I played the Country Club of Halifax with a friend this weekend. Overall, the course was in fine…read moreshape. However: Pace of play was terribly SLOW. One the 10 hole, the group in front of ADDED PLAYERS and split into two groups. The much slower playing four wives in front of the foursome of men. No rangers on the course. Zero oversight. Beer cart is CASH ONLY. Evidently, the owner is a clueless guy that inherited the golf course. He separated the restaurant from the club as running a restaurant proved too difficult for him. Neither my friend or I were carrying cash. No cold beverages for us. Again, the course is terrific. But the management, or lack of, is really killing the place. The owner should sell to someone that knows how to run a course. Too many second generation business owners are spoiled kids that don't have a work ethic. This seems like one of those places.

First off, one must stand in line to order. While standing in line since there was no.menj board i looked up the menu online. I get my heart set on something only to find out they are running a limited menu. Of course my chose item isnt available! There's a line behind me and I must pivot. Then I was asked where are you sitting. All tables have numbers. The guy gives me a number. I have to wait for drinks before sitting down. Meanwhile people who ordered online are now at my table. This was frustrating to not only me but the employees who now have to change my location on a busy day. There was one food runner. 2 working the bar and I am unsure how many back in the food area but it just wasn't enough! The food was fine. No complaints over the cedar salad, the super breaded mozzarella sticks and the pretzel bites. But I will say... the cheese pictured with the pretzel bites was orange and I got quest Blanco. I know the words Yacht Club can conjure up something very exclusive and snooty, however those words…read moredon't describe this very down to earth and well-run place. If you have a boat, you have to keep it somewhere and we have belonged to a few of the local marinas since moving to the South Shore. While many may be fancier than this, Metropolitan Yacht Club, hands down has been the friendliest marina we've belonged to. Although we only joined this year, we have already met a host of lovely boaters of all kinds. The club hosts several dinners and events throughout the season in the large clubhouse where the function room can also be rented for your own private party. The facilities are comfortable and come equiped with everything you might need,showers, bathrooms, washer/dryer. The dock spaces are great and there are moorings as well. People have gone out of their way to welcome us and we've enjoyed hanging out at the dock just as much as actually taking the boat out for a ride. We look forward to continued great seasons of boating and having fun at this club.
