Dr Mark gave me a second chance. I was a very well functioning alcoholic, but with a new job people started to notice memory losses and lack of focus. I've also been diagnosed as bi-polar. I was suicidal by the time a friend got me into see Dr. Mark. I could not have gotten sober without him - when I stopped drinking my blood pressure went through the roof. We got me under-control, detoxed and alcohol-free in 72 hours with a friend as my monitor so I could keep working. He checked on me via text between visits. He's gotten me on some different medication for my bi-polar which should help too. Now it's up to me, but with his support and the support of my friends. read more

After benefiting from what I thought was a beneficial relationship, Dr. Agresti randomly asked me to find a new doctor without giving me any tangible reason or advance notice. I find this professionally irresponsible and dangerous, not to mention plain inconsiderate given his lack of any meaningful explanation. Throwing me to another doctor is not what is best for me. He does not have medical malpractice insurance, which may be one reason he is "dumping" his more complex clients. Who knows. My impression is one if Inconsiderate behavior, a reckless lack professionalism and medical irresponsibility. I am sad and confused that he chose to so abruptly end our patient-doctor relationship on such bizarre terms. read more

Dr Agresti has continued to be responsive and available during covid. He has accommodated me and recognized that this is a difficulty time for everyone. Its not easy or safe to travel, yet this has been a very challenging time for everyone-health care providers especially. He has never turned me away. It's amazing to have continued care from an experienced doctor that knows your medical history and still makes time for you. I don't think you can do this unless you love what your doing and you care about the people who rely on you. read more

Dr. Mark Agresti M.D. saved my life, literally. I am not making this statement to shock you or create undue interest, it is simply a statement of fact. I first encountered Dr. Agresti during a crisis of high drama and extreme physical and emotional stress that followed a week long hospital stay in Costa Rica. Hours before my return flight I suffered a severe, acute respiratory event which placed me in CIMA Hospital for a full week. By the time I was released and boarded the plane (in a wheelchair) for the flight back to Florida I was a broken man, physically and emotionally. This was how Dr. Agresti found me about three years ago. I exercised/played sports 3-4 hours a day and my diet consisted of mainly fruits, salads and lean protein. I had numerous close friends and dated regularly, in short I had the happy, full life I had worked so hard to attain, but his would not last. I had numerous surgeries from sports injuries which barely slowed me down. Then came spinal surgery to deal with multiple herniated discs and my life would change forever. Surgery, followed by mutltiple pulmonary emboli (blood clots) in both lungs, lung collapse months later and 18 months of high doses of percocet, neck injections and epidural steroid injections left me beaten, battered and discouraged. The worst part of my new reality was respiratory. I was always short of breath, could not take a deep breath without reflexive coughing and the constant oxygen insufficiency led to anxiety and sever panic attacks. I lived or should I say existed with this anxiety and panic for years as I would wake up in the middle of the night in stark terror and run to the local ER for help with my oxygen deprivation. For years following surgery and its complications, I worked very hard to limit my physical activity and adjust all aspects of my life to the new reality, including sleeping on the couch on my side, a vegan diet, and lots of green juices, wheat grass and meditation. One month later I arrived in Florida in a daze, my breathing was worse than ever before, my chest was perpetually tight as a drum and fear and panic ruled the day. After three weeks of ER visits with no relief I was ready to jump off a bridge, not because I was suicidal, but I could no longer bear the 24/7 stress, anxiety, panic and total lack of empathy from the medical community. As a last ditch effort I started calling local psychiatrists hoping they could find an answer others could not. Numerous doctors refused to see me for at least a month, even though I pleaded that this was urgent and offered to pay any fee. Some thought I had drug seeking behavior and literally terminated my phone call, and others well, you get the point. My last call was to some social services facility where they told me "I would have to check myself in as a mental patient for an indeterminate time" and oh yeah the doctor could not see me for a week. Weeks of zero sleep, little food and an adrenal system on the verge of collapse I was luckily referred to Dr. Agresti by a past doctor who refused to see me. I was told he was a good physician and the one person who might both see me on short notice and rearrange his whole schedule to handle my crisis. I called immediately, quickly blurted out my situation to the staff, while trying to not to sound too pathetic for fear of rejection. After the staff person had a short talk with the doctor, I was advised to come in the next day! My heart dropped please let me not be dreaming. I arrived the following morning, rapidly filled out my paperwork and was ushered into the private sanctum of Dr. Agresti. What awaited me was not only the psychological help I desperately needed, but the comprehensive understanding of my medical/psychiatric situation along with the empathy that I had craved since being admitted into the hospital 7 weeks prior. My abridged medical file going back years was several inches high. We discussed my physical/ issues past and present at length and delved deeply into the anxiety, panic and overall stress that my physical issues were causing both acutely and long term. After 90 minutes of thorough examination and investigation Dr. Agresti came up with a comprehensive treatment plan for my conditions. This plan quickly brought my life under control, restored my sanity and emotional state and has served me well to this day. I have no doubt that If Dr. Agresti had not intervened when so many had turned me away, I would not be here to write this comment today. I urge all who have had the patience to read through this lengthy piece to use your local mental health professionals, they can change the quality of your life, even save it. A final note to those of you that happen to live in south Florida. If you need help seek out Dr. Agresti, if he treats you with the same intelligence, patience, kindness and empathy that he showed me (and I have no doubt that he will) your health can reside in no better hands. read more

Dr Agresti is a kind, compassionate person that genuinely cares for his patients. He has been my doctor for years. He has such a positive influence in my life. I have never felt better mentally. I went to Dr. Agresti ' s office last Monday as a new patient. I did not see Dr. Agresti at all, instead I got to see a physician assistant. This PA spoke with me and determined that I needed to switch one of my long term medicines. I questioned him carefully about stopping my Cymbalta (which I have been using for 6+ years) cold turkey. His explanation was that the new medicine had the same seratonin (sp) or something like that so there is no withdrawal problem. I began taking the new medication on Tuesday morning after stopping the Monday night Cymbalta. All went fine until Thursday morning when I started shaking, speaking rapidly, and sweating. I called Dr. Agresti ' s office at approximately 10:30 am and was informed that Dane, the PA I had seen was off for the rest of the week. I was told one of the other PAs would get back to me promptly. By now, I was entering a full blown withdrawal. After calling at least 2 more times, I was connected to a different PA around 4 pm. She told me Cymbalta is NEVER stopped without being weaned off the medicine, was concerned about my age (66) with these symptoms, and instructed me to take a Cymbalta immediately. She informed me that Dane, the first PA was new, so he might have made a mistake (with my life). She said she would call me first thing in the morning to check my status. Friday came with no call and even stronger withdrawal issues. I called Agresti ' s office around 1, at 2, and finally about 3, I spoke with yet a third PA. Again, the sounds of concern, increasing my Cymbalta dosage, and have a good weekend. There was no discussion about them needing to see me the following week. Nothing, no calls today to see what the situation was. WHAT TYPE OF PSYCHIATRIST IS DR. AGRESTI THAT HE NEVER BOTHERED TO MEET ME, HE HAS PAs PRESCRIBING MEDS WITH TERRIBLE FOLLOW UP. I CALLED SAYING I EVEN HAD SUICIDAL THOUGHTS AND WAS TOLD TO HAVE A NICE WEEKEND? Terrible office, wouldn't recommend to a dog! read more

Dr. Mark Agresti is a nice man recommended to me by my dermatologist. I can't speak for any other patients, but during our consultations, it's clear to me that he really cares about my health and safety well beyond simply filling a prescription. His questions are thorough, and he addresses all of my concerns as far as side effects and appropriate dosages. Dr. Agresti is an excellent psychiatrist. His attitude and approach are easy going, not so stiff and clinical. This is comforting and makes him very easy to talk to, which I think is the whole point of seeing a psychiatrist. He's not just about writing prescriptions. During appointments, he always takes the time needed to talk and really see how you're doing. And if for some reason you're having a difficult time and need a last minute appointment, his staff is always friendly and helpful in telling him your needs and getting you in to see him. I saw this doctor many years ago. He was arrogant, very self-absorbed with his designer suits & Italian leather shoes and treated me incorrectly because he misdiagnosed me. He put me on Prozac & ignored me when I told him repeatedly that I didn't feel right taking it---he would not listen to me & just told me to keep taking it, even though I was beginning to have some pretty dark thoughts about killing myself. I was more depressed when I was taking it than when I wasn't taking it. Long story short, after a suicide attempt I was Baker Acted for 72 hours by the emergency room doctor & Agresti discontinued the Prozac---it took an almost successful suicide attempt for him to believe what I was telling him & for him to take me off the Prozac. Telling him that I felt worse wasn't good enough, I guess---he needed "proof" that I wasn't feeling better. Then he didn't put me on any medications & wanted me to see his in-house therapist a few times a week, and I couldn't sleep because of anxiety & depression, so I began self-medicating because I would be awake for 2 and 3 days straight---and then he diagnosed me as a drug addict instead of trying to figure out what was really going on & treating me appropriately for my mental health issues. He also "shared" my protected health information with people he had no right to share it with, which resulted in derogatory actions taken against me in the industry I worked in, causing serious financial problems leading to further mental health issues. He violated the doctor/patient relationship & didn't even have the balls to tell me that he was the one that "shared" my PHI until I asked him directly about it. He "shared" my PHI without asking for my permission to do so prior to doing it or even telling me that it was his intention to do so. In retrospect, I should have sued him for doing this, but I guess I was more concerned with finding a competent psychiatrist to diagnose me properly & treat me accordingly at the time. Then, I moved to another state & my priority was getting my life back together. What he did was blatantly wrong. When a patient tells you that they are having dangerous thoughts, and there is a black box warning on the medication you have prescribed for them, specifically pertaining to suicidal thoughts, it is clear negligence & medical malpractice when a physician ignores your complaints & tells you to keep taking that medication. I think his priority was making money & not the proper diagnosis & treatment of his patients, to be perfectly honest. I always felt like I was just a nuisance to him. I subsequently found 2 very excellent & competent psychiatrists that diagnosed me properly right off the bat & put me on the correct medication, so I have a very good bar of comparison. At the time, I had never seen a psychiatrist before, so I had nothing to compare him to. I was so depressed & anxious when I saw him, I was trying to get help & trusted him to help me--but he nearly killed me instead. And he wasn't even bothered by my suicide attempt, which exhibited his clear lack of compassion. read more
