At first visit with him I brought MRI pictures on my phone to show the doctor--he would not look at the MRI saying he will get the disc from the facility and view on bigger screen ..each visit I would ask if he reviewed the films and he never had (eventually saying he had the report which was all he needs & which he had from day 1 when I brought it to him). Dr. Pruzansky is phenomenal! I couldn't be more grateful to have found him. He did surgery after I fractured my phalanx and 5th metacarpal. I've never been to a doctor that's more attentive. He has a wonderful bedside manner and made me feel comfortable and explained everything that was going to happen. As for the staff, they're amazing too! I had a great experience with every person there. The front desk staff were kind, responsive, and tremendously helpful. Dr. Mark Pruzansky feels like I'm going go see my cool uncle who is also an orthopedic surgeon. I don't know if I'd consider the front desk staff as the most friendly- they're not unfriendly, but definitely some of the most competent front staff I've encountered and I appreciate that a lot more. Also Francis who had to go over financial information with me was very patient, as if she had to explain everything to a 5 year old which is my comprehension level of insurance. The xray tech's and other behind the scenes crew are all lovely too. I never had a long wait time either. Highly recommend this office. read more

My friend had a large cyst in her forearm that was entangled by nerves. She thought she would not have use of that hand/arm. After surgery with Dr Pruzansky she had full use of her hand and arm! Oh yay me, I say the day after the trauma of having the stainless steel stiches removed. Not much makes me all queasy but the mere thought of having those stiches removed sent me into never never land. So this is what anxiousness is all about. I was so happy to have them coming out with the combined thought of *&^%^*(*#@ this is going to hurt like a &^#@*&. It did not help that my neighbor looked at my hand and said....oh that's going to hurt when they take those out. Seriously can someone just lie to me and tell me its going to be a snap, no issues no nothing. I even looked at it and was absolutely certain that this removal process was going to hurt. No please keep in mind that I did on my own try to figure out how to wiggle these things in hopes of getting them out but no such luck. Dr. Pruzansky must be some sort of card carrying boy scout badge of honor in tying knots recipient or something. I think walking out of Fort Knox with a few bars of gold would have been easier to accomplish than getting those damn stitches out. Those things would not even wiggle when I messed with them. So as usual I was early to the appointment and was taken early....again big wow for a doctors office that does not over book appointments, thus no waiting. I was in the exam room maybe two minutes when this lovely lady named Eunice came in and introduced herself as the one that would be removing my stitches from hell. Part of me was relieved because I immediately felt like a woman would be more understanding of my concern regarding the ouch factor that was about to happen. Eunice was very understanding and listened to my concerns over which stitches were considerably annoying and painful to the touch. I asked Eunice to specifically leave the bad ones for last and she totally understood and agreed to work on the ones that appeared to be less painful. Not only was Eunice a beautiful person on the outside, her calmness and caring demeanor made her this exceptionally lovely person on the inside. Now I want to tell you my fears were just that, fears of pain that never happened, but I cannot tell you that as those stitches coming out felt like some sort of torture from a place you never want to go. Maybe I am overreacting but when I say I would rather go thru surgery again than to have the stitches removed that is absolute truth. I have an exceptionally high pain tolerance, but when it comes to this, I have ZERO TOLERANCE! In the end, Eunice did say that most people do not find this part of the surgery aftermath very pleasant, so I did not feel too bad being a total wussy. So if you can imagine pulling a nose hair from each nostril, ripping off a finger nail and stepping on a Lego all at the same time....that would haven been better than having stainless steel stitches removed. After the removal trauma, here comes Dr. Pruzansky in to check the hand and suggest a bit of OT and see you in a month to see how the healing is going. You mean I have to come back, yes he said, this is not hit and run surgery....get back here in a month. I still give the Dr. P, his staff and especially Eunice 5 stars, even though I had a horrible time during this visit. They certainly cannot be held responsible for my lack of taking every drug known to man and a vodka chaser before I came for my visit. Positive outlook, I did not pass out or vomit on anyone during the process! Now that would have been insult to injury. read more

I cannot believe that some of these reviews are for the same doctor and staff that I saw. After breaking my hand recently (bear attack) my dad referred me to Dr. Pruzansky as he had helped out with his hand problems. The doc specializes in sports medicine injuries too, and treats boxers and MMA fighters regularly. I don't do those things, but I do work out out quite a bit and a bit concern in my recovery was gain back full functionality as soon as possible. Simply put, every step of the way my experience was superb. From the front office staff, to his other assistants/doctors, to the doc himself, it was the best medical experience I've ever had. This includes surgery at Mount Sinai (excluding certain Mount Sinai staff). He gave me a clear picture of what was wrong, ways we could fix it, his recommendation of what the best choice was, what we were going to do in said surgery, and how things were progress. He never rushed through my appointments or was too physical with my injury. On top of this, he was patient in explaining my situation and left me with the sense that he genuinely cared about my well-being. The rest of the staff was extremely friendly and even helped through some issues my insurance caused. I hate doctors--especially after this year--but I'd recommend Dr. Pruzansky in a heartbeat to anyone who needs a hand doctor. I wish we could clone him and have him specialize in other areas of medicine as well. read more

I've never left a review for a doctor before, but I'm so grateful to Dr. Pruzansky and his team. I cut my hand on an emulsion blender in the middle of the pandemic and was lucky enough to be referred to his office by the urgent care clinic. They saw me right away and could not have been kinder or more helpful. It was so clear I was in the best hands possible. I evaluate doctors based on the quality of the care they personally provide, and whether or not they are the best at what they do. While I appreciate the comments of some of the other people who have posted reviews, I am reviewing Dr Pruzansky on his personal acumen, not the hospitals he practices in, the insurance companies he deals (or doesn't deal with), or the front desk staff (which I actually think are terrific despite what others say - if you are respectful to them, they will treat you VERY well). Bottom line, I travel hours to see him. He's corrected a botched carpal tunnel surgery for my wife - very delicate micro surgery, as well as doing a PERFECT job on her other wrist for carpal tunnel. He's also treated my severe tennis elbow and I respect him for NOT recommending surgery. I trust him completely - the BEST in my book. Will spend extra time with you to make sure your questions are all addressed as long as you are willing to speak up. He knows his crap and doesn't mess around - gives it to you straight. read more

I would give Dr. Pruzansky himself 5 stars. He is extremely efficient, knowledgeable, and explains things well. I was sad that he doesn't accept my new insurance, as finding another doctor like him has been tricky. His physicians assistants were wonderful and professional. I'm deducting 2 stars due to the receptionists. The front office staff were horribly unprofessional while I was in the waiting area for my first visit, loudly calling front office staff at other medical offices, as well as patients (by name, and discussing their injuries), idiots and bad mouthing them. Dr Pruzansky was professional, expert and efficient. No endless waits, no sitting around, just top notch care. If you are looking for the best possible medical outcome, I believe Dr Pruzansky is your man. I was very concerned about my broken hand, and was on the fence about getting surgery vs just letting it heal in a cast. I am extremely happy that I opted to get the surgery as Dr Pruzansky advised. He performed the surgery and everything was totally professional and well executed. My hand is now as good as new, and it would have been a little bit crooked forever otherwise. If my review were based only on the medical care and the outcome, I would not hesitate to give 5 stars. But to be completely fair I have to give only 4 stars, not 5: You should come prepared with all of the questions you want to ask him, because he is unlikely to offer much beyond the bottom line regarding your condition. I realized after my first visit that I had only a vague idea of what exact surgery I was going to get, how long I'd be in a cast vs a brace, whether the pins would come off at the same time as the cast, etc. Some of those questions had uncertain answers, but I'd have felt better pressing him to give a range of possibilities instead of being partially in the dark. On my second visit, I asked him every question I had and he couldn't have been more gracious in answering them all. Lesson learned for the future with any doctor. Another slight deduction: I found one or two of the receptionists to have an attitude for absolutely no reason. For instance, I asked to keep my X-rays, and they said "That costs $30, you don't still want them do you?" and they seemed put out when I said yes, in fact I did still want them. Another time, Dr Pruzansky wrote a prescription for physical therapy, and when the receptionist handed it to me, it looked just like a drug prescription so I asked what it was. She glared at me like I was an idiot and snarled "Physical THERAPY. For your HAND." Cheers! But like I said, my hand is doing fantastic, which is all that really matters. read more

Dr. Pruzansky and his PAs the best. The same cannot be said for the women who work for him at the front desk. Some of the rudest, most inconsiderate people you will ever interact with. There are times you can even see them fighting with each other. Don't dare say hello to them or ask them a question (especially related to billing) I've been going to this office for nearly a year, and every time they are mean as can be. If you can handle that, then Dr. Pruzansky could be worth it as he's a great surgeon and very knowledgeable with great bedside manner. read more

Hospital very inconsiderate of patients time. I feel it's rude and inconsiderate to have patients wait around 3 hours for a procedure. We are not waiting for a free surgery. We are paying customers and should be treated with respect. One additional star for quick in and out post op visit. In general not a totally bad experience. I just had my left carpal tunnel operated on endoscopically by Dr. Pruzansky. I went in with no apprehension after the wonderful job he did on my right hand last year. If it's possible, this one went even better than the last time. I was able to play piano the day after surgery. I had rehearsals all week and a gig 8 days post surgery. I can't believe how good my hand is doing, virtually no pain, great mobility, my career goes on with hardly even a hiccup. Dr. Pruzansky's staff was extremely helpful and walked me through every step of the way from scheduling to pre op to post op. It couldn't have gone smoother. As I said in my previous review, his staff are professional and very helpful. I haven't seen a better run medical practice and I have seen a lot. As a professional pianist, who has had a number of hand problems, and been to my fair share of hand surgeons, having Dr. Pruzansky to turn to is invaluable and gives me great peace of mind. Just updating my review from 2011: No thanks to Dr. Pruzansky's incorrect diagnosis, I am completely symptom free two years after my shoulder and hand injury, with NO surgery, only stretches and careful exercises to slowly realign and build strength. An MRI around that time (from a different doctor) showed absolutely nothing wrong in the areas that were diagnosed by Dr. P, and I have regained a full range of motion in both wrist and shoulder (diagnosis was rotator cuff tear). It is wonderful that some of the patients have posted positive results. But my inclination is to advise against going here.... read more

He was recommended by my company's medical office so he was attentive and patient with me and waived the required credit card for the file! But his staff are all nasty and rude and uncooperative. To be honest, they are not Park Avenue Dr's office material but I guess the good doctor doesn't want to pay for quality assistants he will have a little more for. Took three stars off because who wants to deal with sour faced, disrespectful front office staff when you have a broken finger. And I happen to think asking a patient to provide credit card number you can charge as you wish is a bit offensive for a medical office. Well I must be a klutz, because I had to see him again after I hurt my arm after I tipped my bike. It was fractured but I didn't need surgery. Since the fracture was close the elbow, he didn't cast it because that would mean casting my elbow, which would lead to serious mobility issues once the cast came off (a friend had a similar break and similar treatment from a different doc). I was VERY relieved to not have my elbow in a cast! Dr. Pruzansky was just as attentive to this fracture as to my broken wrist. Highly recommended. read more

This is my first Yelp review and I came here specifically to review Dr. Pruzansky. This was my best experience with a doctor in NYC period...and I have been to a lot. I broke my thumb in a basketball game the night before and the ER doc suggested I see a hand specialist. Dr. Pruzansky's team got me an appointment right away. I did not wait in the waiting room for more than a few minutes and then was skillfully taken from x-rays to examinations to splinting. Dr. Pruzansky was great every step of the way. This "doctor" is a scam. I came to them with a broken hand they forced me to wait hours after which they did absolutely nothing but yet managed to charge my insurance thousands of dollars. There was not a single follow-up nor recommendation on how to do physical therapy or any further treatment either. Then when they couldn't charge my insurance anymore they billed me directly and put it on my credit report. Still without any treatment or follow up. If you like to throw your money away and get no service this is a place for you. read more

My opinion: This practice is a factory, pushing patients in and out the door every 15 minutes. I sat and sat in the waiting room and then sat and sat in the exam room. The x-ray tech was fine. The physician's assistant was fine. Dr. Pruzanksy was beyond brusque and his examination lasted 60 seconds, give or take 30 seconds. He actually hurt me with his rough examination and when I asked how I should cope with the severe pain, he said, "Take Motrin and live your life." I could not make a fist, could barely hold a pen and he couldn't have cared less. Accolades or no, I will never go back. read more

I certainly did do my homework before I decided to go to Dr. Pruzansky. Even though I read the nasty comments and remarks posted by Alexis & Aaron, the majority of his ratings were excelent. Therefore,I decided to go visit him. I broke my right hand and was refered to a doctor who literraly told me that nothing could be done. Needless to say, i did not stop there and went to see Dr. Pruzansky. The service I received from Dr. Pruzansky and his staff was beyond my expectations. He was very thorough explaining the procedure and, did not have to wait long before I was x-rayed and examined. He immediately told me that the surgery is a minor surgery unlike the doctor who told me nothing could be done. On the day of the surgery he arrived earlier to comfort me and make sure everything is in order. I have never seen such professionalism and compassion from a doctor ever before. It is my hope that readers would not be discouraged by postings of some "negative, bitter and evil spirited human beings" who have nothing better to do other than getting pleasure from trashing and ruining businesses. My hand had healed and cannot thank him enough for what he has done for me. I highly recommend Dr. Pruzansky. read more

As far as doctors are concerned, I feel that Dr. Prusansky is top notch. He is attentive, kind and extremely knowledgeable. On the other hand, his office staff ruins his practice. They are rude, unprofessional, & just plain mean. They do not accommodate patients and make you feel like an inconvenience to them. I was sent to him by an urgent care place when I broke my finger. he was worse than not helpful and I had to go to another doctor. when the appointment was booked they claimed they"took my insurance." this turned out to mean that they submitted it to my insurance but I had to pay the difference and deal with all the paper work. Dr. Pruzansky is an excellent hand surgeon. I had four broken tendons in one finger due to a fall, but was hesitant about surgery. He did it in about half an hour, with spinal block anesthesia in my neck, so I never was 'asleep'. Did P/T but eventually the swollen tendons caused carpel tunnel syndrome and hand numbness, which took another brief surgery, minimal anesthesia needed again. Now I am pain free, and have full use of my finger and hand. I never missed a day of work overall. read more

Well at first in the beginning, I found the Dr and his staff organized and professional eventhough I felt he was the type of surgery happy doctor rushing me to do surgery so fast. I do have to say as far as surgery it was done successful (PLUS) However, I think he contradicts himself when it comes to the healing time. At first he tells me oh its a quick surgery and I can go back to work in a few days. Common sense should have kicked in and said no way in hell can one go back to work after a nerve surgery in a just a few days! I had to keep the staff in check for them to fill out my disability forms correctly and on time for my employement. I kept my patience considering the doctor had me on a standby for return to work practically on a 3/4 wk basis. I went to my therapy diligently. In just two and half weeks ago during my followup I asked the doctor when more or less I can return back to work and he said just take my time. I faxed my disability form to extend possible two months later return. They did not HONOR my request. It was a back and fourth standby until I was notified later on during the day the doctor signed I can go back "now". What the hell is that? Not professional to indicate "NOW" and he said I can take my time. BY LAW, one is entitled to 6 month disability; I didn't even request complete six months. No compromise not even a week. I still have spasm and stiffness and I'm not ready "NOW" just when my therapy just started to increase strengthing my weakness. They have no respect or compromise for the patient and just does what the doctor says without even really listening or having compassion. Neither of them had surgery to fully understand it really depends on the patient and I only had two followups post surgery. I have never heard of this from any reliable doctor nor have my peers and I work for healthcare ppo. But then maybe since my PPO just paid him for the surgery, I guess I just got let go. Very disappointed, angry and hurt. They claim to be here for you but apparent the staff is scared to question the doctor decisions. Why because is one the top doctors?? Oh please.. There is so much more but I will leave it at that, and this took me too long to type on one hand. So for others who praise this doctor & staff there could be alot of factors: perhaps their insurance is better or the patients don't really do an extreme amount of repetitive hands-on-job. I just heard of negative reviews from other people I personally know. So the choice is yours just beware of contradiction and "coolness" they give and God forbid you should have him communicate to you fully on followups, handle any insurance, disability forms. For whatever surgery one might need just make sure not to fall for that " oh you can go back to work in a few days" nonsense. Be smart and make sure you take the time YOU NEED!! And no I'm not one of those "evil spirited human being" as Judith W review; I state the truth as is. Maybe others state the truth to their true experience. read more
