I love the cheap tacos here on Taco Tuesdays! I always get an order of steak and al pastor tacos since you can't mix and match the 3 tacos in each order. The price went up a little 3 for $9, but it's definitely still on the more reasonable/affordable price compared to other places. I would come here at least once a month on Tuesdays for their tacos. Taste: 9/10 Easily one of the best big burritos I've ever had in my life. The steak was charred a bit in the style of El Patron, and the house made chorizo was perfect. Presentation: 5/10 It was wrapped "okay". It stayed together about 65% of the journey before the rear end succumbed to the sheer weight of the burrito. This was despite being cradled the entire time by my off hand. Value: 1/10 Yeah, this burrito WAS 17 and some change before Covid-19...and now it's completed a double metamorphosis. It went from a legit 3.5lb burrito, I could never finish, for $17+ to a 3lb burrito, I can finish, for $24+. Definitely there's hardly any value there at all... it's now double to triple what a burrito cost at most spots. At these prices I'll never return. read more

My favorite things from the restaurant are the tostadas and the burrito. The tostadas are so good. I love love all the fixings, even if it makes it hard to eat. Open your mouth wide and getting for a messy meal. The toasted tortilla is thicker than others and I am not sure if it's made fresh, but it's still very crispy and enjoyable. The burrito is enormous. Definitely enough to share or at least to have left overs. This past time, I had the beef taco and it was ok. The tortilla is really nice and had good texture/chew, but the beef was lacking a little flavor. I think I'll try a different type of taco next time. The Chile rellano was fun! It had nice simple/plain flavor and came in a tortilla with cheese. Their two sauces are great! Red has a kick but the spice doesn't linger and the green sauce is solid and complements most of the dishes well! If you're not interested in the restaurant, you can grab a beer, chips, and some candy bars! They also have some fresh items like lime, onions, tomatillos. It's a good place to check if you need a random ingredient for your meal or cocktail. They have a big bar, which was being renovated when we last stopped in (last week), and TVs. I stopped by Martinez a few weeks ago because I heard their burritos are enormous. I can now confirm. As for the place, it's a small little supermarket with some traditional items, and a counter at the back where you can order food to go. I heard that they were known for their chorizo, which I am a big fan of, so I wanted to try, but a huge burrito of chorizo sounded like a bit much to me, so I ended up getting a super steak burrito and a chorizo taco on the side. No, I didn't come close to finishing. The burrito was really good, but the chorizo did end up stealing the show. Well dang, I think I found my new favorite taco joint. Pros: Terrifically tasty! $2.50 tacos or 3/$6 on Tuesdays Flavor outranks all cons Cons: Ridiculous ordering system for dine in A little too gentrified Fluctuating prices Extra charge for every-damn-thing I'm dreaming about their Al Pastor, fo' sho'. The steak is great too, but they charge more for it depending on the "market price" of beef, which I think is a little nuts. Meat portions on tacos are decent, but overall just a "regular" size taco. Their burritos, however, are massive. And I MEAN massive. Their regular "baby" burrito is about the size of 1.5-2 normal burritos at my other go-to Mexican joints. And that's the BABY...there's a "Big Baby" that is literally bigger than my entire arm (For $30, yikes!) You place your order at the back kitchen, bring your ticket back up to the front counter of the store to pay, then go BACK to the kitchen to get your food. There are about 4 tiny tables you can eat as a dine in, but if you split your food with a friend, they're going to charge you $2 more per person. How they manage to do that when you've pre-paid, I have no idea. Maybe the tía or abuelita at the cash register might brandish a rolling pin at you until you pay up. I don't know, but this really puts a damper on my traditional "split and share" preference. Their hot sauces are good, but the red one will really give you a kick in the back of the throat if you get too eager, so taste with the tip of your tongue first to determine if you can tough it out! Martinez Supermarket serves some of the best authentic tacos in town and monstrous burritos the size of your arm. 3 lbs? They even offer up a 7 pounder. Are you kidding me?? I put in a large to go order of 20 tacos and 2 burritos for a Friday night gathering with family and friends, and the cook humorously asked if this was all for me and my two friends that I was with. Sorry, I'm not looking for a trip to the ER. Got the order home, and was pleasantly surprised at how much meat they put into each taco. I haven't had al pastor tacos with such flavor in a while! The homemade chorizo was also plenty tasty, and not all kinds of grease and spice like it can be at other places. Asada and pollo hold their own just as well, and I love that this is just onions and cilantro on top. No cheese or any other funny business. So if you're serious as a heart attack about getting a burrito, just know that my friends could only eat half at most. There should be a photo wall of people who accomplished the feat of finishing one of these monsters. My review is solely based off of the tacos and burritos. The quality meat is definitely grade a. I always get chunky pieces of steak unlike some places where it's soggy, greasy and fatty. Their red salsa is really hot but great the salsa verde is on the sweeter side. I ordered three big baby and had to wait til later to finish it. Love this place! I got a couple of steak tacos that were well seasoned and nicely cooked (not overcooked, which is the problem with a lot of carne asada!) The toppings added to it without overwhelming it. My friend got the chorizo burrito, and even though I am not the biggest fan of chorizo it was still really amazing. I'd be more than willing to eat a whole one myself! But be warned this place is literally just a supermarket with some tables. There aren't any really any amenities or services, although the people there are really warm and really helpful. I also bought a few meat things and took them home to cook. The quality was quite high considering the more than affordable price. If I lived closer I would be back more often, but I would be willing to take the trip out every now and then! read more

Let me tell you, the chorizo from Martinez market is on fire. One of the best or near best chorizo I've had. Grilled a chunk of mild and spicy. Know that even the mild is spicy as F.
