Hire a property lawyer before you go anywhere near this agency. Their agents (which include the owner's daughter) will lie about material aspects of the property; as soon as they have received your money (and their fees) they will ignore their contractual obligations. They are grossly irresponsible when it comes to the safety of their properties. -My flat failed Gas Inspections because of a missing part. -An electrician doing work on the property for the landlord/agent informed me that every light-bulb and socket in a large 2-bedroom flat was dangerously wired through a single, overloaded circuit-breaker. Martin & Wright rented the property after me without repairing the issue despite being aware of it. Most seriously, they are dishonest to the point of criminality when handling deposits. -They will refuse to return the money for months beyond the statutory period. -They will ignore repeated written requests to identify which Deposit Protection Scheme they are a part of; or provide proof that deposit money was kept in a separate account. These are both legal requirements. -They will deduct money for imaginary expenses and provide no proof. In my flat with unsafe electrics, they nevertheless deducted over 100 GBP for lightbulbs. They charged for additional cleaning when they initially provided the flat to me while it was still a building site. They will ignore your legal rights: -Jay Hayden told me on multiple occasions he would enter my rental property without my permission solely for the purposes of viewings several months before the end of my tenancy. His harassment was incessant even after he was made aware of when the property was available. He was hostile when I asserted my rights. Mr. Hayden will tell you often he has done this job for a very long time. Yet he shows no familiarity or respect with relevant tenancy law. Again, if you find a flat you love and Martin & Wright represent: Hire a property lawyer and let the lawyer deal with these charlatans. It will still save you money. read more

Be vary careful when dealing with this company. I was met with this guy called Mark... very easy and tries to be this easy going person... once you sign the contract, that's it.. he becomes his real self... following were my issues: - We requested for no TV.. he agreed and did not do it - We agreed the flat will be cleaned, it never was - his response - we have rcpts to prove it.. how does it matter if u paid but th job was not done ya? - the beds had to be moved, never got done. - the contractor actually left paints and tools in the kitchen cabinets. - he actually raised his voice when i tried to raise these issues... Over all, i like the apartment coz it is nice.. but i wish i had used a diff agent to rent this place... Never go to this agency! read more

Do NOT work with these people! They are unprofessional at best, scam artists at worst. They recommend (aka require) expensive move-out cleaners which you must use if you want your security deposit back. Took us 2 months and multiple emails, which they ignored continuously, to get our rightful return back. We only got it back when we told them that we were involving a third party. Was it their fault the tenant refused to leave the flat we rented through them? Not at all. What was their fault was the fact it took days to get back our deposit because they could not get a hold of the person to authorize it. Not to mention that they said they knew for a fact the tenant would be out on a certain date, only to not return on our calls on that date. Unfortunately we trusted them and waited for the aparment to clear up in a hotel. By the time we relized that this situation had no end in site we ran into the issue with the deposit, adding another 4 days onto our unplanned hotel stay. They also do not have not Complaint Handling Procedure documents, these forms apparently are required by most reputable firms so as to outline the proper course of actions when problems like these arise. DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY. They were very helpful getting us into the flat but we had issue after issue which took months to resolve. When we moved out they refused to give back our deposits, claiming outrageous costs for wear and tear - which were already there upon move in and even comments on the inventory were disregarded as 'separate issues'. If you do go with this agency take pictures of everything and proof of date for these photos!! On move in and move out. I have used several agencies since renting and they are by far the most disgraceful I have come across. read more

Interestingly 2 years on and it's a similar story. Very easy going to start with but incredibly abrupt and rude. Made the decision to lose the holding deposit of £740 (which is a lot of money) in order to not use this company - it's a big decision but gut instinct along with their attitude before we've even signed made it the right decision. They made it feel like they were doing us a favour adn when we said we no longer wished to proceed we got a very blunt email saying we would notreceive the holding deposit back (pointing out the obvious) and tehy were not interested as to why - I'd have told them if they'd asked...it's straight forward, they're rude, not personable, they move the goal posts and they don't give a shit about customer service. We were even told we'd have to pay higher rent because next year is a leap year - now that does take the pi$$. read more
