This restaurant is very popular. During our visit, the restaurant is packed with customers. We got the last table for five that can my party. The restaurant ambience is very festive. We were attracted by their daily special on the restaurant board. I got their daily special with grilled mahi mahi that top with grilled shrimp and octopus. The octopus is really good and surprisingly tasty. We also got the combo fajitas with shrimp, steak, and chicken. This is also a good dish. Overall we enjoyed our time there. The food is good. Went on Quattro de Mayo having just returned from the East coast. Some friends recommended this establishment and we are thankful to know of a good Mexican restaurant in town now that the one Mexican restaurant closed on LBK. The hostess and staff were welcoming and the menu is quite extensive. The salsa and chips were fresh and the salsa has a nice little kick to it. I ordered the chicken burrito and my wife ordered a chicken dish with grilled shrimp and onions( may have to try that next time). Both dishes had generous portions with quality white chicken breast. Both dishes were polished off as well as our beers. The interior is a bit dark but even at an odd time, the place was busy. In a strip mall with a French (Antoine's/ excellent ) and Peruvian restaurant as well. Will definitely return but not on Cinco de Mayo (LOL) this year. read more

This Mexican seafood restaurant got wide variety of food and drink menu. We got a special of the day- grill mahi-mahi with octopus and shrimp topping. This was such a delicious dish. We also got a steak chicken and shrimp fajita. It was also tasty. The side dishes- rice, beans, vegetable, salsa and chip, guacamole were all good. The material were fresh and the portion was big. The seasoning was good. Decent services and they added 20% tip on the bill because our party were 4 adults and 1 kid. The parking was easy. We also had Molcajetes Mar Y Tierra - the meats were cooked very nicely and my husband loved the cactus! Mexican Seafood!!! A visiting friend who's periodically worked in Mexico for 20 years found this restaurant and was totally impressed! They have an extensive menu of items not frequently seen in our country...as well as a selection of typical American Mexican items. My friend has had many of the dishes on the menu in their country and professed the fresh seafood dish he had was better than those in Mexico! I had Chicken Pablo with Crema ... and have since been back for it a second time. We've spread the good word and four friends have gone from LBK and love it as well, using the words 'so fresh' in their description. The vibe is great...small, clean, Hispanic run, with extremely attentive and friendly service. It's in a shopping center across from the Baltimore Orioles spring training stadium here in Sarasota. Hanging out in Sarasota and we were trying to find out a good lunch spot. This stood out since it was a Mexican seafood restaurant. We are always looking for restaurants with seafood and meat for both of us. This place has tons of seafood options. If you are looking for a seafood place that is different than the usual seafood, or beach seafood spots, this is a great option. We came in during the middle of the day. Busy and good We stepped into a busy restaurant this Friday evening for dinner. Busy but we were seated right away and for our stay many customers entered, and it seemed there was always a table available. It was loud, people enjoying themselves over good food. Popular places are often good places. Drinks and bland chips with watery salsa were dropped off while we looked over their extensive menu. My choice was Carne a la Mexicana, one of several beef dishes available. This was a good standard meal with traditional Mexican sauce, tender beef, generous in size and quite reasonably priced. Ahhh this place was so delicious! It's apart of a shopping center so I was a little thrown off but man it was so great. They offer authentic Mexican food. When we first walked in they greeted us and told us we can sit where ever we wanted. They have the tables moved apart for a safe distance. The restaurant is very clean as well. We ordered several items and meals and everything came out delicious. They were spot on with refills on our drinks as well. The green sauce is amazing. Salsa served with the chips is also really good. The burrito was enormous. Beans and rice were like any other beans and rice. The mahi portions were generous and tasty. The tamale didn't come wrapped in husks but was smothered in the green sauce which was good; however, it was a small tamale and supposedly had pork inside. Overall we enjoyed the food and would definitely go back. Cons: we were not quite finished with our meals and it was nearly 8pm. The restaurant was emptying out. I thought they must be closing because they started moving tables and sweeping the floors. I asked (because we didn't want to stay too late) and was told they close at 8:45. As we left we noticed the hours on the doors state 9PM as the closing time. It's ok I guess to start prepping to leave a little early - but what we really didn't like was the sweeping as we were trying to finish our food. read more

We just got into Tampa, and left the airport hungry. We had a taste for Mexican but was not familiar with the area. Googled for close restaurant and Mariscos's menu had everything we like, and photos looked great with good reviews. So glad we ended up here. The restaurant windows were wrapped in signage keeping the sunlight out which is a really good idea as it stayed perfectly cool. Also, It was 2pm so it was a late lunch yet every table was occupied. This place offers a lot of traditional Mexican dishes and offers the flavor I've been seeking since being here in Sarasota. So far I've had the molcajete, fajitas, and seafood enchiladas. The mocajete is my favorite! It comes piping hot to the table and offers a variety of meats, queso fresco, grilled pepper and onion. Be careful not to burn your mouth. :) Honestly, I haven't had a bad dish here yet. Like their name says, they have so many seafood options. I can't wait to try more. Things to know: It's pretty busy here. I don't know if they take reservations, but I can usually get seated in 20 minutes or less. You just have to be patient and my even be asked to wait outside since it's a small restaurant. It's not all you can eat chips so don't go eating your entire basket and expect to be refilled. :) The salsas that come with are delicious though! It might be worth ordering more. read more

Locals rave about out this place and they're not wrong. One of the closest things we have to authentic for the cuisine as well as the way more fresh seafood options than any of their competitors. Restaurant is a bit tight/small so don't go on a busy night if you're in a rush. Service is quick and efficient, not overly friendly but definitely not rude either; they're just very busy, so go in with those expectations. Our soccer team went to eat here after our second game and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It's a very small restaurant and it was packed. As a Mexican in a crave for Mexican food, this was not the right choice. Being the only table of Mexicans, it was clear the authentic touch was out the window. Being served chips and "salsa" with an overly tomato based sauce was the start of disappointment. Aguas Frescas tasted like they're made from powder mixes, nothing "Fresca" about that. A few of us at the table ordered tacos al pastor, and the first few plates of food came out we noticed what we thought was chicken in our tacos, we stood correct on it being the pork of the "Al pastor". Al pastor is a delicious marinated pork left with a beautiful bright red orange color, this "pork" looking like chicken was gray with an orange sauce barely coating it served on store bought tortillas. For charging nearly $4 a taco I expected higher quality. I've had tacos for $2 elsewhere and they made it all from scratch. Finally was brought out my rice and beans that I ordered, they came fresh out the microwave. We all know what nuked food looks like. I can assure they were microwaved. This place was overall disappointment after another. The bare minimum was having a server who was very sweet. Wanted to leave a tip just to find out servers don't take home tips. What a rip off overall of a restaurant. The one star was earned by the server. read more

Finding a taco spot on Tuesdays has been a bit tough in Sarasota! I really just need 2 things: excellent pastor meat with flavorful homemade hot sauce. For now, Mariscos is that place for us, even if I'm still paying full price for the street tacos. It's hard to call ahead for a pickup order, because they're so busy Tuesday nights--so I just show up & wait 10-15 minutes for my order. The waitress says their seafood specialties are top notch, so one of these days I will have to try some as it smells wonderful. read more
