Samson back in June. RIP Samson (11/08/2025).

It's not the ideal way to visit this hospital but due to my dog's emergencies, I've had several visits here within the last six months. Yes, it can get expensive but this is an emergency hospital- they are equipped with all the necessary diagnostic tools. Some services can cost a lot more than your day vet. But some services like getting an ultrasound is cheaper than your day vet because they have the staff who can read results and the equipment on site. You visit this hospital when your normal day vet is unable to handle the emergency. My normal day vet ran blood work on my dog and the levels were toxic in the liver. I took him to his ophthalmologist who recommended he be taken into this hospital immediately. All of the doctors here are very well educated and the techs are detailed when taking an intake. I already had blood work from my day vet and the doctors here will take that so you're. It running another panel. I cannot imagine being in their shoes seeing pet related tragedies day in and day out. I was able to prepare myself due to the correct diagnosis I received here. Unfortunately my dog passed away due to being in the late stages of having liver cancer. I had another vet emergency where Marqueen was closed since it was past midnight back in July. That hospital supposedly ran an ultrasound on my dog. I wish I had it done here because Marqueen is so much more competent. I'm just grateful for the sympathetic staff who did their best to provide excellent care for my dog. I've had to wait three hours during one of my visits before because they work on triage. I've also had the staff take my dog immediately due to the dire circumstances. I know it can feel stressful and hard to wait at length but they really know their stuff and how to triage accordingly. When I did wait for a while, I was given a private room to wait with my dog. Thanks to Marqueen, I found out my dog had liver cancer and I was able to spend the week with him as much as I could before my dog told me it was time for him to go. We had to bring him back here in an emergency visit and he was going so fast they brought us back into the emergency operating table to say goodbye so I can see my dog and he can see us before he left the world. The staff gave us the time to cry and prepared his body to take home with us so our other dog can see his body and process that the brother she spent all of her life with, was gone. The staff brought him out to the car because we were going to have him buried rather than cremated. They provided a bag and warned us that his body may excrete fluids and the bag will help so the fluids don't leak. Everyone was compassionate and supportive during one of the most difficult times I ever had to go through.

Over Valentine's Day weekend, our cat Luna needed emergency surgery, a situation no pet parent ever wants to face. The team at MarQueen in Upland was incredible from start to finish. They acted quickly, communicated clearly, and treated Luna with genuine care and professionalism. During an extremely stressful time, they made us feel supported and informed every step of the way. Luna is now home recovering, and we're deeply grateful to the doctors, surgeons, and nursing staff who took such good care of her. If you need emergency veterinary care, this is a place you can trust.

I brought my dog in because she had been vomiting all day and couldn't keep any food or water down. I knew something was very wrong, so I rushed her in for an emergency exam. Even though they were very busy, the staff started helping her right away and were always kind--I never once felt overlooked or unimportant. Dr. Polina quickly figured out the problem with an X-ray--my dog had a foreign body and needed surgery as soon as possible. Throughout the night and into the next day, Dr. Polina, Dr. Zamora, and the rest of the staff continued checking on her. Now my dog is healing, and I'm so grateful for their quick action, compassion, and expertise. Pumpkin and I truly appreciate everything they did. I highly recommend bringing your pets here if you want a team that genuinely cares and provides exceptional care.

MarQueen Veterinary Specialty Group saved my dog Brooklyn's life. He was diagnosed with a severe, sudden-onset autoimmune disease (IMHA), and it was through their care and intervention that we got through one of the hardest experiences I've ever faced. Brooklyn required two blood transfusions to stabilize. From the beginning, the team kept me consistently updated, and whenever I needed additional information, they made themselves available without hesitation. During his 5-day hospitalization, they allowed me to spend a significant amount of time with him. I never once felt rushed or like I was in the way. That mattered more than I can explain. What stands out to me is how Brooklyn responds to them now. Even after everything he went through, he isn't afraid to go back for checkups. He's still low in energy, but he wags his tail vigorously when he sees the staff. That says a lot. Everyone at MarQueen has been excellent, but I want to especially recognize Jess. Her warmth and compassion made a real difference during an incredibly uncertain and frightening time. Brooklyn is my heart dog. I love him deeply, but I was also faced with the reality that I didn't want to prolong his life if he was suffering. The doctors, especially Dr. Zamora, took the time to talk me through everything with patience, compassion, and thoughtful guidance. I never felt pressured--just supported. It's now been almost exactly one month since his diagnosis, and Brooklyn is continuing to improve. His ongoing care is with Dr. Yi, who I now see about once a month. She is clear, responsive, and genuinely a joy to be around. Her energy makes a difficult situation feel more manageable. When you're going through something this serious, the people caring for your pet matter just as much as the treatment itself. At MarQueen, you get both skilled medical care and truly compassionate support.

My fur baby Kobe needed emergency services, and Marqueen Veterinary Hospital was truly the best place we could have gone. Kobe was vomiting, unable to keep food or water down, and clearly in pain and discomfort. The staff immediately checked his vitals, got him admitted, and treated us with such care and compassion. It turned out Kobe had eaten something that was moving through his intestines toward his colon. What I appreciated most was that the doctors didn't rush him into unnecessary surgery. They carefully monitored him and determined it wasn't a full blockage and that he'd likely pass it on his own. After three days of hospitalization, Kobe was getting a little depressed (& mama too), so the doctors recommended I take him home, assuring me I could bring him right back if anything changed. At home, he's eating a little more, pooping a little more, and we're just waiting for him to fully pass whatever he swallowed. Our fur babies are family, and they deserve the very best care. I can't thank Dr. Roth, techs Desiree and Megan, and the entire Marqueen staff enough for their professionalism, kindness, and dedication. Highly recommend this hospital for anyone who needs emergency or specialty care for their pets!

    Pearl our Cat
    Richelle D.

Our Cat Pearl was declining over the last month, and when I called MarQueen (referred by our vet) they were compassionate about our situation and made our experience comfortable for us and our cat. Sadly, she went over the rainbow bridge and will rest in peace. Dr. Strasser was kind and helped us say good by to Pearl. The staff was also kind, professional and caring about our cat's situation. I highly recommend their services.

WORST PLACE EVER TO TAKE YOUR PETS. DONT COME HERE. Came on a Tuesday evening to put my cat down and they come up with all these crazy prices to just do the bare minimum. Just for an exam, $175. For euthanasia, $155 & to even leave my poor lifeless cats, they were going to charge $120 or more. NOT EVEN INCLUDING cremation or taking anything home, they were going to charge almost $300. I don't understand how people can keep coming here and giving them the business. These are actual lives and I can't believe these heartless people/Dr. Rest in peace, my sweet Pumpkin girl. I NEVER write any yelp reviews or any negative comments on any business. But this place easily takes the cake. I will never recommend this place to anyone. This is something I will never forget nor my family.

    Sunny girl

We can't thank Marqueen Emergency Vet in Upland enough -- they literally saved our dog Sunny's life. Sunny had stopped keeping anything down, and an X-ray revealed a large mass. It was a dire situation, and we were terrified we might lose her. We know we can be crazy high-maintenance pet parents, but the entire team was so incredibly patient and understanding with us throughout the whole process. From the moment we walked in, everyone was professional, compassionate, and efficient. Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim performed emergency surgery and successfully removed a massive 3 1/2-pound tumor from Sunny's liver. He truly saved her life and prevented what could have been a tragic outcome. Dr. Ibrahim is our hero! A special shout-out to Casey and Alicia for their kindness and support during such a stressful time. The entire staff at Marqueen went above and beyond (Dr Queen, Dr Strasser, Dr Yi, Dr Travis) - I am probably not including everyone ....that treated Sunny (and us) with such care and expertise. If your pet is ever in an emergency, we highly recommend Marqueen Emergency Vet in Upland without hesitation. They are truly lifesavers!

    Simon

One week ago, we unfortunately had to make the difficult decision to put our dog Simon to sleep due to circumstances outside of our control. When we called MarQueen Pet Emergency and Specialty Group, the compassion was immediately felt and heard over the phone. Once we got there, one of their staff assisted in carrying Simon out of the car as he was unable to walk at the time. He was immediately taken back to be assessed. Dr. Strasser was the emergency veterinarian there that night and he calmly, compassionately, and honestly explained our options in detail. Thanks to his transparency, we were able to come together as a family to get through the next steps together. He was truly caring during his time with us. The staff was amazing - I wish I could remember exactly who it was that helped us, but they were all phenomenal. One of the front desk staff assured us that we could take our time saying goodbye to Simon and even allowed extended family who loved Simon as well to bring him one last meal and to say goodbye. They continued to assure us that we should not be in any rush and to take our time. Our family's last few moments with Simon were filled with lots of tears, but also lots of love and snuggles as MarQueen's staff so graciously and generously provided the best experience they could under the circumstance we were in. I'll never forget the tenderness and kindness that was shown to us. When it was time to say goodbye to Simon, my husband and I stayed with him while Dr. Strasser got started on the process. He calmly and quietly explained everything he was doing and once it was all over, he offered us comforting words and also gave us some extra time to be with Simon one last time. When we were ready, two other staff members came in and told us how sorry they were for our loss and compassionately took our pup. We picked up his ashes yesterday after MarQueen called us and told us Simon had just arrived back at their clinic. We got some pastries for the staff and Dr. Strasser as a thank you and while the staff was different from last week, all of the ones we encountered yesterday were equally as kind, understanding, and compassionate. Thank you, MarQueen, for helping our family in this difficult time and for helping our Simon cross the rainbow bridge. We'll never forget the love and care you showed him in the short time you knew him.

    Thank you, Dr Strasser

He had been in a slow decline that suddenly turned rapid, and I knew we were at the end. What stood out most was the veterinarian's honesty. They checked his vitals, but we didn't pursue extensive diagnostics. Instead, he spoke candidly about what he was seeing--neurologically, Baxter was not himself and had clearly lost significant muscle mass. At his age, there was likely more going on than one treatable issue. The veterinarian could have easily recommended a long list of tests. Instead, he gave me real guidance. When I asked what he would do if it were his own dog, he told me he would choose euthanasia at this stage, explaining that "a day or a week too early is better than a day too late" to avoid unnecessary suffering. I had been struggling with this decision for a while, and that honesty helped me feel confident I was doing the right thing. It meant everything. Once I made the decision, the compassion from the staff was incredible. They handled everything with such care, dignity, and kindness. I've also been here before when Baxter was first diagnosed with heart failure, and had the same experience. The veterinarian literally told me it wasn't an emergency and that I could either proceed with treatment there or follow up with my regular vet the next day and save the cost of emergency care. That level of transparency really stuck with me. I'm truly grateful for this team and this office. If you're ever in a difficult situation with your pet, this is a place where you'll receive honest, compassionate care--not pressure to run unnecessary tests or take advantage of a vulnerable moment. Five stars, without hesitation.

While I was still trying to explain the situation, the doctor "examined" him for less than five minutes. He weighed him, listened to his heart briefly, put a Q-tip in his rectum and sniffed it, then quickly told me my puppy was "stable." I immediately told him he was NOT stable. My puppy is normally energetic, playful, constantly running around and biting toes. This behavior was completely abnormal for him. Instead of taking my concerns seriously, the doctor handed me paperwork to fill out and left the room. When he returned, he again insisted my puppy was stable. I tried showing him videos of what had been happening, but he barely looked. Instead, he placed my puppy on the floor, watched him take a few weak steps, and said, "See? He's stable. He's walking." I left feeling completely dismissed and gaslit into believing maybe I was overreacting. I could not understand why no vitals, imaging, bloodwork, or proper diagnostics were being done for a puppy who had vomited blood and experienced breathing issues. Yet somehow, the brief visit ....including sniffing a Q-tip of poop ...still cost around $100. After going home, my puppy became increasingly lethargic, and I tried desperately to hydrate him myself. When his condition worsened, I rushed him to another animal hospital. That team immediately took the situation seriously and performed a thorough, actual examination while doing everything they could to help him. Unfortunately, by then it was too late, and my puppy passed away. I will always question whether things could have been different if Dr. Kim had truly taken my concerns seriously from the beginning. When trying to advocate I was trying to show him how he normal looked vs how he looked on the table. But was still dismissed.

Most recently, I brought my cat in for an eye issue and was quoted over $600 for an exam, sedation, tests, and medication. The price immediately felt extremely high, especially for an eye infection, so I decided to call another veterinary clinic to compare. The other clinic examined both of my cat's eyes, and the total cost came out to under $120 including medication. They also determined that sedation was not necessary at all. My cat was calm, friendly, and even purring during the exam, which made me question why sedation was being pushed so strongly at the first clinic. This clinic does not allow pet owners to accompany their animals due to "safety protocols," so it left me wondering how my cat was being handled during the visit. Another frustrating part of the experience is that you don't actually speak directly with the doctor. All communication goes through the technician, who goes back and forth between you and the doctor. As a pet owner, I would much rather speak directly with the veterinarian responsible for my pet's care, instead of receiving information through a middle person. At the other clinic, the doctor was with me during the entire exam, explaining everything step by step, which felt much more transparent and reassuring. What also shocked me was that they mentioned charging a fee for each CPR attempt in case of an emergency. As a worried pet owner, hearing about additional charges like that felt extremely discouraging and overwhelming. Isn't the priority supposed to be protecting the life of the animal under their care? This unfortunately isn't my first bad experience here. During a previous visit, my cat needed a cast. After the procedure, she was still sedated and very sleepy, and the cast fell off immediately after we got home. She had barely moved, so it clearly wasn't my fault or my cat's fault. I called the clinic hoping they would fix it since it appeared to be an issue with how the cast was applied, but they charged me again to redo it. At the time I didn't push for a refund because my cat's wellbeing came first. Looking back now after this second experience, I truly feel I deserve a refund for that cast, since the issue was not caused by anything I did or by my cat. I do want to say that the front desk staff have always been kind and supportive, and I appreciate them. However, overall my experiences with this clinic have been very disappointing. I care deeply about my cat and want a veterinary office that is honest, transparent, and focused on the animal's wellbeing, not adding unnecessary services that dramatically increase the bill. There are other veterinary clinics in the area that provide great care without making pet owners feel this way. I strongly encourage others to seek a second opinion before committing to treatment here.

A lady came out not to greet us but told us that they close at 11PM due to new management and this is place is sold to another company. The doctor was seeing the last patient of the day and was referring us to another clinic in Glendora. We told her to please ask the doctor to take a look at our cat. We are willing to pay double the visiting fee. She went in for about 5 minutes and then another gentleman came out and told us the same thing. The clinic was sold and we close at 11PM now, etc. I took out my phone and showed him that it's 10:27PM. He said they wouldn't have enough time to do procedures to our cat. I told him our cat is old and he can't handle that much pressure anymore going to Glendora.. Long story short, this place has last call like some high end restaurant and I'm guessing everyone wants to get off work right at 11PM. Good luck with the "new management last call clinic". I miss him so much already and I'm happy this place was here for us. ************************ I'm surprised at how low the Yelp rating is here. My best guess is that when people love an animal and have to spend big bucks on emergency surgeries and such, the frustration bleeds thru to reviews. In life or death scenarios, our emotions run high and sometimes expect too much from people who can only do so much? Nothing about our experience here indicated haphazard or inconsiderate care, for what that's worth.

On the early morning of May 7th, I brought my dog in for labored breathing. After X-rays, the vet determined he had an asthma attack caused by allergies and that his lungs were inflamed. They administered an injection to calm his breathing and sent us home with steroids. However, by 4:00 AM on May 8th, his breathing was still strained, so we returned. He received another injection and a prescription for Albuterol. Unfortunately, the pharmacy process became a nightmare. A local CVS could not fill the script due to technical errors in the way it was written. I then placed an order through Chewy.com on the morning of May 8th. By May 10th, Chewy confirmed they were still waiting for the clinic's approval. When I called the clinic to follow up, I had the misfortune of speaking with Naomi. I explained that my dog had been struggling to breathe for two days and asked why the approval was being delayed. She was incredibly rude and insensitive. When I expressed my desperation to get my dog his medication, she told me that if he couldn't breathe, I should simply "take him to a different clinic." When I told her I was going to bring him back to AEC, she said they were no longer accepting patients today. When I asked to speak to someone else besides her, she placed me on hold for 25 minutes. When I tried to call back three times from my own phone, the calls were sent immediately to hold. Suspecting I was being screened, I called from a friend's phone, Naomi answered immediately. When I asked why I was being sent straight to hold, she stated she would leave me there until she had "new information." I was so shocked with her condescending tone. I even asked if she was hearing the way she was speaking to me, she replied, "Yes, I am," and put me back on hold. After being left back on hold for several minutes, I hung up and called back. Bella answered the phone. She was the complete opposite of Naomi. Bella went out of her way to help me. I told her I no longer wanted to wait for the approval for Chewy to fill the order and was going to see if I could fill the prescription at Walmart. Bella called around to different Walmart locations to confirm they had the Albuterol in stock. Thanks to Bella, I finally have the medication. While I appreciate the medical diagnosis and Bella's help, Naomi's lack of compassion was unacceptable. No pet owner in distress should be treated with such hostility, especially when the delay involves watching their beloved pet suffering. If you bring your pet here, please be cautious of Naomi's involvement in your care. I have seen other reviews talk about an emergency vet in Redlands. I was not aware there was one. I can't imagine returning to this clinic now after the treatment I received from Naomi.

It has been a very difficult time for my cat Bastu…read more However, I have found the facility to be very nice, and Bastu received prompt assistance for her problems! First, she was hospitalized for 24 hours. While there are still some things that I am trying to understand, the IV support made a big difference in her health. My understanding is that this is very important for cats with pancreatis. After going some time without eating, I could tell that she felt better after each treatment with fluids. I have not yet had a follow-up visit with my local vet to check Bastu's PrecisionPSL values. However, from two follow-up visits to CAEC, I can say that Bastu's SDMA values have returned to normal (after she was prescribed felimazole, and successful delivery of that medication for 3 days lead to more severe problems). The spike in BUN values from 21 (before felimazole) to 72 (after felimazole, and then decreased diet to the point of not eating any food) was reversed to 13 after treatment at CAEC (a little below normal, instead of very high above normal). While I am looking into more details (such as waiting to see if my Bastu is capable of returning to normal health) before following the procedures on the FDA website (https://www.fda.gov/animal-veterinary/report-problem/how-report-animal-drug-and-device-side-effects-and-product-problems), my understanding is that my cat has a pre-existing kidney problem. The elevated T4 levels (used to define a diagnosis for hyperthydroidism) represented the body's defense for those kidney problems - high T4 can cause problems in itself, but the underlying kidney problems can also cause additional problems. Thank you very much - while improvement has been slow, Bastu and I certainly appreciate the help within the last week!

The nurses, technicians, and other veterinarians we interacted with were kind, caring, and professional. They treated both my cat and my family with empathy, and I am grateful for that. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Howard was extremely disappointing. I found her to be rude, impatient, and dismissive. Every question felt like an inconvenience, and instead of feeling supported, I felt rushed and judged during an already heartbreaking situation. I understand that veterinarians have demanding jobs and see difficult cases every day. But for pet owners, these are not just cases, they are family members. A little kindness and empathy can make a huge difference when someone is facing the possible loss of a beloved pet. Afterward, we sought a second opinion from another veterinarian. After reviewing my cat's case, that veterinarian raised concerns about some of Dr. Howard's medical decisions and approach to treatment. Hearing that only reinforced the doubts I already had about the care we received. I would not recommend Dr. Howard to pet owners who are looking for a veterinarian who communicates with empathy and patience.
