During the first day of a holiday camp, the front door was unfortunately vandalized. Not their fault! Was is in their control is how they handled it. 1. We received no communication about the incident until we arrived for drop off. They should have sent an email as soon as they discovered the vandalism so we don't show up in person! 2. When I did arrive for drop off, I asked about the status of the glass replacement, code compliance, and timing for completion. The questions I asked were reasonable and directly tied to safety and planning as a working parent. Instead of receiving clear information or empathy, I was met with condescension and a dismissive attitude. At no point was there acknowledgment of the very real constraints families are navigating--jobs, schedules, and the need for reliable, high-quality educational programs like the ones Stemful provides. The conversation centered almost entirely on David's personal stress in managing the situation, rather than on transparent communication with parents who are impacted by it. He essentially told me to go away and stop asking questions. 3. When I called back later to inquire about the status of the glass, he doubled down on his attitude, said "aren't you the person that was here before?" and demanded the name of my camper so we can "get this taken care of". It was incredibly threatening in language and tone and I didn't even feel comfortable giving my child's name. While we eventually got a refund, I'm not confident that me or my camper will be treated with respect and care in David's presence.

I had no idea what I was doing when it came to finding the right preschool. But after having one conversation with the amazing director, Stef, I knew this would be a great fit. Our son started at Peekadoodle when he was about to turn 3 and the change in him over the past 2 years has been remarkable. His vocabulary and social skills exploded and his little (big) personality really started to shine. He loves all of the teachers and staff so much and really looks forward to school. He surprises us almost daily with the things he's learned! I've also been lucky enough to meet some amazing friends in the parents and staff. We'll be sad when our son is done with his time at Peekadoodle but luckily we're having another one so we get to start over. At least we have their preschool figured out!

The camp counselors - Najia, David, and Zita - were awesome. The kids were outdoors and active all day, learning about nature and the environment. Our daughter really enjoyed the field trips to Ocean Beach and Marin. As a 2 working parent family, we also appreciated the 9-5pm full day coverage (the only thing better would be an 8:30am start)! I'd highly recommend this summer camp, and look forward to returning next year.

She specifically asked to go to a camp where she could look at bugs, climb trees, and collect leaves all day long-- TFT delivered and then some! My daughter came home every day with a huge smile on her face, messy hair, dirty clothes, and lots of new facts about bugs and animals. It is exactly what you picture when you think of summer camp. The camp is well-organized. Good communication before and during camp sessions. The counselors are incredibly nice and you can tell that they love their jobs. I would happily re-enroll her at TFT next summer. Note: my daughter is fairly independent and responsible for her age. She enjoys imaginative play, makes friends easily, and speaks up when she needs help. Kids who need structure or hand-holding may not do as well in this camp.

Knowing she has many school years ahead, I wanted to give her one more year free from rigid schedules and structure. When I was searching for preschools last year, I worried about whether she would be okay without me--whether her needs would be met, and whether her voice would be heard. I was concerned that, as the youngest in a mixed-age group, she might be pushed around or overlooked. I wanted play to stay at the center of her days, with her choosing where her interests took her. Glenridge eased all of my concerns. They have an incredible focus on guiding children through social interactions. Even though she was the youngest, and her voice was soft at times, the parents in the classroom are trained to observe, narrate conflicts, and help them resolve issues on their own. And when words fail, we give them the language they need. Glenridge isn't just a place where kids are cared for--it's a place where they truly develop and thrive.

I am so, so glad we gave our kiddo another year of play and hikes into the canyon with friends rather than stricter school environment. Granted, we're fortunate that I am flexible and able to ferry him in and out, and work during the parent shifts-- and I know that can be a big lift for some families. But I hope you'll consider Glenridge, take the tour, etc if you're curious about coops. It's been fulfilling, beautiful, hard, challenging and more. He is planning to join in the fun again this summer. He really loved the staff, kids and activities. Miranda and Shelly, the leaders of Sky Kids, treat the JC's with respect and they get to enjoy many outings and adventures. They also learned about being responsible, on-time and reliable. All good things. Would you believe that one night I heard from a 13 yr old, "...Mom, I have to get to bed early. Those kids wore me out today and I am working again tomorrow. It's a lot of responsibility, you know." Highly recommend Sky Kids and I heard they are going to begin an after-school program too. I'm sure it will be a success as well.

He attended the Sky Bots and Paper Art camps. Every day was filled with fun projects (that I'd never dare to do at home for the mess they would create), as well as memorable outdoor adventures. They explored different playgrounds every day - from Rossi to Mountain Lake to Alta Plaza. And yet...my son never came back sunburnt! This is a testament to the fantastic staff of counselors and supervisors. In wrap up conversations at the end of the day, I felt they understood him even after a day or two of interactions. Would highly recommend this camp for the content and the culture.

That's how I feel about Tinkering school. My Son,6yrs old, literally talks my ear off after coming home from here. He talk about the human size Hungry-Hungry Hippo he's making out of pulleys and wood, about the working Air hockey table and how good he is getting at using real tools. Joshua and Nathan and everyone else there are kind, attentive and passionate about what they do. I leave feeling like I'm actually enriching my child's life instead of just leaving him with somebody to babysit him. Registration was easy and They are pretty good at getting back to my emails. Not sure why the bad review here said it was hard. I guess I'm just good at using a computer.

Our son attended this summer camp for the first time. We were so excited because he's always asking…read moreto build stuff using tools/power tools. Our experience was disappointing. Since the camp is an extension of Brightworks School, there are kids who know the ropes and are familiar with the way things work. Unfortunately, the camp isn't set up to really introduce kids who are new to the process of building. Every day our son came home and said he hadn't built anything because he didn't know what to build. Yes, some kids will dive right in and come up with something. Others need instruction, and that's normal. Brightworks has a reputation for being child-led to a very high degree, but I take issue with them not teaching our son about the materials and tools so he could feel comfortable and build something, which he did do on the two final days. When I asked for someone to give him some guidance or ideas, I was told they don't like to give the kids ideas because then they all do the same thing. Yes, yes, I agree, but that applies to the kids with experience, not a kid who's been there 2 days and has no idea what to do. That takes the concept of child-led too far. A school friend was with him at camp and they reported that the instructors were snappy with the kids. Sigh In addition, on their day at Crissy Field, he returned home with the worst sunburn he has ever had. When I inquired about why nobody had put sunscreen on him, I was told that they had given the kids sunscreen and he had applied it himself. He is not yet 7. He is not responsible for sunscreen application to protect his skin from damage. Adults are responsible for that. Even if he takes off his hat, it's the adults who have to enforce the safety rules. Given our experience, we asked if we could un-enroll him for the following week and get a refund. They declined, much to our disappointment.

Bravo to the group of teachers at WITW! Like a lot of kids, my little one had to adjust being away…read morefrom home. The teachers at wind in the willows stayed diligent and strategized how my little one would be able to handle being away from their mom and dad. But over these years, my child would finally grow into their own and if it weren't for the staff at WITW, I don't know how well they'd be prepared for kindergarten. As for the teaching goes, this school educates through play and it goes for show that my kid did learn better this way and was able to find a passion in arts and crafts. So when learning is part of their play, it feels like everyone naturally enjoys what they are doing. The projects the kids come out with at the end of their day are so creative and the conversations I have with my child on what happens during the day are amazing! Just like the staff here!

We formed lifelong friendships and made many sweet memories. We enjoyed parent teaching and felt lucky to have the opportunity to watch our daughter explore, learn and develop new friendships. It felt wonderful to be a part of a collective community effort with the goal of providing children with a safe and nurturing space where they can learn, grow and have fun. Miraloma is such a warm and welcoming place! I highly recommend touring in person to really appreciate Miraloma's wonderful space. The school has so many unique assets that affords unique experiences for the children like dancing on stage under a plum tree, harvesting plums from the same tree and making jam! Digging for worms and roly polys in the garden. Planting seeds, observing the growth of plants, harvesting fruits and vegetables and eating your bounty! Cooking up soups and baking cakes in the mud kitchen. Getting cozy in the book nook. Building strength and having fun on the trapeze! Challenging themselves to be brave and finally go down that fire pole. The current Director Rose and Teacher Anne (both began at Miraloma in July 2023) are highly credentialed and have decades of early childhood development experience at preschools. I have seen the tremendous passion and care they have for the children that I have never experienced before. I wish our daughter was able to have spent more time with these amazing teachers before she graduated. The play based and child led approach was wonderful and empowering for our daughter. Every day the teachers set up new and fun experiences and activities for the children, but the kids decide what they want to do. The teachers then build on and adapt the curriculum to support the interests of the kids at any given time. Kids are given the tools and freedom to explore and develop their authentic selves while knowing a loving and supportive adult is nearby if they need help. Anne and Rose are often found on the floor engaging with and connecting with the children. I would venture to say that Anne is the best preschool teacher in all of SF and she shares her insight and wisdom with families in weekly detailed updates. Parents can learn alot from both Rose and Anne. We are forever grateful to Miraloma for providing our daughter with such a wonderful foundation for learning.
