I took my first ride off the Mountain on Friday, September 19, 2025. I told the driver that I was going to Hollywood to see The Who. He told me that he had just seen Chicago there last week. I see the last review was from seven years so I thought an update was appropriate. Only once in many rides have I ever had a rude bus driver. She didn't last long. MARTA is a lifesaver for any time you don't have a car, the weather is not particularly safe (they handle snow and ice like experts unless the roads are closed), or there's an event where you just don't want to hassle with parking. They recently (okay maybe a year ago) changed to 7-days a week service. Fares are low and if you are over 60, it's the best deal ever at half-price (50 cents per zone at the bus stop or $2 per zone for dial-a-ride doorstep pickup and dropoff). Dial-A-Ride requires an appointment which can get busy during the week but Sundays are almost always wide open. MARTA is an invaluable asset to many in our mountain community and I can't understand why more people don't utilize it, hopefully not from a negative review from a one-time experience. Well you can tell where this mountain and the good old of state of cali is going. I have heard so many bad things about this place, but I have also seen the worst thing ever. The driver let a elderly lady who had a walker get on the bus and waited then asked for her to pay a fair. The lady was like I do not have money and she said she was told to the senior citizens place that she moved into had told her that they get on for free. The driver said not in this day and age, so you will have to get off. I was so furious I said are you kidding me. I asked if I can pay for her and he said no she has to pay, so he closed the door and took off, when I looked at the lady she was upset. so when I got to my stop and I got off I asked if I could have your name and he said nope and closed the door and took off. So when I called the office in Crestline, Alan said there is nothing he could do. So if your looking for a crappy, pricey transit then you have looked for the right place.
