I can hear pretty early on a Sunday before the real dinner rush and could pretty much much sit wherever, but I opted for the bar and was fortunate enough to catch a good NFL game on tv. My bartender asked if I wanted a hot drink because I was freezing and I got a coffee. After I got it, he said he was brewing a fresh pot, which is great because clearly my first cup was the bottom of a pot from the morning. The fresh one was much better... I got the Guinness stew and it was pretty good! The meat & potatoes were great, but the green beans were almost raw and too chewy without any much seasoning; they really didn't belong with the stew. read more

Arrived early for dinner last night with a group of friends. Decided to go to the bar and ordered a DRY gin Martini. The bartender was very nice but clearly inexperienced since what I got was not a dry martini :( Ah well at least my friends arrived. Not sure if they were shortstaffed or not, but after we were seated it took almost 10 minutes for our server to come over and get our drink order. One of my friends actually had to go ask where our server was. Not an auspicous start to the meal. After we got our drinks, our server seemed to hit her stride. She was fairly attentive throughout the rest of the evening. Food was "fine" but not anything special. One of my friends had to send her meal back for being undercooked, it came back 3 minutes later and she said it seemed like all they did was put it under a heat lamp for 2 minutes. :( Overall not impressed . read more

We got here with our 2 grandkids 40 minutes before they opened-they had just hosted a private party and were giving their staff a break before reopening. Despite our early arrival, they were great and very solicitous. They sat us early and got our dinners ready. Great service and delicious food. Driving home from a day at the beach we stopped in Wilton to get dinner. It's a Monday And all the places are closed! Wait we see a sign saying Marly's and we turn into the retail area/parking lot. The restaurant is tucked away but yes, it seems to be a nice cozy place. The staff was just so friendly and we were specially enjoyed speaking to Liam. We had potsticker dumplings which were delicious. We shared an entree some chicken dish I forget now. We also had a nice exchange with a young couple at the next table who just had a baby and were out on their first post delivery date! All in all a delightful experience. Thank you! Marley's Bar and Barfstro made me sick as a dog!! I used to like this place until this evening. For starters the "host" with the ponytail ignored all 5 of us standing there for a good 5 minutes before seating us. Not even a hello and it wasn't busy. RUDE. The ordering process took a long time and when the servers delivered the food it was passed to the wrong recipients at the table. Now at 3:18 AM I am dealing with food poisoning! I had the chicken salad with shrimp added. I think the shrimp was raw! Terrible mistake!! Been throwing up andI will NEVER come back here again. Sad because I was the one who recommended coming here. We have eaten at Marly's for years and have never been disappointed. Last night we stopped in for a very late dinner and the waitstaff were attentive and warm despite our being so late. My wife had the French dip which was excellent (yes, I did try it) and my Blue Burger was very good as was the side of squash I had instead of fries. This was my first experience at Marly's. As with most things, the level of service is in the eye of the beholder. It was a weeknight and the place was not crowded. The four of us sat outside on the patio along with about 4 other tables of people. The service was slow and at least 5 minutes passed before someone came to take a drink order. Three of us ordered regular items from the menu and one ordered the daily special. The special was very tasty, but the other items were incredibly bland with the chicken parm tasting (and looking) like it came from a microwave with a dash of canned pasta sauce on it. You could argue that it was a leisurely meal, but I got the sense that service was not a key element for them. While they were very pleasant when we got their attention, the mediocre food is not something that I will be going back for. read more

Our small party of 8 made reservations and planned several weeks ahead. Upon arrival the tables were not set and staff rushed to serve warm wine. They left us and returned at leisure to take our orders. They served the hangar steak cold and dry that had been left on the counter, cold onion rings and French fries that were tepid and spinach that was not fresh. Our 3 plates were exactly the same temperatures and I spoke with the chef. If the chef of 8 years allowed these meals to be served, I'm deeply disappointed and we will not return. read more

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years. However, our experience hasn't been great last few visits. I came in for a quiet dinner after long day work while the restaurant was mostly empty. Five minutes later a 4 high top was seated next to me with a loud grandma and her grandkids with many empty tables. The young staff arranging seating should be trained probably. Made a reservation for 7p on a friday night. When the hostess struggles with finding your res, the writing is on the wall. Restaurant is incredibly noisy. Chock full of kids at dinner time. Ok so fine they have to eat too. We were seated in a back room with a fake fire place and glass doors that closed off some of the main dining room noise but the space was narrow and felt cramped. After being seated and waiting entirely too long for a waiter, we tried to flag one down. No luck. After 20 minutes (seriously!) we got one. Ordered drinks, which came quickly although my martini came with a lime rather than olive. Service improved after that, as the crowd thinned. The food was good. I don't blame the waitstaff. They were slammed at the height of the dinner hour. It's obvious the place is poorly managed and the waitstaff are young and inexperienced. Not worth the visit. read more

The meal was excellent, the appetizers were very good. We chose the blackened Mahi Mahi for our entrees. Very simple presentation but cooked to perfection. Normally people can over cook such things but this was spot on and very flavorable. A great experience for us. I would have given five starts but the dessert was lacking. Freeze and thaw cheese cake that tasted like it had been in the box a little too long. But heck I didn't expect them to have a dessert chef. We will be back. read more

I was impressed by this casual lunch and dinner spot. Nicely decorated with ample room and easily accessible with plenty of parking. The staff is great, and I think the new chef is on target !!! I eat here about once a week or so. Jack the bar tender is great. Food is good and lots of interesting salads.

Everyone at work swears by these fish tacos for lunch. Fresh, big portion, overall yum. Very slow service though, so be prepared for an hour and a half lunch. read more
