If you are in the area, you can't skip this place. If you're from Cleveland, the Marketplace at the Cooke will remind you a lot of the 5th Street Arcades in downtown Cleveland. This is a super cool public market hall in downtown Sandusky with maybe 15ish (just a guess) local businesses like a bakery, bowling alley, axe throwing game space, ice cream shop and boutiques. This is a cool place to spend an hour or two just browsing and supporting local while grabbing some dessert. The building has some type of history to it which I was unable to readily find online (boo, that is so odd). But the history is paid homage in the design of this space, with old timey photos of Sandusky and Cedar Point blown up on the walls and little stories to accompany them. The design is actually brilliant. It's a cool mixture of old school heritage meets modern rustic vibes. It makes you want to stop and look. The businesses in this building are open during the pandemic, just make sure to check with each business directly before visiting as most of the hours are likely changed. I stopped by here extremely quickly (I do not go out much during the pandemic) to pick up some pre-paid birthday treats from Bake Erie. This is an awesome space in downtown Sandusky that was built inside an old building and pays tribute to the history of the town with the decor. I went inside for breakfast at the Sandusky Bell and Deli, so after we ate, we took the time to explore. There's an axe throwing place, a clothing boutique, an edible cookie dough place that I regret not trying out, a bakery and what appears to be a miniature bowling alley that is in construction. I make it back to Sandusky every couple months, so for my next visit I will make it a point to spend some time in the businesses inside the building. This awesome new little marketplace just opened in a formerly vacant building in Downtown Sandusky, and I'm very impressed so far. There are a couple shopping options and some kind of axe throwing place, but I'm more interested in the food. There are three unique and impressive options, unlike many of the other options in the area. The most unique of the 3 is an awesome edible cookie dough place called Doughin' Crazy. It is absolutely epic!! There is also a bakery called Bake Erie, which has a pretty great selection of baked goods. The final option is a tiny bbq place called Derrick Jr., which is a spin-off/satelite location of Derrick's Diner. Anyone who has ever eaten at Derrick's Diner will agree that it's worth checking out. The whole complex is very impressive so far, and it's in a very convienent location, so I'd say it's absolutely worth checking out if you're passing by or work/live downtown. read more

I love this concept and it's something that Sandusky needs! There are a few little shops, a deli, a bbq take out, icecream/cookie dough shop, a bar, 4 lanes of duckpin bowling, ax throwing, and a children's museum. They have taken and restored of the the old buildings and are making it something for everyone!! I was there in the summer shortly after it opened and it has been expanding and growing so that's exciting. We bowled and had beers and cookie dough. The bowling is smooshed with some virtual reality stations. They really need to separate it. There was not enough seating. They should make it so that each lane has a table. It just opened so I get that it's a work in progress. As is the bar that the bartender said it just opened. They have take out six packs of a pretty good variety but also beer and liquor you can sit and stay. The bar it's self was a big section of a tree that was nicely done and I thought was pretty cool. It's 4 stars because the place is a work in progress. I hope that people think it's as cool as I do! The Marketplace at the Cooke is definitely one of the treasures you must visit when you come to Sandusky. There is a lot to do and ensures fun for the whole family. I highly recommend going for the axe throwing. read more
