It's very small, but utterly brimming with stock. It makes me feel like I'm in someone's attic, it's very personal. The collection ranges from old 1920s pocket mirrors to beautifully binded books, with nouveau inspired flowers running up the spine. The woman stationed behind the desk is absolutely lovely, and although it is an intimate setting she leaves you free to browse without badgering you to buy. The brooch collections are surprisingly cheap and she has a box full of antique postcards. There's something melancholy about rooting through a box full of heartfelt scribblings from another time, but it is nevertheless interesting. For film makers and art projects at least the donated, personalised cards and monochrome photographs would come to a good use. A Pandora's box of yesterday's treasure that you would willingly open if you're into well preserved, pretty bygones.

(If you followed this reference, high five yourself. Sure it will just look like an enthusiastic clap, but you'll know better). I quite like Galerie Mirages, it's an interesting little shop to pop into every now and again to see what new finds they've uncovered. Most of the wares are lost on me, not being a gal who wears a lot of jewellery or understands what a singing bowl is, but there are always some interesting sculptures, and as Jenny noted, some stunning furniture for those who have pockets deep enough to purchase them. But it's an interesting place to browse through if you're looking for a gift and though most of the stuff is rather pricey, there's a good section of lower priced items that make great trinkets or house warming pressies. The service is... quiet? I've never had a staff member approach me or ask if I need help, but when I've approached them, they've been quiet pleasant. Overall, it's well worth poking your head in the door but the price point keeps it from being a regular staple on my Stockbridge list.

I could have spent a couple hours oohing and ahhing over all the beautiful pieces contained in this shop. It's probably fortunate for my wallet that I had limited time. I do love the scarf and earrings that I bought. There is a wide variety of items at a large range of prices. Jewelry, home decor, knick knacks. Much of it feels like they are one of a kind sort of items. I believe the lady that helped us was the owner. She showed us where to find the bargain items and was very upfront about why they were on sale. She also took some time - even though we were keeping her past closing time - to answer our questions and to tell us about her travels - you can really tell that she is living her dream. Quite inspiring! Makes me want to follow in the footsteps of her travels and perhaps follow in her footsteps and find a way to make the passion for travel also my job.

One of my friends got The Sands of Time necklace and ring set for her 21st birthday and for my Christmas a few years ago she bought me the super cute Secret Hearts necklace and seeing as I love all things with hearts on them it's one of my favourite pieces of jewellery. Sheila Fleet jewellery is perfect if you want to give someone a Scottish souvenir and the pieces are classic and aren't naff like some other more unimaginative souvenirs. The inspiration for all the collections come from Orkney and Sheila works with silver, and 18ct gold and many of the pieces have enamel too. Some pieces have a really obvious Scottish connection while others are a bit more subtle. Something a little bit different and great for all ages too.

This clearly isn't a collection of mass manufactured, churned out jewellery, the pieces here are pretty unique and have a distinct style that isn't like anything on the high street. The celtic influences in a lot of the jewellery are clear, with designs related to the ocean featuring significantly, with a lot of blue coloured tones running through the jewels. There is both classic and contemporary to choose from here, and as a personal favourite, the beautiful gemstone rings are welcome to adorn my hands any day.

Goodwins sell a mixture of both antique and new jewellery and so there is bound to be something in here to suit everyone's taste. They sell a vast range of beautiful contemporary jewellery, which is really expensive, but absolutely gorgeous. I came in here last year to look for a birthday present for myself and felt completely overwhelmed by all the huge selection of gifts available. I bought the most amazing silver bracelet, which was expensive, but so worth as it is of excellent quality and I wear it all the time. The staff in this store are always incredibly friendly and highly professional and are able to answer all of your questions. A truly wonderful jewellery store with gorgeous stock- can't wait till the day that I can afford their more expensive gifts!

Every time I see the name it makes my blood boil, filling me with contempt and hatred and misanthropy. When I think of former Blackpool and Crewe midfielder Phil Clarkson, I just have to stop everything and count to ten... (that's classic comedy misdirection). However, enough of that. This place was here long before whichever Clarkson I'm talking about. I, like Stephanie T., expected this place to be old fashioned. I'm not a jewellery expert, but I was definitely wrong with my preconceptions. The stuff seems thoroughly modern, and there was some eye-catching pieces. It's also nice, as I've said before, to support an independent business. The people who run this place have been here long enough to know what's what, and you know you'll be getting a more personal service than if you went to one of the high street chains. Just try not to think of Jeremy (or Phil).

In addition to this, you can also order commission pieces so can make your very own engagement/wedding ring whether it's resetting and old stone into something more modern or starting completely from scratch. I popped in here with my mum last year when it was my 21st, I was looking for a special piece of jewellery and was visiting pretty much every single jewellers in the whole of Scotland to ensure I got the right piece. I didn't have a ridiculously high budget but wanted to find something special. What struck me about the jewellery in here is the simplistic style of everything, no fuss, no bling just clean cut lines with simple stones. The strength of the jewellery here is because it is so simple, it's wearable, classic and certainly won't date. Their engagement and wedding rings are gorgeous and it's good to know that you won't find them anywhere else. The style and layout of the shop reflects the jewellery as it is very organised, clutter free and easy to browse. I ended up finding a beautiful locket in another jewellers but I did like Annie Smith and who knows maybe one day someone will want to buy me a rock... I may be back.
