this is the place where i learned ashtanga yoga! how…read moregrateful am i to have started here! Farzad, the owner is a great teacher that connects strongly to the tradition of ashtanga yoga. in yoga Mitte you have mysore classes in the morning and afternoon, and also LED classes or classes for ashtanga beginners to choose from, occasionally there are class like yoga for the back or other things, the schedule is at the reception and if you don't want to go in or the door is closed crap one from outside! the mysore classes in the morning are mainly small and Farzad has a very good eye for assisting you! he is one of the yoga teachers that has a strong hand and leads you towards a point you really want to get to. he regularly goes to workshops with great other teachers( lilo mile) and keeps himself up to date. his other teachers are great also, they are all specialists in their kind of yoga, claudia for example worked in montreal with joanne and darby. when we still lived in Germany we were at yoga Mitte a lot, also for social events, like movie nights or just anniversaries, its nice to get together with the people you practice with , as in ashtanga yoga there is not much talking , if any in class! you can take a shower after class and rent a towel for 2 euro so no need to drag stuff around, matts are also available. Farzads wife offers also massage in a beautiful room, but i never tried that! there are two yoga rooms with cork floor and a little reception, two dressing rooms with lockers and two bathrooms. there is a parking garage right across the street but i don't recommend coming with a car( although if you go for Mysore practice at 6am you don't have to pay the meters till 8am) there is a underground station literally 1 minute away, ( stadtmitte, or rotebuehlplatz) and its just so easy to walk there from the station. the place is in the center( like THE CENTER) of stuttgart and after yoga you can surly grab a coffee or something to eat close bye! i wish we would have an ashtanga place like this close to where i am, i would advance soooo quick!

Clean studio and wide variety of classes and times. As a yoga teacher myself, I did not really like…read morehow everyone was called out throughout class - it was always for doing something wrong never a "good job" or "great alignment." I almost left feeling worse about my yoga practice than when I came in! They did have a decent 3-day deal and the location was central, just next to the Cathedral.

Dude, this place sucks. First, the fact that it's *the only* place in Strasbourg offering…read moreAnglo-Saxon-style 7/7 day classes is bad enough, though that's in itself a positive. But the teaching and customer experience remains resolutely and depressingly French. The teaching is top-down, heavy-handed, and rigid: teachers stand at the top of the class and call out to people; they don't move around, they don't perform adjustments, they don't talk to people individually and one-on-one... Given the prices (very high), it is just not value for money. It feels like primary school: one teacher will comment on people aloud, as in "that's a little better than before but still not right" and "so and so isn't able to hold that pose and should use a blanket for support." It found this SO shocking that I suggested to her that people might want to be corrected one-on-one and she immediately became rude, aggressive, and defensive. It was thoroughly depressing to see how unresponsive she was to feedback, but also totally in line with the spirit of the place. Seriously, it's like a 1970s classroom - totally heavy-handed, one-directional teaching without any attempt to create a nice atmosphere or rapport with people in the room, nor adapt to their needs (or suggest they should adapt poses to their own needs, more importantly!!). Classes are also badly lacking in creativity. I've followed classes in multiple cities and studios, and these are just the basic poses over and over. It's just... barren as an experience. Think school gym class rather than a place for people to learn, grow, and flourish. The fact that they are so embedded in their style as to not see it is more depressing still. Just don't. Ambiance cours de gym de collège, profs pas pédagos pour un sou, pas approachable, pas chaleureux... et des cours à 30 personnes en plus pour maximiser les revenus. A fuir.
