This place was recommended by a couple of coworkers. I decided to come here on my birthday and since it was a day during the week, I'd thought the service would be great. It was a slow night when we got there. They start you off with a tostada de ceviche. It had good flavor. The server took our order, brought our food, and didn't come back to check for drink refills or see if we needed anything else. In the meantime my fiancé found a hair in his food, which made us loose our appetite. The hair was found in a tostada de ceviche that he ordered after liking the appetizer one. I was able to get a hold of the server and told her about the issue. She took the tostada with the hair away and asked if we wanted it replaced, we didn't. We asked for the check. At this point we had barely touched our food because we were just done after finding the hair. She comes back with the check and didn't take the tostada off of it. When I said that I wanted that tostada off the check, she gave me an attitude. It's not like I was asking for both plates removed. I just didn't want my fiancé to pay for the tostada that had a damn hair in it. I didn't like the service, the food that I did taste was just ok, and we found a hair in the tostada. I think it's safe to say that we won't be going back. I wanted to like this place because it's in my neighborhood, but when management doesn't even come to apologize or anything, I'm done. read more

This spot has delicious ceviches-! Taste is in point with fresh shrimp or fish! Tostadas are great appetizers with cold michelada.

FYI this place is not byob anymore and that just blew me. I came in here super happy to try out their new location (apparently it has been 5 years now) with my drinks and I can't have my drinks. My husband and I ordered a soup Mendigo and let me tell you it is bomb.com if you are hung over add chopped Serrano peppers and you are set! I wouldn't recommend this place for a big gathering it's kind of small in there but definitely a brunch with your significant other. read more

This was my first time at this new location. I arrived and put my name and phone number on the waiting list, which I was told would be 30 minutes. I waited outside in my car since their sign states they will call you when a table is available. After 30 minutes of waiting in my car I didn't get a call so I went inside and asked the lady taking reservations "how much longer did I have to wait" she responded "I went out and called your name" I told her "what's the point of leaving my number if you're not going to call me" she said I'm sorry, but I'll get you a table ASAP which she did. We finally get a table and then find out we are not allowed to bring in glass bottled beer, but yet they sell glass bottled beverages. The complimentary tostada they give you is shitty tuna fish. Not like the other seafood restaurants I've been to that give you the REAL fish ceviche. I ordered the camarones a la diabla which were nasty, they tasted like they were cooked in canned sweet tomato sauce and not spicy at all. My husband ordered the pulpo dinner which was ok. We also ordered a tray of crab legs to go, hoping they would be ready by the time we were done eating and when our bill arrived they were not on there...guess what? The waitress forgot to place our order.....idiot!! No tip for you!!!!! I won't be returning here ever. read more

Just got back from my first time trip to El Kora and I must say..... I am highly disappointed!!! I cannot believe I got charged an "environmental fee" because I took a 6pk of bottled beer. The waiter advised me of the 1dlr per bottle fee. I agreed (thinking she was gonna charge me for the empty bottles I left behind). After I look at my bill I see that she charged me the full 6dlrs; EVEN THOUGH I ONLY DRANK 2 BEERS AND TOOK THE OTHER 4 back home. That there was mind blowing to me. My girl and I ordered Aguachiles and some Cucarachas. The aguachiles were DELICIOUS. The cucarachas were so oily with no flavor. The only reason why we even came here was because I drive through here daily and see lots of ppl so we said.... hey why not, let's try a new spot!! But yeah, never again. Just went today for a type of brunch meal with my girlfriend before work and I got say, this place NEVER disappoints. We both ordered two separate dishes plus an app, and it was phenomenal! I've personally been coming here since it opened and I always recommend it to friends and family because of how good and how great service is! Not only that but they're fast to serve and seat you! I've never had one complaint for them. Always nice workers, great food, and fast service! Keep it up! The food here will always be to die for. read more

I was skeptical to come here due to these negative reviews.. needless to say, I am very glad I went here. The place looks like it has been newly remodeled, very clean and spacious inside. We went here on a Sunday which is probably their peak day. My family and I (party of 7) was seated right away. The staff here is possibly some of the friendliest, most attentive I have ever encountered. The food is amazing! The Langostinos were some of the best I've had..and it's very reasonably priced.. it's also BYOB.. long story short.. do not go by negative reviews of people who are possibly being spiteful writing inaccurate reviews. read more

I went to this place for the first time since its by my apt. We normally go to Islas marias on 83rd and Pulaski!! Anyway this place is overpriced and the food is not that good. I dont mind paying money for seafood but when its not good or it has too many spices its not worth it!! They use to be very good before they moved locations I order langostinos they were very dry flavor was so off you can taste suger in them the waitress was sooo rude it's byob and the first thing she was worried about is if our beer were in bottles oook! I order a michilada BOGUS! Taste like pepper glass was cracked and no salt on top of brim I didn't eat anything and gave her no tip I left! My husband and I visited this past Friday, March 17, 2017. Worse experience ever, will never go back. Took the waitress forever to acknowledge we were there. We ordered our drinks (coke and squirt) and took the waitress 12 minutes to bring us our drinks. My husband ordered mejillones and I ordered a shrimp cocktail. My husbands food had a hair in it, and my what was supposed to be a shrimp cocktail turned into an octopus cocktail. I took one look at it and was so grossed out I lost my appetite. I waited and waited for a waitress to appear and after 10 minutes I was able to flag her down, she comes over and asks us if everything was ok. LOVE this place. Fresh delicious seafood, reasonable prices, and great service. My favorite dish is the pina rellena...a pineapple filled with seafood in either a cream sauce or estilo Nayarit (which is quite spicy). The pulpo is excellent as is the caldo. El Kora is always crowded which is a definite indicator of their quality however, we've never waited more than 15 minutes. It's BYOB (cans only) and you get fish tostadas as soon you sit down. I usually come to this restaurant 2-3 times a month because it's one of seafood favorites. We spend about $100 every time. This time I Came with my 6yr old daughter who Is a very picky eater like most kids. I had bought her a happy meal from McDonald's so she can eat while the rest of my family enjoyed our seafood at this restaurant . I didn't think this was going to be such a huge problem. We had ordered food and as I was waiting the waitress came to me and told me to take the happy meal to my car that we couldn't bring outside food to the restaurant. I was very disappointed that my daughter had to sit there and could not eat her food and was only able to eat the saltine crackers. My daughter couldn't even eat the fries from the restaurant because they are fried in the same oil that the shrimp and fish were used. After this experience and how we were treated I would not like to visit again. So if your child is a picky eater this place isn't for them. This restaurant seemed like a family oriented place who i would have thought would have accommodated our situation. You lost a client over a happy meal. There are many other restaurant who understand those circumstances if you spend money with them. read more
