I have not watched a theatre performance there but spent an evening there when Tap Dogs was on in 2002. Cannot really remember how exactly the interior looked like but there must have been some upper rear stalls. Don't miss out the Theatre Pub next to the theatre. Anyway, nicely located in the town centre. Update 2012: The originial Theatre Pub doesn't exist anymore. The old theatre has been refurbished and now has a very modern appearance. read more

If you're staying in good ol' Canters for a few days, I'd definitely recommend a visit the Marlowe theatre. During my undergrad years here, it was actually still under renovation and well, I'm shallow and new buildings always excite me. Marlowe is no different, it's definitely ready for big crowds and summer time drinks outside the patio. They've made a large patio and even decorated it with a happy theatre mask which is creepy at night, and if you're a bit drunk and high. (Students will most likely be that!) Inside the theatre itself is a theatre worthy of big big productions, I think they have 4 levels of seats, somehow, we managed to bag front row centre tickets to see Sarah Millican (to be fair, we booked 18 months in advanced!) The only qualms I have is that they definitely cater to the the locals and not students because the prices for drinks are STEEEEEEP. £4.10 for a frigging single oj and vodka. (I might just go the to student bars beforehand, thanks. If any of you feel the same way, and not local to Canterbury, drop me a line and I'll direct you to the uni campus so if you do want to drink like a student and give the liver a wake up call, you'll know where to go-also SNAKEBITE. Lovely theatre with great views wherever you sit. A wide ranging program of shows and gigs, means you can generally find at least one thing a month you would like to see there and its not badly priced for the location and type of venue. Right in the heart of canterbury parking is an issue, especially if its a popular event, but its worth the hassle. I really like this theatre and try to visit as often as i can. read more

The newly designed theatre looks fabulous. Lots of glass and beautiful wood everywhere. We went along to see 'Yes Primeminister' which we thoroughly enjoyed. We sat in the front row of the circle. Fabulous view but not enough leg room which was quite uncomfortable. Will not book that row again. Also down in the stalls I think there should be a centre aisle as you have to disturb about 15 people to get to the middle seats. It is also very difficult to find your seat as the numbers are well hidden. We were served very quickly at the bar by good staff and the restaurant looks very nice. read more

Always good shows on at the marlowe. I think when the new marlowe has been finished it will be a superb venue.

I attended a human puppet show there,the ones where the actors dress up in black and then operate the puppets on stage. The seating and views were excellent and the acoustics very good. I'd be happy to go back and I've been told Festive Season pantomimes there are very popular. Parking is easy and there are a range of restaurants nearby. I'd choose this over the trek into the West End. read more
