    Grand ballroom venue space

    Visiting the hotel for an event in their grand ballroom. Reception lobby was spotless and well organized with welcoming service. Staff were so courteous and kind. From the main entrance keep right and head straight down the hallway. There will be a double doorway with a few arcade games leading to the arcade room to the left and patio space to the right. The ballroom will be just ahead to the right. Nice large stage and space for events or special occasions. Sound system and large screens. Designated parking structure.

    Eye infection

    Avoid this Marriott. I recently stayed at Marriott Riverside 2 nights, for a work trip. After a long flight, I got into my room and just wanted to shower and sleep. The only room available when I made the res had 2 beds, so I went to the first one and the pillows and sheets had short black hairs all over them! The sheets and pillowcases were crinkled but fluffed up like someone just arranged a dirty bed. I went to the second bed, exhausted and assumed it was clean. Huge mistake. The morning after the second night, I checked out and flew home. My eye was bothering me so much on the flight and I couldn't figure out why. I arrived home, went to sleep, and woke up with a full-blown eye infection. I emailed Marriott and they said they would get back to me in 5 business days. That was more than 3 weeks ago. I've emailed again to check on what they're going to do. No response.

    I loved it! I am a faithful Marriott customer and genuinely enjoy staying at any of their brand(s) of hotels. The Marriott Riverside at the Convention Center is located in downtown Riverside with walking access to restaurants, a weekend farmers market and shopping. When I am there on business, by wife loves to walk around the historic area while I'm out. The hotel is clean and the rooms comfortable, with a coffee maker, refrigerator an big screen television. As a Bonvoy member, we have access to the concierge lounge. I love to start my day with their great breakfast buffet. The view of the surrounding mountains is beautiful, especially from the deck while enjoying my breakfast. There is also a Bistro that I enjoy in the evenings when I want to stay in. They have a good variety of food like flat bread, chicken wings and a great charcuterie platter. Throw in a beer, cocktail or glass of wine and what else could you ask for? They have a convenient parking garage adjacent to the hotel and friendly staff. I am never disappointment with my stays at Marriott. The pampering does a soul good!

    Very friendly staff but issues with the restaurant/room service. Our food was delayed for over an hour due to their error and when we finally did get our food they over charged us. I ordered the continental which includes a juice and hot beverage. I was charged extra for each. I called the desk they transferred me to the person in charge of the food service and she assured me that I would be credited for that meal entirely. As of now I did not receive a credit. That is my gripe. The rooms were clean and comfortable and we had a nice view of the mountains from the 8th floor. My mistake: to save time, with a tired kid in tow, I went on the hotel website in the parking lot and booked the room. I rushed and didn't realize there was a service fee of $17.99. There is no free breakfast or free wifi unless you sign up for the Marriott rewards.

    I stayed here for a company event in Sacramento. The lady at the front desk was rude and dismissive. I requested two queen beds and she said that I was in a king room and didn't offer any possible solutions. She assigned me to room 225. The moment that I entered I got the strong sent of urine. I immediately called the front desk and complained. The man that answered was polite and kind enough to switch me to another room. He took the time to meet me at the new room with new keys. The decor was very outdated and nothing seemed throughly cleaned. There was a lining of dust on the lamp shades and an old phone from the 1980's. Marriott, you can do better than this. On top of everything breakfast was not complimentary and the deposit was crazy expensive, $250 For one night, plus a $10 parking fee. I do not recommend staying here.

    Fabulous staff, beautiful lobby, solid outdoor pool with hot tub, nice restaurant, and the COZIEST bed and duvet I've found- and I stay at a lot of Marriotts as I travel weekly for work. The shower rocked as well- very large and powerful. The room was clean, bright, with updated furniture/art, and a most gorgeous view. Only bummer was- no on-sight laundry- so I had to make a laundramat run midway through the week. The front desk said they offer dry cleaning services, but I just need a regular washer/dryer for my work clothes, so I had to leave the premises to find that, but the front desk lady kindly gave me directions to find it.

The area is really beautiful, with lots of gorgeous historical buildings. I arrived a early, and was able to find a handicap parking spot right on the corner near the theater. Parking can be a challenge , but there are some lots in the area to provide extra parking. I ran into some people that I had met at previous concerts, and we chatted while we waited for the doors to open. The entrance and the box office are up a flight of stairs, so the ADA entrance is an elevator to the left side near the stairs. We waited here, and they escorted us up to the checkin area just before the general crowd was admitted. The theater is beautiful, with seating on the main floor at the back and in the balcony. We were in the ADA section on the right side. It's not raised, so you do have a little bit of a blocked view of the stage. Sound and lighting were great, which is good because some older venues have issues with the sound especially. I really the Nothing More show, and the openers were good too, which is a bonus. There is one small concessions on the concert level. Everything else is downstairs on the ground floor. Restrooms, larger bar, and merch for concerts are all here. ADA access is from that same entrance elevator on the left side, and there's a hidden women's restroom near the elevator. I will definitely be back, when there's an important show that's worth the trip to Riverside.

The space is large, but one thing that stands out is how dusty the theater seating is. It's visibly noticeable, even in the dark. The building is pretty on the outside, and it's not bad inside. They don't have their own parking area so you have to park at one of the many different businesses nearby, or the parking garage behind the Mission Inn.

I first booked this venue for my organization in October, paying for the deposit to secure my date. The event was to be held late May. The first red flag was that there was NO proper contract given to us despite us requesting for one. Naomi, the manager in charge, told my team that she would provide one but never did. I paid for the deposit, $2,500, the only thing defined as non-refundable, despite the fact there was no contract because she emphasized our date will be taken if we are not quick. We paid and chose to have faith that she will provide one shortly. Several months later, when it was time to complete payment, we were informed for the first time that outside catering was no longer allowed and that we would be required to use the venue's catering services. This added over $3,000+ in unexpected costs that had not been communicated earlier in the planning process. At that point, we were also told full payment had to be made immediately or we lose the venue. Because it was too late to realistically find another location, we were pressured to hurry and proceeded to pay a total of nearly $7,000 that day. To make matters worst, abruptly, a week later our event had to be canceled. I called her, asking if there was any chance I could get a partial refund. She told me it wouldn't be possible, I will be getting nothing back. I reminded her that there was no contract or policies in this regard. She then began bringing up her "legal team." I asked if I could atleast talk to them or see any written evidence. She laughed and told me that it costs over $500 just to speak to them, so no I wouldn't be allowed to talk to them. She told me I would need to get a legal team if I want to take this further, in which I do not hold these luxuries. I thought I could maybe get refunded for atleast the food because the event didn't happen. I texted her if this was posssible, if there's any further information I could provide, and if I could get a proper receipt of all my payments because that was never given either. All I got in response to this was to "email her our texts in regards to the cancellations." I had to text her several times to see if there was any updates after I emailed her. She finally responds and tells me to wait till the end of the week and I will get a response. She did not send me a response. I waited until the following Monday to ask again and she requests to call me. As I enter the call, I hear her laughing to her co-workers and when she sees I've picked up she tells me "Yeah no, we will not be giving you a refund." She then proceeds to remind me that it should've been earlier and that because of us she missed out on a $20,000 opportunity with a hospital and several other opportunities that could've been utilized over us and that's why she can't give us a refund. Because she missed out on more money opportunities. I end the call because I understood I was never going to get anything back. I simply asked for my receipt once more which her co-worker sends the next day. Funnily enough, there's a discloser at the bottom of the receipt talking about their policy on how "all bookings are final and we maintain a strict no-cancellation policy." Yet she couldn't send me this before? They most likely added it after this whole ordeal. We regretfully lost almost $10,000 in the process of working with her. I understand that there are rules and policies. However, I would've been a lot more understanding if this venue at least had a heart and act understanding towards our situation when talking to me. Without a single apology, without any empathy, throughout this whole process I was constantly belittled and reminded that she could've earned more if it weren't for us. If you want a place that will actually care about you and see you as more than just a paycheck, please consider other options as there are plenty of other lovely venues around Riverside.
