I originally had been following Gold City Hair on Instagram for a year or so prior to my hair…read moretransplant. I noticed their results were some of the best I'd seen, but I was quite skeptical about flying abroad for the procedure as there is so much competition in Turkey regarding hair transplants. I finally got in touch with them via WhatsApp around April 2020 and sent over some pictures of my current hair loss. They quickly get back to you with a price proposition and a breakdown of what you will receive in the package. The procedure itself (maximum grafts) 5* Hotel for 3 nights, all Airport/Clinic transfers are included, also shampoos and other aftercare products.. the only thing you have to cover are flights. I went ahead and booked my procedure but it was cancelled due to covid, I rescheduled for July. Day 1 - arrived at Istanbul airport on the night, a driver was waiting in arrivals with a name card, they transfer you to the hotel in a luxury Mercedes minivan with their logo etched on the side, they really pride themselves in making sure every part of the experience is top quality and professional. They check you in and show you to your room, my first impressions were great, they take care of all your luggage and bags. The hotel was awesome, very clean and the room was well equipped. Day 2 - the actual procedure, I woke up and had breakfast, they pick you up from the hotel reception and take you to the clinic where they will design your new hairline and advise you on what will suite you, based on your previous natural hairline and the density that can be achieved.. this is all down to your donor area so please take their advice and trust their opinion on what will suite you, they know more than you do The worst part of the procedure was the initial local anasthetic which was baraeble for me, but this is down to how you are with needles. They ensure you are comfortable at all times and allow you toilet/drink/food breaks whenever you want.. you can watch YouTube videos and go on your phone throughout most of the procedure once they have extracted the grafts. The overall procedure took around 8 or 9 hours and by the end I must admit I felt very drained but I had no pain. Sleeping was uncomfortable for the first night, this is mainly because you have to sleep almost upright with a neck pillow.. don't be alarmed by any leakage of fluid from the back of your head this is completely normal and they provide pillow pads. Day 3 - removing the bandage and dressing, they take you to the clinic where they remove all of the bandages and clean up the back of your head, it was nice to get them off.. after that you go back to your hotel to chill out, I'd advise you bring some form of entertainment such a laptop or ipad.. I binged Netflix and ordered room service for most of it Day 4 - relax and order room service.. they constantly check up on you via WhatsApp and make sure you're doing fine post op, they give you antibiotics and painkillers as standard for the first few days. Day 5 - They drive you to the clinic where they will wash your head for the first time, this is fine but the cold water feels a bit sensitive on your head, nothing bad though.. after this I was given plenty of sprays and shampoos to help me throughout recovery and was taken to the airport to catch my flight home, I had met a couple of other lads during my time there who had also been to Gold City Hair and turned out to be on the same flight as me so it was good to have a bit of company and you don't feel like the only one! Trust me I saw about 10 other lads in the airport who had the procedure and this was during covid when you'd expect less people.. nobody bats and eyelid, this procedure is very common in Turkey. I'm just over 6 months post op and the results so far are outstanding! This is probably the best thing I've ever done and has brought me so much confidence.
