I came to visit one of my best girlfriends for the 1st time, and she said she knows a dope spot to get tacos. A woman after my heart. So we walked a couple blocks to Martinez. It wasn't really anyone there which wasn't an issue to me. But it had a few people. The place has the register up front. Bar to the front left at the entrance. Food and market items to the back. We placed our orders and it was simple and easy. Food came out fairly quickly. Everything tasted fresh and handmade! My favorite kind of Mexican cuisine! The corn tortillas definitely were pressed same day. I ordered 3 asada tacos and 1 chicken tamale. They had pork but it was sold by the bunch which was 6, and since it was my 1st time there I didn't want that many. The Asada taco was sooo juicy and they were not stingy with the meat. I wasn't disappointed with the flavors. The tamale was good but a little bit on the dryer side. However, I really liked the green chili inside with the chicken, and I could tell that was fresh too. I gave them a 5 start because the service was great neighborhood service that I appreciate. We ordered two guava margaritas with tajin rim and baayyybaayyy, FIRE! I would come back for that alone and the local conversation. Our bartender let us know the margaritas was the "Ms Martinez Remedy," because she made it from scratch. Guava juiced that day. It was so on par for the fact that I know the hand corn tortillas and tamales were too! We talked to Ms Martinez and she gave me a feeling of home cause she was the sweetest and most relaxed woman. She checked on us and made sure everything was to our liking. Definitely coming back for more before I leave town.

Had to come and try the big baby burrito. I have to say this is probably one of the best burritos I've ever had. I wish I lived in Chicago so I could have this every week. The steak was unmatched. I've never had better steak in my life. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely be stopping by for another burrito. Martinez also offers a Tuesday Taco special which includes three tacos of your choice for around $10.

This place is awesome. I usually get tacos or the burrito but I decided to get pozole on a Saturday. I got the half gallon ($16.99) with the garnish ($4.99). The employees are so attentive and ask if you've been helped. I took my pozole to go and the half gallon is well served. My only complaint is that the pozole was a little bland. It was missing a certain flavor. I don't know if it was oregano that was missing or a little chile. I wish I had bought some lime too because that would have helped. The garnish comes with toasted chiles de árbol, onion, cilantro, and cabbage. Next time I go I will try the carnitas, they only have them on Sundays.

This is the second time coming to this place to try their food. We had the burrito for the first time, it's heavily pack and the chicken is well marinated however the tortilla is a little bit too much for me. The second time we got the taco dinner. Love the chicken again but not a fan with the bean and rice. The menu is big will come back to try other dish. There is a parking lot. This place is very unique where you can shop and eat at the same time. Very friendly employee.

Do you think you could finish a 2 foot, 7 pound burrito?? We tried to finish it at Martinez Bar & Grill in Chicago, Illinois! This spot is known around the US for serving up massive and delicious burritos. Martinez Bar & Grill serves homemade guacamole and chips, tasty tacos, delicious salsas, sides, and more. If you are looking for a Taco Tuesday special in Chicago, Martinez Bar & Grill has a 3 for $10.99 special! There is a full bar inside of the restaurant offering up fun drinks too! While you are there, check out some of the products, drinks, produce, and snacks that are available for purchase. I was in there for a while looking at the packaged Hispanic snacks and foods! If I lived in Chicago, I would visit this spot very frequently. Make sure to check out Martinez Bar & Grill and see if you can finish the 2 foot burrito!

Skirt steak burrito, no sour cream. Awesome quality. It's probably the best burrito ever or at least one of the best.

Amazing food and service. Had the steak burrito again. Wonderful. Best burrito in Chicago. The only fault was in the service as no one came to check if everything was OK or not. Everything was fine, they just did not check.

Staff was so nice, super chill spot. Food was delicious and quick. I would come here to watch a game over some food, or pop in for a snack.

I REALLY wanted to give this place five stars but the service was all over the place and supper slow. I do love how it's a bar, restaurant and mini market all in one. They have multiple TVs on the same program and they all have delays. They really could leave the sound on for one TV. Now the food....One of the best and freshest burritos I've had...ever! Even the French Fries were good and fresh. It was 3 of us and we are off the Big Baby Burrito and still had left overs. The soft drinks and water are pricey.

Bar experience is a 10/10, such a helpful bartender. Being able to order food at the bar was so great. A supermarket combined with a restaurant/bar was so cool. I will definitely try again.

Tacos were good and the chips and guacamole was fresh. A little pricey but I would try it again

When they say a baby steak burrito they mean the size of an infant! It was massiveeeeeeee!!! I was throughly pleased! It can easily feed 2-3 people. My daughter and son LOVED it!!!! I have heard about this place and I have been wanting to try them out. I finally did yesterday!! They are on GrubHub, so I was excited! I ordered the Baby Steak Burrito everything with extra cheese and avocado, and an order of rice. My steak meat was succulent and delish. I asked for extras and they didn't cheat me on the extras. I was given lots of avocado and cheese. I had enough avocado to eat along side my rice. The rice had kidney beans in it. It was flavorful! It reminded me Puertorican style rice but instead of gandules it had red beans. Delish!!!!! My gargantuan burrito came with a hot red sauce that will choke you out.....that's how I like it and a milder green salsa! Everything was very good! Slay in the kitchen Martinez Supermarket!! I will order from you again very soon!!!!!!

Sometimes when I'm trying to find "international" ingredients at Mariano's or something it's hit or miss. I found what I needed here and it was a fairly quick trip--I don't think I was in store more than 20 minutes. The store is small, and very very crowded. Aisles are about as wide as a single person facing forward. This isn't a place where you're going to get a shopping cart down an aisle. The prices are good. I got a head of Napa cabbage for 99 cents per pound, and when I go to my neighborhood store it's usually closer to $3-4 or more per pound. Since it was such a steal I added hot and sour soup to my menu for the week. There's a parking lot at this store. It's one way, and you must enter from Archer. DO NOT enter the wrong way or you won't be able to park--the spaces are angled and there's not enough space between the building and the fencing to turn yourself around. There are only about ten parking spaces here so I'm sure it gets filled pretty quick, but when I was here I was the only car parked here. There's street parking which can be pretty chancy, but maybe I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who was here on a busy Sunday in Chinatown.

A line for grocery store fried chicken? Absolute cinema. People have been recommending I get into fried chicken reviews, and I've resisted as I really don't want to get fat, but this was the perfect storm to start a grocery store fried chicken review journey. I got to the front in the line and felt like a fish out of water. I sheepishly asked the employees, Darius R and Damariea J, what the move was as it was my first time getting fried chicken from here. I thought they'd be annoyed, but they were so helpful and welcoming. "Today is actually wing bucket Friday! A whole bucket is normally $17.99 but today it's $9.99. I can give you some of everything so you can try, but the spicy wings are my favorite." Hell yeah. Darius was the MAN. I took my tissi and wing bucket to the UIC campus for consumption. The tissi was a brick and landed at a 6/10, which currently ranks it 71st out of 94 grocery store birds I've tried, but the fried chicken was INSANE. As always, I am looking for new fantastic restaurants, and stores to try out, and share with: family, friends, and on Yelp. As you walk in it seems like a common corner store, groceries in the front, meat towards the rear. When I walked to the back I had a pretty good hunch this would be a great one. The fresh smell, it was very clean, and the amazing eye catching signage. You could feel like you just walked into in a sweet little store in Mexico. When they handed me the food I ordered I knew was on the right track. When I took my first bites I smiled, and knew, I needed to share this place. I was intrigued by the Pozole Verde sign out front. I had never had it before, so I placed my order for that and zero regrets. It comes out in a quart container with a plastic wrapped foam tray with: chopped onions, cilantro, radish, shredded cabbage, and mexican oregano. I added mostly everything but went easy on the oregano. The chunks of chicken were tender and not overcooked. The hominy and vegetables were just right as well. They have this to a science and it has to be near perfect. Now to the tacos: As you often see in neighborhood grocery stores the chorizo was hanging in back above the meat counter, so a house made chorizo taco was a given. The Al Pastor was reccomend by the one of the butchers, and I had a steak taco to round it, and myself, out. All I can say is that like the pozole everything was superb. Even the salsas.. I wish I knew of this place when I worked and lived in the area. I would definitely have known everyone there by name. I still smile thinking of it, and next time I'm in that hood, I will be there. I look forward to trying out a few more menu items, and picking up some of the fresh meat. So maybe don't slap Grandma... but you should at least pick her up and take her out to lunch here. Enjoy! #AlfieEats
