I injured my hip in a hard fall on a snow and ice-packed trail in Dec 2021. I went through the standard diagnostic and treatment routine of x-rays, MRI, a steroid injection into my hip and regular PT with a great therapist at a hospital-owned PT facility. That PT was what you usually expect - minimal soft tissue manipulation (usually with some weird spoontype thing; not even with the therapist's hands!), ultrasound, lots of physical exercising on bikes and strength training with weights and machines. Although my therapist was great, the PT didn't help. I found Lighthouse PT and scheduled an intake. One session with Bonnie and my hip felt better - I couldn't believe it. Lighthouse PT's approach to treatment is completely different from traditional PT, and honestly, I was skeptical at first. Bonnie's treatment regime consists of light touch, very slow soft tissue manipulation (almost like Bowen work) and no machines! She explained that we had to get my inflamed muscles and tissues to calm down and work together in my hip joint as a unit. She said that until everything got calmed down, released and working together, that the standard "exercise and strength train the heck out of it" PT I had been doing before was only making it worse. When I leave a session with Bonnie, I'm able to walk normally and my pain is almost gone. I'm so used to the traditional, hardcore PT with machines and weights approach that it doesn't seem possible that Bonnie's gentle approach could really make that much of a difference, but it does! I'm so grateful that my insurance covers this and that I found Bonnie at Lighthouse PT. I can assure you that you will notice a difference in pain and functionality after just one session at Lighthouse PT, and that their treatment practices are nothing like what you've experienced before with traditional PT. I wish I had found Lighthouse PT (and Bonnie) months ago!

They also have a lot of different equipment and it never feels too crowded there. They have a sports PT focus here but they also see other injuries and patients who are not also. After multiple visits I wasn't getting much better so I decided to stop and try another avenue for my pain. I can see a need for physical therapy in many situations so this is not the reason for the 1 star - it is their billing practices that I have come to detest. After stopping in April I continue to receive bills from them for every month through July for the same 5 appointments. The amount kept increasing for these same visits - they claimed it was due to my insurance but when I called my insurance they said they had made my plan clear as to what they owe and what I would owe to the clinic. The back and forth is irritating and I am not saying my insurance is blameless but the responses I receive from the clinic are nonresponsive and without much of an explanation - they simply don't know what's going on. I can understand one bill that would need to resolve differences between insurance and patient payments but to continue every month for the same 5 visits several months in the past is simply incompetence. Overall I would go back for the therapy itself but because of their billing practices I would never go back again.

Tom my PT person is very knowledgeable and one of the best PT persons I've had, in-fact everyone from the front desk staff through all PT's are skilled, professionals and make your PT needs enjoyable. In three weeks I was walking, bending, and doing well. Within 8 weeks I was skiing, and enjoying sports I had missed due to my knee.

While he was working at Reform Physical Therapy as a therapist and manager I'm happy to see he is opening his own business now in Kennebunk. A massage friend and DPT professor had recommended him to me after experiencing ankle sprain issues. He wasn't available at the time since was the most frequently requested therapist there. I ended up going to Saco PT in Wells and while I did get some decent work, they do have frequent turnover of therapists and seem to be double booked many times. After a January '25 hip replacement I was successful getting all 14 appts. with Bobby for recovery PT. What I liked: - Dedicated 1:1 apts on time.....no double booked sessions with another client. This means he's attentive to your form while you're doing exercises as opposed to previous experience I've had with other therapists who are working with another patient while you do your exercises or trying to catch up on the previous patient's paperwork. - Provided manual therapy to assist in the muscle recovery needed as a result of the operation. Not just exercises - Listens well and adjusts exercises to adapt to capability level - Bobby's upbeat positive attitude - Is very knowledgeable about the surgery, and all the modalities beneficial to the recovery process - Provides varied exercises while in-house as well as a manageable assortment of exercises for home use. - Is easy to reach for questions. I will be having my 2nd hip replacement in May this year and have already pre-booked recovery sessions with Bobby at KPT. Unfortunately with his new practice, PT referrals from docs will need to be submitted by clients themselves to be reimbursed as his practice doesn't accept insurance. To be honest, I don't blame him, as dealing with insurance companies would probably require another hire to process. On the positive side, his appointments will be for a full hour where Bobby can work on other body areas that have issues, not just the issues identified on the referral. In addition, he does offer a 10-visit bundle package that will reduce the cost a bit. I've decided to book with Bobby despite this insurance hassle I'll have for reimbursement due to his exceptional expertise and attentiveness. He's earned all the acronyms listed after his name. I look forward to working with Bobby again as my personal coach to recovery in May.

But my shoulder injury was 10 years in the making. When we are given guidance to relax those shoulders down and away from our ears AND WE DON'T LISTEN, then you stand where I am now. Nine months out and still with pain and impingement. But thanks to Melissa's encouragement, patience, and strategies of hope, I'm slowly building strength, teaching my body how to relax. Dry needling is a wonderful path to relieving tension, and added bonus, reducing facial puffiness. When we don't listen to our bodies, they will force us to listen, especially if we are on a journey toward healing and trying to listen to what our bodies need. I'm so glad I followed my gut and signed up for sessions with Melissa and I'm so glad she is trained in the Mackenzie style of Physical Therapy. It should be required training for all physical therapists. Learning exercises I had been doing were actually causes my shoulder to come out of alignment, when that was my problem, was a hug eye opener. And adding Pilates exercises to grow foundational strength and learn patience through purposeful movement is essential for chronic muscle tension and as an effect, poor joint mobility and strength. Kicked out of a…read morehospital in Georgia with no choice but to move back to NH with the hope that someone could help me. Jessica came out with kindness, and hope in her soul. My husband and I fell in love with her "anything is possible, as long as you are willing to work for it" attitude. I began treatment with almost no movement in any part of my body due to the severity of my spinal cord injury. Ashley (PT) came in the room and lit it up. Not only was every single session fun, she made me want to work to impress her, simply because she believed in me, I wanted to show her that belief wasn't for nothing. Jessica (OT) came in willing to help with anything to make my transition easier, whether that be holding my daughter so I could sit up, or telling me it was okay if I hadn't reached a goal. I was switched to Deanna (OT) and Ruthann (PT) after about a month. These lovely ladies wiggled their way not only into my heart, but our family. Deanna immediately came in, with a smile not only on her face, but in her heart. Even if I couldn't do something, she would remind me of all the things that I had already accomplished, and helped me remember that everyone put the odds against me, and I was lucky to even be alive. Every single Tuesday and Thursday, there was excitement all over the house. My mom was excited to see her daughter proud of herself for being able to complete a new goal. My husband was excited to see his wife becoming herself again. My dad was excited to see his little girl move a new extremity. My daughter was excited to see the people that always acknowledged her and made her feel included. Most of all, me, excited to have these lovely women teach me how to find strength in such a horrible situation. Ruthann's place was taken back over by Ashley, but I will always cherish the time, and patience she had. Her honesty, and respect for me will not soon be forgotten. I'm so thankful she felt I was worthy enough to spend her time on. That's the thing about Cornerstone VNA PT and OT, they make you forget that they are there to do a job. They make you feel like not a thing is more important than every single session. They become family, and help you feel normal in such an abnormal state. I will hold these women in my heart forever, not just because of the incredible progress they helped me achieve, but because in my time of wanting to give up, they were there at any hour to tell me how impressed they were that a quadriplegic could become someone with paraparesis. I started not being able to move my fingers, arms, legs, and toes. I fully believe that without these incredible ladies, I may have never recovered.
