This place is EXCELLENT!!! From the service to the food it's the best. I've been twice now and I want to go back everyday. The first time I tried the La Patrona seafood ceviche tower something I had never eaten before with the various seafood. This was so good. I just wanted to keep eating. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The next time I tried tacos. The Tacos Mixtos (steak, chicken, fish, and shrimp) and Tacos Pulpo Zarandeado (grilled octopus). OMG!!! I am in love. I normally don't eat the rice and beans but I tasted them and along with the tacos they were amazingly good. Our waiter Poppa Jon was so nice and helpful. He served with a smile and answered my questions. This is the best Mariscos in AZ.

The food is always amazing, they serve large portions. The service is always great. They are quick and precise and always nice. Ambiance is very fun, they sometimes have mariachis on a weekend day. I love it here! Parking is a little tight when busy so just be early.

We came on Valentine's day on the way to drop off some folks at the airport. We had not been in a while and our friends had never been so we were hoping it was as good as before. We sat outside and the patio was as pleasant as always although there were a couple of hungry bees attacking our water that had fresh lemon slices. Prepare yourself for that! They brought out chips and salsa right away and the new menus. No more big book, just laminated menus - 1 for drinks and apps, the other for entrees. They still bring out the fish tostadas on the house which is always a nice touch. One of us ordered the shrimp tacos, one had carne asada tacos, the third the stuffed fish filet and I had the bacon stained guero chilies with shrimp. Everything was super tasty. The shrimp in my chilies were a tad overcooked however the bacon was really well cooked and not flabby at all. The stuffed fish was outstanding. Super tender and moist and a very large portion! We saw other folks ordering the whole fried red snapper which is served standing! We will try that next time. They served me a complementary shot of a strawberry (?) margarita. It was a nice touch and tasty with a hint of smoke. Always a sure bet for fresh seafood!

La Ofrenda -- 17 Tequila, pomegranate, fresh lime, juice, sour mix, tajin

Reservations on a rainy Saturday in November, we arrived early and were seated immediately. Our friends arrived a few minutes later and we crammed ourselves into the tight table made for four but with extra chairs. The dining room is very festive and brightly decorated but packed with furniture to the brim. Tables are very close together and large customers should be aware they may be squeezed trying to enter and exit. Studied the massive venue for the longest time, while sipping on a La Ofrenda cocktail, a steep $17 but excellent flavor. It has tequila, pomegranate, fresh lime, juice, sour mix, tajin with an adorable skeleton garnish. I ordered the Filete Divorciado with half red and half green sauce (omg the red is not called diablo for being mild!) but the green sauce is absolutely delectable. The fish was lightly breaded and thin, drowned in sauce on the same plate with rice beans and salad. Husband ordered the seafood enchiladas with red and green sauce and his portion was so massive the rice beans and salad came on a separate plate. He raved about the chunks of crab and lobster, and the red sauce was not too hot for him. His margarita was standard. Companions ordered a paella for 2, with extra a shrimp. Interesting the extra shrimp was grilled and seasoned differently than the fish in the paella. They loved this dish although it is not the traditional preparation as the seafood is just placed on top of the restaurant standard white rice with mixed vegetables. Server checked in on us at least a dozen times, we were never in need. Leftover packed and no room for dessert, they let us linger and visit for a very long time, never rushing us to leave. I really appreciate this in a busy spot and tipped accordingly.

We are obsessed with Mariscos Playa Hermosa and the fresh seafood they offer! Every dish has been wonderful but our top item is the whole fried fish (huachinango sarandeado) covered in a spicy mayo sauce. The aguachile, ceviche, molca frio and oysters are great. Lobster enchiladas are great. Chips and salsas are great. Shrimp with heads attached covered in chili (camarones locos) are great. Guac, great. You get the point. It's hard to go wrong. If you're celebrating, I recommend the seafood tower for a special event. Drinks are good but I prefer to save the room in my tummy for delicious Mariscos rather than a margarita. This is not a quiet restaurant so may not be the top choice if you're looking for an intimate spot or if someone in your party is hard of hearing.

We came as a group of 4 and ordered the mocajete with green sauce which was more than enough food! It was so unique and flavorful. The fish inside was a white fish and so soft. Loved the variety of meats too! Drinks were great as well

Sad to say I was their guinea pig they had never served this dish before, and I ended up being the first to try it. I really wanted to go for the octopus and shrimp or keep it safe with the aguachile, but I stepped out of my comfort zone and asked for the waitress's opinion. She suggested I try this tostada. The presentation was nice, and the portion was generous, but the tostada shell was really small and the seafood was completely drenched in guacamole. It felt more like a tostada de aguacate than a seafood tostada I could barely taste any of the seafood. The fried shrimp on top was actually really good, and honestly, if I had just ordered a plate of those I would've been much more satisfied. On the positive side, the service was very friendly and attentive, the ambience definitely had that fun, party vibe. The michelada was delicious and refreshing. That said, it did feel overpriced specifically for what I got. I'll be back to try something else, probably one of their more common seafood dishes and leave another review just to see if redemption is possible.

I had a really solid experience at Marsico's Playa Hermosa. If you are looking for fresh seafood and a lively atmosphere, this is a great spot to check out. One of the first things I noticed and a huge plus in my book, is that the chips and salsa are complementary and made in-house. You can really taste the difference when they are fresh, and the salsa had a nice kick to it. For my main meal, I ordered La Patrona, which was a generous seafood platter loaded with fresh shrimp, octopus, and scallops in a delicious, tangy sauce. It was incredibly flavorful and hit the spot. I paired it with a Pineapple Margarita, which was refreshing and not overly sweet. It was the perfect drink for a seafood dinner. Our server, Gabby, was excellent throughout the night. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. Overall, it's a very strong four stars. The food is fresh, the service is great, and those house-made chips are a highlight. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of their menu!

We came here for Father's Day at 11:20am and the place was already packed!! We sat in the patio and it was cool w the misters. The food and the service were amazing!! The Mega Molcajete & camarones loco was full of flavor and plenty to share w a party of 3-4. I do recommend the red sauce vs the green if you want more of a heat & spice. We can't wait to come back and try some of their other dishes that we saw others ordering. I have my eyes on the: Camarones Fantasia, La Cura Cruda & Tostada Embarazada!

Tried this place for lunch and it was so good! My friend and I came here looking for a place that was a bit more protein-centric and healthier, and Playa Hermosa delivered wonderfully. I had chicken fajitas already on the mind, so that is what I ordered, which came with rice & beans on the side. My friend ordered the Caldo 7 Mares, their house specialty. Overall, the restaurant was clean and had a great atmosphere. Service was fast and friendly, bringing out a complimentary ceviche tostada before our orders came out, which only added to the experience. Our food came out PIPING hot, fresh, with wonderful presentation. My food was delicious, period. My friend's caldo: delicious, period. The food was so good, that I'll just say this: there was a child SCREAMING in the restaurant, at another table, for whatever reason. It was quite bothersome when we first arrived. But once we got our food, the taste of the dishes completely drowned out the noise. It was that good. I expect to return soon, but instead of going with a chicken dish at a seafood restaurant, I will be trying dishes that they're known for.

Food was delicious and the service was excellent! The atmosphere is very pleasant! I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for Mexican or seafood.

This place does it for me every single time! Things I enjoyed: Quick & efficient service/food Great/fun drinks Portions are big Insanely good food Unique rice It's bright & cheerful inside Other things to note: Parking can be tricky- this place is regularly busy for dinner Their red salsa (& sauces) are spicy, delicious but beware Great place to take friends/family- for any casual or special occasion. I'm excited for my leftovers!

I also think my original 1 star review was fair considering that's the whole point of yelp. Reviews are meant to reflect honest experiences. If I had seen someone else's honest review of the drink I likely would have ordered something else. As for returning it, no one wants to have to do that. I've only had one really good açai bowl in Arizona every other one I've tried hasn't been as good so I was kind of nervous. This one I was able to choose and customize the toppings so on my bowl, I got the açai base and on top. I had granola strawberry blueberry and pineapple. The girl at the front said everything was fresh, but being a chef, I kind of felt like the pineapple may have been from a can. Other than that, the rest of the fruit tasted good. I didn't eat the blueberries though. I was disappointed in the açai base taste. It tasted more of like a smoothie mix with a lot of bunch of different things versus just açai eat. I guess the base does have different fruits in it, so it's not your normal açai which threw me off. I probably won't come back here for an açai bowl, but I will come back here to try their other flavors, including some of their smoothies. I'm only reading this at three because the açai evil didn't taste like an açai evil and there wasn't even really any sweetness. I don't think they put Honey in it. I think they put some type of dragon fruit syrup or something like that.

Oh, proximity. My biggest ally and my worst enemy…read more BACKGROUND --------------------- I spotted La Casita comply by chance, driving to the airport one weekday morning to fly off to who knows where for work. I never noticed the sign before and thought it must have been new. I pondered. An ice cream place opening up as the weather's cooling down? Unusual, sure, but then I hail from a city where it can be 40 degrees and wet & windy outside and there's still a line out the door for ice cream (we're a weird people), so this was no biggie. And so today, taking a break from work, I decided to head on down to check this new addition out. THE PLACE ---------------- If you haven't figured it out already, La Casita is a house. and typical of a lot of house-businesses in this part of town, you park in the back and walk in through the back door. The setting inside is kind of sparse at the moment as these guys are brand new and are still putting stuff together. Besides the food counter there are tables to sit inside, as well as some on the front porch and the back patio. The family that owns the place was milling about on a laptop. I think they're pondering and strategerizing ways to get the word out. Little do they know... MENU --------- Considering La Casita calls itself an ice cream place, the selections of actual ice cream is limited to only 4 flavors - chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, and I forget the 4th one. I was pretty surprised. Perhaps they'll carry more down the road? A number of sandwiches are on offer, and the owner mentioned they've been getting good business during lunchtime. For the healthier conscious, they also offer fresh fruit and vegetable juices to blend together or have seperately. But whatever, above items! I'm all about the raspado, which is basically a Mexican sno-cone. And here, La Casita doesn't disappoint. A number of choices, including mango and plum, but I immediately locked in on the tamarindo. Why? I don't know. I'd chalk it to being brown but that'd be ethnicist. And so, I watched as a large styrofoam cup was filled with shaved ice, and large spoonfuls of tamarind juice (along with big chunks of tamarind) were poured on top. I was then given the squeeze bottle to add as much condensed milk as I wanted. But that was not all, as my gluttony knows no bounds. A sliced apple! Yes. I needed to balance my raspado with something fresh, for sure. However, this wasn't some virtuous apple, as it was promptly doused in sweet red syrup and sprinkled with salted peanuts. But I'll pretend it was healthy, like those people who order a Big Mac with a Diet Coke or a Starbucks venti nonfat mocha with extra whipped cream. In any case, both items came to about $6 and change. AND...? ----------- The apple may have been a little too much for me. I hadn't had dinner yet and this was bordering on insane sugar overload. It's good, but definitely recommended if you really like sweet stuff. I'd give it a 3. That said, the raspado was perfect. The chunks of tamarind were perfectly balanced with the ice and the condensed milk, and I enjoyed every bite as I sat outside, staring at the 16th St. traffic. The owner mentioned more flavors that weren't yet listed on the menu, so I'll be sure to try them some time down the road. A 4.5. RANDOM INTANGIBLES --------------------------------- They have wi-fi! How cool (and random) is that? The network password is listed inside, but yep, you can have a sandwich or a mango raspado and tap away on your laptop. They're also (at least currently) open from 9-9 every day, except Sunday when they're doing business 11-8. IN CONCLUSION ------------------------ I'll hand it to any business, especially anyone in the restaurant industry, deciding to open up now in this environment. They don't get a free pass from scrutiny or a deservedly bad rating, sure, but they do deserve some kudos. La Casita seems like it's still a pupae, waiting to come out of its shell. Only a couple of weeks old, it has a ways to go to become an institution amongst both the local Latino population as well as the larger non-Latino crowd. But I'll definitely be checking in again and hopefully they'll be successful once they've settled into a good groove. Dangerous for me, as they're just down the street, but I'll just have to temper myself. As for you, the Yelper (or lover of a Yelper, or any other lurker type), would I recommend this place? Yep - for the raspados, at least. Haven't tried ice cream, juices, or sandwiches yet, but if they're as good as that cup of shaved ice, then these guys will go gangbusters. 3.55 for now, rounding up to 4. Hasta luego.

The cauliflower and golden beets were incredible too. The chef told us that the Japanese sweet potato was one of the popular dishes, but out of everything we ordered, it was surprisingly my least favorite. It was still good but everything else tasted better to me. Pa'La is a bit pricey but the quality makes up for it. I would recommend this place for people who are visiting or for a date night!
