From the very beginning the entire process with Mark was seamless. Due to COVID 19 our wedding day got postponed on two separate occasions but this was not a problem at all. He accommodated our new date and made the changes easy. From initial emails and calls, to our online chat before the big day, Mark was fantastic at communicating. He took any stress away, made us feel at ease and even took the time to get to know our love story, wedding party and guests so he could make references throughout the night - we knew we were in safe hands! On our wedding day Mark did not disappoint but instead exceeded our expectations! The music choice was just perfect, the dance floor was full the entire time and nobody wanted the night to end. Personable, professional and super talented. Mark you are incredible at what you do and we cannot recommend you enough!

When I heard that a Gin Festival was hitting Digbeth, there wasn't a chance I was going to miss out. So, the Gin Festival was planned over the same weekend of City of Colours which meant that Digbeth had one buzzing weekend planned. I had hoped to get out on Saturday, but after hitting a nightclub on Friday night for a friends birthday; I was a little worse for wear in the day and didn't make it. It did mean that I had a rather special Sunday instead (which ended up being an even better choice than originally planned). Enough with the wittering and down to business... The Bond is located off the main drag of Digbeth and the other side of Heath Mill Lane from the entrance to the Custard Factory. You can walk down Digbeth High Street to get there, but we found it significantly quicker to walk down Fazeley Street from behind the back of Hotel La Tour. It's not that obvious when walking down from Fazeley Street, but one you get outside it there is a big iron sign which tells you that you have arrived. I imagine the building was once a warehouse used for stocking barges (as it's well positioned right next to the canal with a small area for boats to pull in), but it's now an events space. First thing of note... it's pretty big. There is plenty of outdoor space both covered and uncovered and a couple of buildings that were being utilised for the Gin Festival. It may be even bigger than this, but we only saw what was being used on the weekend. It has a large conference style room with a toilet block towards the back, a further indoor space with a smaller room and another toilet block and a large "car park" style area and another largish covered area outside. There is a cafe onsite (which was serving hot dogs on the weekend) but I'm not sure what the permanent fixtures of the site are as I have only been for the one event. I have to say, I really liked this venue. I liked the layout, the mix of outdoor and indoor spaces and the plentiful loos. Seeing as the event was held on a scorching Sunday afternoon, the shaded areas were very welcome and everything was laid out very sensitively. I would definitely attend another event in this space! I can't comment on drinks prices (as I was at a drinks based event), but I'll have to update this review if I get back to more events here.

The are also two big rooms which can be hired out for weddings or markets. I came to a wedding in October and it was warm and cosy and the food was great. This weekend I came along to a winter food market. They had plenty of temporary food shacks set up in the courtyard selling waffles and burgers etc but inside there was stalls selling breads, pies, beers, as well as goods like cards and jewellery. It was a cold but sunny day and a pleasant place to be in. Only a ten min walk from the City Centre I would say.

Years ago, I attended a few industry events here - all amazing. More recently, I have been to amazing events in the amazing Symphony Hall, housed within the ICC including Glen Campbell and the exclusive event when Beverly Knight got her 'Broad Street Star.' However, my best experience was actually recently when I had a behind the scenes tour for which they allocated one of their security guards - the man in the know - to do this for us. The way this place transforms with a touch of a button (or hundreds of buttons) to make every event special is amazing. As a bonus, he had so many back stage stories to tell it was hugely entertaining!

Most people see it as a corridor from Centenary Square to the canals and Brindley Place and in a lot of ways it is. I'd much prefer to walk through the ICC to get to the canals then walk that small stretch of Broad Street especially at night/in the rain. However, what a lot of people don't realise is behind the fronts you walk past there are over 10 halls, some with the capacity to hold over a thousand delegates. They're all really swanky too, and they have a wonderful events team that can transform any space as far as the client's imagination can reach. The staff are friendly and always smiley. A great place to pop to the toilet too if you're in town.

I've been here a few times over the years. Mostly, it's been to see their open days which are free…read moreto enter. It's a lovely old house that's great to see is still intact and right on our doorstep. Whenever there are events on you get to see inside the building. There are loads of lovely rooms both downstairs and up and the main reception hall is quite a space. When the events are on inside, you'll find various stalls dotted round both floors and in almost all the rooms. This can make it quite tricky to squeeze round with a pushchair, and my daughter wasn't too keen on the crowds squashing her in tighter spots. For me the best tine to go if you want to take the whole family are the summer open days, the next one is 15th July. You can get round both the house and gardens and there's just more space as everyone's not crammed into the one space at the same time-unless it's raining, of course! There are refreshments available and on family special days, there are lots of activities for the kids to join in. Later still I went to a brilliant play here - all Victorian melodrama and audience participation. Anyway this weekend I was lucky enough to be invited to a wedding here and I have to say the setting, the gardens, the ambiance, the staff - everything was perfect. Things that stick out - apart from the fact I got to wear a fascinator, which was of course brilliant - the main reception room with staircase is stunning. Secondly the room where the wedding took place - with patio doors that lead out to the garden was straight out of Downton Abbey - and because it was south facing I could blame the sunlight for making my eyes stream (and not have to admit I was blubbing because it was all so lovely). Thirdly - the grounds - absolutely resplendent. The whole event was incredibly well organised and the staff were really, really sweet. I can't recommend this enough really - history buffs take note - this was the family home of Birmingham MP Joseph Chamberlain MP who lived here from 1878 onwards. When my fabulous nail lady Beena moved premises to Tip Top and gave me directions, I was totally confused... "Which photography studio in the JQ?"... Once you have located it (there are signs outside) and climbed the staircase, you'll be greeted by one of the residents of the building. The studio is at the back of the set up with a bathroom, beauticians, office space and an agency all housed together. The studio itself is wonderful. Not huge, but set out with distinct areas for different styles of photoshoots. There is also a dressing room at the back for touching up your style pre-shoot. As well as product shoots, the studio do private shoots, themed event days (where live animals come into the studio), family shoots and photography courses. I'm pretty confident that you could become a Tip Top photographer yourself under the care of Debbie and Steve. This is a gem of a photography studio in the Jewellery Quarter. If you're looking to have some shots done, I thoroughly recommend it!

I discovered the studio recently, at an evening of photography and cocktails organised by Yelp. As part of the event we each got complimentary head shots taken by the Tip Top crew. I'm quite camera shy, especially in a room full of people, but the photographer and director were really friendly and professional and put me at ease quickly. I was advised on where to stand, in which direction to look and how I could pose, whilst the photographer snapped away. Shortly after the event I got one of the finished head shots by email - easy peasy! The studio is quite large and well equipped. They have a range of different backdrops and props for you to use, ranging from a scroll top bathtub to a tiny wooden horse. There's even a dedicated sprucing up area at the back, should you require a quick costume change. I would definitely recommend Tip Top to anyone who wants to get some professional photos taken. They are friendly and professional and it was a fun experience!

I first heard about The Space in May of 2014 and knew that it would be a very cool venue for an…read moreevent. Looking around at the places in the city, I wanted to have a Launch event for #BrumHour at a creative and fresh venue. The owner, Chandeep has been a great champion of BrumHour, so it felt right that the venue would be the best host. I went down to The Space for the first time at the start of August 2014 and the three rooms vary a lot in size. However, they are all painted a brilliant white with high ceilings and huge windows to let a lot of natural light in. The main room is the carter room and can host around 50 people. When I came to host my event at the start of February 2015, I had 30 people and 5 tables with creative businesses from around Birmingham to share their project work on them. Chandeep was very clear about pricing, and timescales and this gave me a huge confidence boost that everything would run pretty smoothly. I hired the venue for 4 hours and used it for a 2 hour event including setup and going live. It can be used as a dance and drama rehearsal space, a creative gallery, a small theatre room or even a board room! Check out the website for more photos.

I like businesses that go the extra mile. I like people who anticipate what will make my life easier. The Space scored massively on all these counts. So, we needed a small meeting room away from our busy office to strategize and plan. All our usual meeting options where full, other venues either couldn't be bothered responding or were to pricey or not quite right. Normally a local coffee shop or similar could fit the bill, but not for this kind of meeting. I knew of The Space through Twitter, as another Jewellery Quarter business, so I dropped them a line. I quick response confirmed everything I needed to know and prices where very competitive. Booking was super easy. We all arrived to be greeted by the helpful and friendly owner (I think) and shown around. Our room was perfect. Tea and coffee and biscuits provided, self serve. The tea mugs were neatly arranged, the tea spoons were ready in clean water, water jug and glasses all arranged on the table, the heater was on, the chairs and tables just right. What this attention to details means is that we could simply relax and focus on the business of the day. It was a great meeting and the venue and service received went at least some way towards allowing that to happen. Worth noting that although The Space is kinda in the middle of an industrial estate it's also very close to the bus routes on Great Hampton St, the JQ station and maybe 5-6 minutes walk from Snow Hill. You can also grab a nice lunch at the equally excellent The Lord Clifden if you need to, tho the venue does do meeting catering upon request. Highly recommended all 'round!
