT looked. The crew here are super nice and very helpful with making your meal decision. While we still travel to Cuyahoga Falls to enjoy one of two of Ohio's remaining Arthur Treachers, Marino's will now be our local fish & chips joint! read more

I really wanted to like Marino's Seafood, but I left a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, they do belong in the market for "fast food fish", but they're not much better than Long John Silver's (in my opinion). With that said, you can't really beat the value. $9 got me the Fish Platter and an additional piece of fish. So a total of 3 pieces of fish, 2 hushpuppies and a handful of fries. Marino's does do a good job in frying their fish. Everything comes out super crispy without being too oily. My reason for giving them 3 stars is the fish itself. The batter was good, but the fish itself was somewhat bland and dry. Being a fast food-ish joint, I can't really hate on the fact that their stuff is frozen, however I can't love it either. Who knows when these little fishes were last swimming. I guess i've been spoiled by fresh fish fry. The hushpuppies and coleslaw were edible but not amazing. I guess i'm a tough customer to please. Marino's is still a good option for a fast and cheap fish & chips. The adage is true in that you get what you pay for. I'm still searching for the best fish fry in town. read more

The only disappointing part was that they don't make their own tartar sauce -- I just got a couple of Heinz tartar sauce packets. Had a great experience here today! It was my first time trying it. I went in the front door and after waiting for one person ahead of me to order I ordered 3 fish filets and 13 hush puppies for $8.90. I paid and was given my food less than a minute later. It was so incredibly fast that I was worried the food would be cold but it was perfectly hot. The fish was crunchy and the pieces were large. The hush puppies were a unique take from what I'd had before, incredibly sweet and different enough in taste from the fish to balance it out. They reheated well in both the oven and the microwave. And 13 for 1.70 is just an amazing price, you really get the value's worth. Delicious, cheap, filling, quick, and easy to reheat, I will definitely be back. read more

Omggg!!! This is the best place in town!!! They need to open up all over Columbus. But I don't mind taking the long trip it's well worth it!! Arthur Treachers Columbus cousin Decor seems to be stuck in 1982, I half expected Marty McFly to come in with his sneakers and order fish and chips to take in the delorian. I have been wanting to stop in for years. As soon as I opened the door, it took me back to 1995. My first job in high school was at the Reynoldsburg Arthur Treachers. However, this place has a Greek twist, it is like McDowells. Fish and chips are super flavorful and crispy without dripping a puddle of grease. Hush puppies taste great and fries are thick, you get the perfect amount. The place was a little dark inside and cramped but I saw they had RC Cola on tap so there's that. I came here on a whim wanting fried fish. The service is good, the restaurant is very clean! I ordered a fish n chips basket, and two crab cakes a-la carte, which were on special for the day. The fish has no flavor or seasoning. Nor does the fries. The hush puppies are OK. I also ordered the crab cakes on special, and they didn't smell too good. Texture was mushy, and once again the flavor was missing! All I could taste was a very nasty fishy smell, and maybe a dash of Old Bay seasoning. There's no strong flavors, and it's got a mushy and nasty interior. I threw them away without eating a second bite. I have no desire to ever go back. read more

Visited Marino's today for lunch. I haven't been there for years. It hasn't changed. Friendly service and the dining room was extremely clean. Once the air conditioning got repaired while I enjoyed my meal, it was the fish and chips experience I had been looking forward to. My fish was perfectly cooked and delicious, and the chips were perfectly cooked as well. I love their sweet slaw and tarter sauce ! For variety, I added one chicken patty to my 2-piece fish platter and I must say I was disappointed. I would have awarded 5 stars if I hadn't ordered the chicken. My suggestion: enjoy the friendly service and battered fried fish at Marino's, and go elsewhere for your fried chicken. read more

My first time here was so great I forgot to take a picture I tried the seafood platter and the clam chowder and boy oh boy were they good and filling to you get 1 fish fillet and 5 scallops and a few shrimp and hush puppies,and the hush puppies were some of the best I've ever had so moist inside and not dry one bit..I would definitely be coming back Edit:second time back and the food was spot on some of the best batter on there fish it is so good and flakey I ordered an extra filet both fryed perfectly and we also tried the corn balls and my fiance loved them said they were on of the best she's every had up here...they are always so busy so theyre definitely doing something right and have been around forever. only bad thing I can say is that I wish they had tables as well because the booths are a little small but that's not to bad because they have outside sitting on a nice day read more

I am so happy I finally came here! (This will be my longest review ever- as i feel very strongly about a number of things here!) The line moves quick and the food is out very quick as well. We ordered a small clam chowder, a fish and chips, 1/2 a pound of fried smelts, 1 a'la cart piece of fish, and two tap waters to dine in. The order came out to about $20. At noon on a Friday it was busy, not a ghost town, but not a long wait at all. The seating is slightly cramped inside, so I'm not sure how a wheelchair would fare or someone who is disabled. Everything but the smelts were ready within a matter of minutes, before we were even done paying. There has been some fuss about the tartar sauce in other reviews, When I went it was a serve yourself pump action bucket as was the ketchup and Cocktail sauce. I am not super picky about tartar sauce, but it doesn't seem like the usual Hellman's tartar sauce I have at home. I really appreciated it being a serve yourself pump action, because I'm a condiment pig. The cocktail left something to be desired, but I'm not really a cocktail sauce person anyway. I am from North Carolina- And there are essentially two types of hushpuppy batter: 1)The type that contains onion,2) The type that does not contain Onion. This establishment serves the type that contains onion, and much more than usual. Personally, I despise that. I will never eat their hushpuppies again. However, the texture was good- had I been the type of person who likes wretched oniony hush puppies I'm sure I would have liked them, but then I wouldn't be able to live with myself. Good news- I believe it will re-heat very well in the toaster oven for dinner tonight! The Smelts: After about 5 minutes they came out and were brought to our table. Gosh- they are beautiful! I'm Portuguese, and these are such a Portuguese treat! Seriously, it has MADE MY DAY That i got to have such good fried smelts! It's a big portion, I split them with my friend AND still brought home a handful. If you have never had them before, they are slightly fishy but not repulsive like an anchovy. they are kind of like sardines I guess might be the best description. But they are little, and you eat them in one bite and my family has always left the little stump by the tail. Don't worry about bones, the fish are so tiny you cant even feel them or taste them. And yes, the heads are cut off. And the last thing we ordered: two cups of water. (This is where I really take note of what kind of place it is and how much do they like their customers.) They gave us FULL CUPS OF WATER! Full! With lemon! Did not charge for water, didn't give us dinky kids cups filled with ice and a table spoon of water so I have to nag them 10x for refills. They respected that I have thirst but would most prefer to drink water. I gave them 4 stars rather than 5 based on the fish being good but not out of this world, and the hushpuppies being the clearly inferior choice of batter so for that it was not 100% perfect for a 5 star review. I will definitely be back! So happy to have a place like this so close, I wish I had tried them sooner! read more

Remember what your mother and/or kindergarten teacher always told you when you were younger: don't judge a book by its cover. If you manage to remember that golden rule, you're in for quite the treat at Marino's Fish & Chips. It sure doesn't look like much on the outside, and come to think of it, the inside isn't much to look at either. With its spartan cafeteria setup, complete with linoleum covered booths and a movable type menu board, you'd think you woke up in either a deleted scene from the movie "Buffalo 66" or a family diner somewhere outside of Iowa City in the early 80's. Make no bones about it, though: Fish and Chips rocks. The menu at Marino's is extensive enough to satisfy whatever dolts wander in here looking for something besides the obvious platter of deep-fried fish fillets served with a side of fries, but you'd be doing yourself a great disservice if that isn't exactly what you got. It says it on the tacky yellow sign that spins around outside during business hours, so stop kidding yourself. As soon as you indulge in said meal, you'll be darn happy you did. The fries may need a little work, but it's nothing ketchup can't fix. The fish fillets, on the other hand, are perfect when left unadulterated by the likes of tartar or cocktail sauce. The breading is both greasy and flaky, but not just perfectly so. The fish is tender and rarely mushy.
