It's like a UK vision of Target in the US now - lots of very high-quality merchandise at not unreasonable prices. The cafe here is particularly nice. We had snacks on the first occasion and a bigger meal on the second. A great selection of choices, all served very swiftly by extremely helpful staff. (The peculiarly British quirk of being unable to swap out one side dish for another was a problem on one occasion -- "No, I'm sorry, the manager won't let us do that" is about as useless a response as "Yeah, we don't seem to care what you want; you should have what we've got and be happy!' -- but I'll forgive that because their coffee was actually drinkable, unlike most department store cafes.)

I went to the store at he weekend to buy some things for my new home - bins, pillows, cutlery storage, towels... and I am happy to say they had virtually everything on the list (although some was on the pricey side and I bought elsewhere). It wasn't easy to find everything - the kitchen department is a bit haphazard, but if you hunt you'll eventually find what you're after. The main problem with the store in Welwyn Garden City is the building. There are three floors and it's a maze. Different areas are in separate small rooms so it's very difficult to find what you're looking for. I feel like a floor plan or more signs would be really helpful because it would be very easy to get lost. The website suggests there's store parking (for a fee), but even if you can't find that there are many options nearby.

There is also an H&M, River Island and a Jane Norman. There is also a TK Maxx there but I tend to find this pretty messy and not very clearly laid out. Unfortunately, there is no late night here so the shops never open past 5.30pm. The shopping centre, however, does open on Sundays from 11am until 5pm.

I never really went shopping here because, while it has a fair number of shops, it never really has anything that you want or need. Guess that could be just me. The cinema is where I spent most of my days, chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool and watching some films after school. The cinema is average price with student discount and with your standard of sugary rubbish to enjoy while watching a film. The cinema screens themselves are good, the Digital screen is awesome, but the chairs and leg room leave something to be desired. It can get quite uncomfortable if you're a tall and are in a packed screening, but this rarely happens here, which is a other bonus. All in all a good place to while a way a fair number of hours with friends or that special someone.

A large open area in the centre was laid out as a furniture vendoes. The stuff was ugly..even tasteless..and overpriced. Quite a few restaurants..untried but mostly the usual chains. The only saving grace, for me, was a pleasant cinema complex where we went to see Stardust. So much anticipation..such a disappointment.

It has the usual High Street names, ie Dorothy Perkins, River Island, Burtons, Claires Accessories, Thorntons etc. they also ocaasionally have small stalls set out in the middle selling gifty type items. They do special events in the school holidays and to promote other keys times, ie Halloween or Christmas. It has an undercover carpark attached, which is not too expensive and is good for when it is raining. There are two coffeee shops in the middle, my favourite is Esquires. All in all, this is a good place to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon, for some retail therapy.
