Most recently I had a delicate water colour of orchids in a chinese pot, that I bought in San Francisco, and Phillip demonstrated that special eye in guiding me to the right, mat, under mat, and frame to draw out the subtle colours in the work. I usually go in with a general idea of what I want; and Phillip never fails to guide me to the best execution possible. He has done 6 or 7 jobs for me over the years, and every one still looks fresh in presentation. I would not go anyplace else.

I picked up one of the display plants for not even 3seconds when I was SHOUTED by the older lady working in the store. She screamed at me immediately and gave me the most horrible look saying "Why are you touching that!!!??? That is not for sale! Do not touch that!" I can understand it shouldn't of been touched and perhaps I didn't realize but her tone and demeanour was quite frightening, she could of said it in a polite way. My brother had to intervene as she was quite aggressive, she then started talking to him very unprofessionally too. Whoever this lady is, she should not be working in the retail business if that is how she talks to people who weren't even in her store for 5min. We left the gallery immediately and will not be returning, ever again.

Bill Reid was a master artist (of many talents) who brought aboriginal art to the public & the world in way prior to his works were aboriginal art was mostly ignored or never really seen in importance to Canada's history. One of his most famous pieces is located at YVR Vancouver International Airport - the famous Jade Canoe sculpture. It has appeared in many travelers photos as they pass through the airport - one not to miss. The Bill Reid Gallery is small museum but is a must check out, whenever you're in downtown Vancouver. Do not expect the same experience like at the Natural History Museum (NYC or London) nor the Met, which requires hours of time to get through. The BRG is way smaller. Budget to spend at least an hour here. I enjoyed the displays & was actually quite impressed with what I saw. If you're heavy into art & native history, I'd highly recommend a visit out to the University of British Columbia to check out the Museum of Anthropology. See my review.

It began well: I said "this is special, so I'd like to use the museum quality good stuff" and they said "that's all we ever use," so I knew I was in good hands. The finished product looked terrific (I'd post a pic, but it's under wraps until Christmas) and was, given how busy they are, relatively swiftly done, in about two/three weeks.

Also Bau-Xi Gallery is a constant on a block of changing retailers and gentrification, just steps from the gallery VPD used Deadly force to subdue a Mentally Ill man that case (Paul Boyd) is still under review just as the images on Galleries walls for the public to see. He was great in helping us pick the right frame and had a lot of patience. When I came to pick it up 2 weeks later, unfortunately, they had framed it with another frame than the one I had picked... Mistakes happen, and I am in no rush, so I am still ok at this point. The man (Gerry I believe) did not apologize one single time, but ok. I show them the photo of the one I had picked. I also send it by email at their request. Then ensues a bunch of confusing emails where they tell me to bring the frame back to the store... The frame never left the store and is still in their possession so I'm very confused at this point. They say they will put a rush on it. Which was a lie, because it took them 2 other weeks to get it done. So a month later, I go in to pick up my frame. The man opens the kraft paper it's wrapped in... and AGAIN, it's the wrong frame. I told them and their response was "well, that's the darkest one we have." I keep showing them the photo of the one I had picked, but somehow nobody in the store is able to find that frame anymore. At this point I didn't want to deal with those people anymore. No one ever apologized and they asked me to pay full price... I asked for a discount and they eventually agreed to to a $50 discount on a $200 overall amount. I just paid and took the wrong frame home... I will never use their services again. It's not even about the mistake itself, but rather about the total lack of care and apologies. Very bad customer service.

Great place to get your passport photo done. I got my old ones from Blacks years ago (no wonder…read morethey went out of business!) and they were so bad that I have had border agents LAUGH at my photo because I looked like I was having a very rough day. Stumbled upon Superbest Photos on Yelp and it was conveniently located downtown. Went on my lunch break to get my passport photos done and what a difference!!! They use professional lighting here so you don't look like you have perma-RBF since you can't smile in passport photos anymore. They also took multiple shots and let me pick the best one. Service was great and fast and honestly the best passport photos I have had in a while. I recently came back to get my headshots done, also very happy with the results. Anthony was great and really made sure I was happy with the results. They have a $49 option without retouching, and a $99 option with retouching included. Anthony actually told me I probably didn't need the $99 option (awww!) and I was very happy with the final product. I got the photos the same day, an hour later and he made sure the lighting was good! I remember getting my passport photos and school photos done waaaay back in the day in studios like this, so not only was it a nostalgic experience, but also phenomenal service and a great business overall. They also have their Yelp award proudly displayed and I can see why. If you are reading this review, I urge you to get your photo done here, this is a great way to support a good local business and there is truly a big difference to what you will get from a LD or Shoppers!

Visited SuperBest for passport photos based on a quick Yelp search that turned it up as the top…read morerated business. My visit was very pleasant, efficient, and I can see why the high star rating is consistent for this business. Anthony is a professional who has been in business here since 1990! You can see from the many photos, thank you notes, and certificates on display that he is involved with his community and strives for quality in his work. This is certainly a business I can get behind supporting. Show some love if you're in the market for passport photos or a business/professional portrait :)
