There is a good selection of quality birthday cards and cards for other occasions, together with wrapping paper and tags - and the really good thing is that these are often much cheaper than in proper card shops. The staff have been there for several years and are friendly. It is a popular shop in a really good location.

There's a Paperchase stationers on site and even it's own Starbucks on the lower levels. There's small pockets of seats spaced throughout the shop. They have import editions of magazines as well.

Obviously its excellent for grabbing the saturday paper and a bottle of lucozade from the chiller after a big night out. And it has racks and racks of mags to leaf through with greasy fingers. But the lotto machine is round the other side of the building, which you have to remember if you want a lotto ticket and a paper. Upstairs houses the books, CDs and DVDs. Usually it's much quiter too, so it can be worth taking the paper and drink upstairs and paying for it there. It's quite hard to think of things to say about WH Smiths

It also stocks childrens key stage work books and has a good collection of CDs and DVDs. There is also a good range of magazines and the statunary department offers a good selection. It is very well laid out, you are able to actually find what you are looking for without always asking for assistance. The store displays vast amounts of CD's, DVD's and Games, you will certainly find something suitable for everybody. The staff are great and will help you as soon as you need assistance, they are well trained and know their music and films and obviously love their job. The prices are fairly reasonable and you can certainly get an excellent bargain at sale time, especially on DVD's so you can buy early and tuck them away for Christmas. HMV also take returns without too much fuss providing they are unopened, they also sell gift cards which are great to pop in the post to friends and relatives.
