Wood and bronze everywhere. That's the initial impression of the Maritim Nürnberg. The lobby, the rooms, the furniture have weight to them in that 1950s style architecture sort of way. It's certainly dated but there are enough modern touches everywhere that you don't feel like you've jumped back in time and all the furniture and architecture has been well maintained.
Even into the rooms, the impression is mostly how classy everything is. Rooms are larger than normal and the beds are comfortable, with desks and loungers. Wi-Fi (as always) costs money, but as a Maritim Hotel, it's provided through T-Mobile so it's reasonably affordable and buying access here will work at any T-Mobile hotspots around the country.

Head out a little farther and there are plenty of nice restaurants. Fortunate, since the in-hotel restaurant is pricey and the menu underwhelming for their lunch and dinner services. No surprise that it's often empty outside breakfast.
The gym is surprisingly nice and the pool is huge. The front desk staff friendly and helpful. Prices are a a bit on the high side, but totally within reason given the location. Their breakfast buffet is fantastic. read more
