What a big disappointment. As someone who doesn't go out often, I was really looking forward to a good meal, which didn't happen. My dad and I shared the submarine sandwich and neither of us cared for it. It literally had like two pieces of meat, some tomato sauce and a few mild peppers. Not even worth eating but we were hungry. This is the type of restaurant where you order at the register, then wait for your number to be called for pick up. Also not what we were expecting. I had never had Marion's before, but many of my friends from the Dayton area are obsessed with it. Yesterday, my sister and I stopped in at the Mason location. We had never been before so we didn't know what to expect. One thing that wasn't super clear to us, until we found a very old Yelp review, was that you go to the counter and order like at other Quick Service/Fast Food restaurants. Once we figured that part out, everything was great. We both got their lunch special, which ends at 3 PM. It was $5.99 for half of a small pizza and a drink. For an up charge you can also add a salad, which I did. They were super quick to bring our food out. My salad was ready for me before I got my drink. They don't make giant salads ahead of time and let them sit in a fridge for hours - they actually make them to order. Our pizza didn't even take 10 minutes, I don't think. While the pizza is definitely not the world's best pizza, it is far from the worst. It was decent. I had extra cheese and ham on my pizza and my sis had bacon and green peppers. Their pizzas are thin crust - as in there's barely any crust at all (which is ok with me when it comes to thin crust pizza). The extra cheese was perfect and the ham was good. My sister really enjoyed her pizza as well. The restaurant definitely gives off a 90's vibe - especially with the arcade. I'd definitely go back. The service was exceptionally friendly and quick. I was happy to see a gluten free option here and for it with the vegetarian toppings. However, the vegetarian pizza is what a carnivore must imagine vegetarians would eat. It is not made with fresh veggies, just canned stuff, including two kinds of olives and mushroom. On top of that, I nearly cracked a tooth on the pit of an olive in the pizza. The visits to various Marion's are very consistent. That's typically a good thing and apparently they have found a loyal customer base in Dayton. I like the sandwiches. The Reuben rocks. While it is not an over-stuffed, stacked high Reuben, it is very tasty. I like that the sauerkraut is indeed sauer. Their pizza? Not so much. Dayton-style pizza is a perpetual disappointment for me. The dinner/side salad is another disappointment; it is an underwhelming bowl of mostly iceberg lettuce. The interior layout is also puzzling. Stand in line, order and pay for food at one place. Go stand in yet another line and pay for drinks at a different place. It is both weird and inefficient. Most locations have a separate meeting room suitable for groups of 50 or so. Great Pizza. Surpassed my expectations compared to other marions locations I've been to, especially the Centerville one. The staff was nice, and especially with this super hot, and buff blonde guy. Never got his name though, I will be back again though, and not just for pizza . The ambiance was great. Had some good lighting. 5 big booms! Update: I got his name, turns out he doesn't like men! I picked up pizza to go tonight and it was undercooked. I brought the pizzas back inside and asked if they could heat a little longer but they could only offer a remake of the pizzas and I had plans and was unable to wait. I asked for a refund and they said they couldn't refund, the "manager" was a tall, thin teenager who was extremely rude and told me I had to contact DoorDash even though I had bought the pizza from their website. I returned and got a much better person and they were finally able to help by calling their supervisor (while the "manager" glared at me from across the room). I grew up in Dayton and am a longtime fan of Marion's but will never eat here again after this experience. If I were the owner, I'd fire the manager and get the store cleaned up ASAP. First trip in I wasn't impressed. It was flavorless to me. My husband tried it again with a friend and loved the pizza. So he dragged me back kicking and screaming- but I was so glad he did! I don't know what was different, but this time I loved it! Now it's our family favorite! The pizza tastes better there - fresh and hot from the oven. But I'm not crazy about eating there because children are allowed to run wild. It's not far from Kings Island and I think the parents are so worn out that they just want to concentrate on their beer! This was my first time experiencing Marion's, my husband grew up in the Dayton area and told me about his childhood memories of it. We ordered a pepperoni & sausage, the cheesy deluxe, and deluxe salads with creamy French dressing. I don't know what I lived the best! The crispy cheesy outer edge of the pizza, how they cut it into the perfect bite-size squares, or the salad with the delicious creamy French dressing and the tiny cheese and green olives... needless to say we will always be coming back whenever we visit Cincinnati. Tonight (Aug 10,2020) was my first time ever eating/ordering anything from Marion's Pizza. I ordered a 9 inch pepperoni pizza and my husband ordered a 9 inch deluxe. I wasn't sure what to expect. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. My husband believes it deserves a 5 star but me, not so much. I can't say that I'll be returning. The restaurant smelled good tho. It was also nice and clean. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. I still have a few slices in my box, but as far as my husband goes, he ate his entire box. That's how much he enjoyed it. I don't have much too say just that I ate it because I was hungry. I try to leave really good reviews, but I also know that reviews are important and I have to be honest. My husband found an article that listen Marion's Pizza as one of the top 10 in Cincinnati ... I'm now wondering if there was a typo? Or maybe another Marion's Pizza? The place is so dirty and gross. I swapped chairs because one was so sticky and there were smushed pieces of pizza on the floor. People seemed friendly so nothing against them. Food? So bad. The pizza is equivalent to a Tony's frozen pizza and not worth eating. We got pepperoni and onion but I'm pretty sure the onion was dried and not fresh. Salad (which is $3.25) was literally salad from a bag - but not fresh by any means. We tried to branch out with a new place and definitely will not go back. read more

I have to laugh at the people grew up with other pizza traditions who try Marion's for the first time and conclude it's awful. I've tried multiple other styles of pizza that weren't for me -- Brier Hill, for instance, which many of my family members grew up eating, is much too heavily sauced and breadlike for me. But that doesn't mean it's bad. It's just not the pizza I crave. The Dayton style is: a very thin crispy, chewy crust, a thin layer of an unsweetened sauce that contains parm, and ingredients spread edge-to-edge so there is no crust edge. If you don't like it, it's fine. But saying it's objectively "bad" is kind of silly when we're talking about a style that has been beloved for 70 years in a metro area of 600K. read more

I absolutely love this place! I live in NC and we nothing even close to Marion's. I always get the deluxe, but everything they have is very good. Their sausage is very funky crumbles and are the perfect topping! I have had many people tell me to ask if they have one of the "old ovens" available to cook your pizza in, apparently this makes it even better. In all honesty I can not confirm this because I tend to eat it faster than my taste buds can register. If you are near here, make the stop...it is well worth it. read more

My wife forces me to come here, because she's from Dayton, and they have some kind of obsession with this place. The food is garbage. It's all dry and lacks any kind of seasoning or spices. You pay for your food at one counter, then you have to pay for your drinks at a different counter. Whoever thought that was the way it should be done should be hit in the head with a hammer. The best thing about Marion's is that you can eat a delicious pizza, get it quickly without waiting on wait staff, drink a beer and let the kiddos play in the game room. This place is great for families of team gatherings. The food is good for the price and staff members are always around to help or clean something. I'm a big critic of bathrooms and believe the bathroom will tell you every thing you need to know about an establishment. The bathrooms at Marion's take me into an episode of Stranger Things. I feel like I just entered the upside down. I wouldn't be surprised if a light was blinking as if shorting out. It's definitely cleaner than most, but somewhat untidy from what is likely rude patrons or kiddos. It clearly is cleaned frequently though and that says a lot about the company's cleanliness policy. Marion's - a local for like 50 years. Had to try it. Pretty good, great toppings and thin and crispy. Love that you can go there and actually sit down to eat. I did take out, but will remember for kids night. Great for sporting event teams - lots of room. There is a game room back in the corner as well. Last night we stopped in based on reviews and pictures looked like our style pizza (thin crust). The setting is similar to like a dining hall at a theme park. You sit at a table in a big room and go up to order and they bring your food out. We started with a salad which was served quick but rather small we split ours but I'd recommend everyone get their own. Pizza was good I'd say similar to donatoes but nothing special. One big thing was that there were no refills on drinks so prepare yourself for that. We would stop here again in a pinch but nothing special. read more

Really awful pizza. I just don't get it's following. If this is Dayton's best pizza then they've been eating some pretty gnarly pizza. It tasted like cheap grocery store (I mean maybe totino's) pizza. The pizza should sell for $2.99 for a medium no more. The sauce is tomato paste straight out of a can right in front of me. No shame there. The drink line is a separate line. No free refills. I'm a late 80's baby but I've heard others say this is like eating out in 1972. I've had a number of people recommend Marion's. I commonly would hear, "I love Marion's pizza!" from people. So, after all this time, we decided to go. Wow! What a disappointment. I'm not sure what I expected, but I can say that I did expect more of a restaurant. When I walked it, I immediately felt like I was in a pizza place/cafeteria in Disney World or some other random amusement park. Four reasons I felt this: Seat yourself, pizza order and pay at one counter, drink order and pay at a completely separate counter and the PA system calling out your number as your order is ready. So, we order our pizzas and I pay for them. Then we walk over and order our fountain drinks and I pay separately for them. I will say that they have a decent selection of bottled/canned and fountain beverages as well as bottled beer/alcoholic beverages and beer on tap. You seat your self at tables in large open seating areas that have a cafeteria feel. It's not a bad thing, it just is what it is. I had a small salad with their house/Italian dressing. Nothing special but not bad. Then, "223" was called over the PA and I went to the counter to pick up my pizza. As soon as I saw it, I had a very good idea of what it was going to taste like. I'm not saying it was bad. It just wasn't great... or even very good. It was just... good enough I guess. Here's the deal; I've noted in other reviews of mine that being from Chicago admittedly makes me a pizza snob. I am. However, I'm not afraid of giving pizza a chance though. Marion's pizza was just as good, if not a little better, as a Totino's frozen pizza cooked in the over (as opposed to the microwave). It really wasn't anything special at all. The confusing thing about all of this is how many people tell me how much they like it. I'm not sure what else to say about Marion's. It is what it is. It's crap pizza but good enough to say for a birthday party or a soccer team get-together. They also have free Wi-Fi if you really want to use it. Would I go back? Not willingly. I mean, if someone was having a party there and I was invited - then sure. But that's only because I'm not rude. Other than that, I'M OUT! The ambiance felt like walking into a 90's arcade/ pizza place, the seating was amazing and full of nostalgia. As for the food, it was great, one family member ordered a sausage pepperoni pizza. The sausage was plentiful, covering the entire pizza, and was some tiny pieces, depending on your taste, that could be good or bad. There is quick service, with about 8-10 minute of waiting for our three pizzas. So not a substantial amount of time. There was a game room as well, with about 10 games in total, 25cents for the little prize turn-ey things, and $1 for the normal games like Ski Ball and Racing ( the racing car game is a little weird to play, so would not recommend to kids) and some basketball hoop game. Then you got the claw machines, which don't thankfully seem to be scamming ones like the ones you see a lot nowadays. The Garlic bread is like nothing I've seen before, there is like a square of cheese(mozzarella) in the middle of the toasted bread, they also seem to make their own Marinara sauce, which was good as well. They give you( at least for the 9") a cardboard square for your pizza, which prevents the crumbs and grease from getting on the table, which saves a LOT of frustration. The people were super nice. But the drinks, oh the drinks, 10.99 for a PITCHER of BEER, and 4.99 for a PITCHER of SODA. Like that's so cheap. For the three of us getting 9" pizzas each, one with two toppings, one with pepperoni, and one with just cheese, one beer, two sodas, and two orders of Garlic Bread, it was around $45 dollars for food and drinks read more
