Contacted Mark for help with multiple tax issues owning property in Hawaii and living in the Mainland. Having been away from the islands for many years, Mark helped me to file back income taxes which I didn't know I had to file, and to help with my tax refund for proceeds withheld. It was a net $25,000 gain after a lot of work on his part. He is so awesome to work with and I strongly recommend him for people not residing in Hawaii to help walk through Hawaii's unique tax laws. He Hung up on me. !!! We hired Mark for my inlaws after selling a property in hawaii. everything at first was great. quick responses to email etc. there was some confusing aspects about this tax return so there was a mistake that I had found. no problem, its understandable due to the details being mixed up. However when I called him to get our facts straight he was unprofessional. Not understanding why I was helping my inlaws with their taxes. my mother in-law has MS and has a speech disability and my father in-law has dementia. After a short conversation where he was very confused he told me he'd void the invoice and hung up on me. read more

Unprofessional behavior. Scheduled a consultation and asked a few questions about his qualifications and cited some tax research i had done in an email beforehand. It must've seemed too complex, as the response I got was: "I'm gonna take a pass on this. I wish you good luck in getting your issues worked out." Given that I was in a situation where I really needed a CPA, that was a hard blow. I hope he's kinder to his future clients and doesn't abandon them when they need help the most. read more

Mark is the best! I had a great experience of getting to work with him on some tax issues which he quickly resolved in a matter of days. He is very prompt at responding via email/text. Update to my review of April 2022: Unfortunately, Mark Lee's response to my review has made it worse. He emailed me on 4/1 saying he filed my deceased mom's personal return. Now his Yelp response on 5/8 said he did NOT file it. He won't respond to email asking for confirmation that the return is filed. There may be penalties if he did NOT file. He emailed me the Trust return as FINAL, not a draft. So his response is incorrect that it was a Draft. All documents sent to new tax preparer were the same documents sent to Mark, nothing changed, except Mark's errors were caught with the 2nd preparer. Errors on both the Personal return and Trust return. read more

Lacked focus. While not a CPA I needed to check his work and point out lapses. Clearly did not measure up to some of his so-called ratings which I think he made up. He was curt and rude. read more

This is my very first yelp. I do not like this platform honestly but I am compelled. Especially b/c I called Mark based on testimonials. I called looking for a professional to me help with past tax debt and setting up installments and an offer in compromise with the IRS; but also I would like a long term adviser/consultant I could turn to for taking care of my businesses, tax planning stuff. Immediately he treated me crappy on the phone. I like snarky people but he repeatly Interupted me, suggesting what I needed cost a lot, too much.. that he costs a lot, assumed I wasn't willing to pay, "people call me all the time pumping me for information." and he didn't do that kind of work. I have money, I expected to pay, told him I'd pay for the phone call even... and that i thought that he was a tax specialist... but he assumed I was ignorant, and after bullying me with a couple questions like: "have you ever even seen a OIC form? " etc... ( which I am no expert, thus the calling him, but I know shit too) so he pauses asks me what it was I asking him to do... I'll tell him i recently got a Covid Disaster Loan and wanted to know how the IRS would see it... he cuts me off, proceeds to treat me like I was asking for something nefarious, or wanted to hide it, which I wasn't. Tells me he's been investigate by the FBI before, and hangs up on me. To be clear - For the Record - I was willing to pay for every minute of his professional services. I was not looking to hide money or break the law. I was looking for professional advice and stategies on how to properly - legally - manage my tax obligations. I, at no point, hinted or requested anything illegal. I was looking for a strategist and a problem solver, an ally and an advisor who could help me be a better entrepreneur.
