I was recently impressed with their pre-made sandwiches in an oval refrigerated case at the SR23 location. The pricing was very good. The sandwiches looked great. I bought one. The cost of their doughnuts is odd. Nobody charges $1.29 a doughnut at grocery stores, not even in Scottsdale, AZ. I will buy 1 or 2 doughnuts. Never would buy a dozen. That's $15.50 for a dozen doughnuts. Maybe they give a 50 cent discount for a dozen. An example of their pricing. $4 for 4 ozs of alfalfa sprouts. That's $16 a pound for a veggie. Their smoked whitefish is $19 a pound. (I buy it on clearance.) There is a meat market where it is $10. I keep coming back for the sale prices. Their cashiers are good. Fast and generally friendly.

Erik at the customer service area was very helpful and attentive. Since we are coming to South Bend so much we got the Martins advantage card. They have a great app also that gives you all the specials and advantages. Since I have retired , I have done most of the shopping and know the pricing of items we usually buy. Martins is low low low compared to the other stores. If you have never been to a Martins , give it a try. Oh yes, they have a robot that goes up and down the isles, scanning on quantity and directly sends the information to the office for re stocking( see pic ).

Now it's like a college cafeteria...basic and tired, with hardly any plant-based options. The salad bar has nothing but the basics. The cut fruit is shameful--all underripe (easier to sell, for some reason. Produce section as a whole is extremely underwhelming...Martin's has more options. The current lack of a seating area indoors is a big minus. This used to be a favorite meeting spot for me and school colleagues. Now you just take it home or scarf it down in the parking lot. Sad! It's hard to think of a reason to come here anymore, aside from maybe a few specialty organic items...and even here, Target carries more.

The discount bread are always just regular full size loaves that are about to go bad and thy cut them in half so it's no cheaper. The entire store is small dark and the workers just don't care to help much at all. Forget the days of someone asking if they can help you find something! The store has hot breakfast burritos and they have some that are vegan too. I enjoyed it they had Bernie Sanders at the entrance of the store as a cardboard cutout. It's a very small store for what it is but it does have a lot of essential items at very fair prices. Restrooms here are very clean too. They had a great grab-and-go selection as well. Plenty of healthy snacks and discounted items too. If you're an owner you get even better discount items. Parking can be a bit of a pain depending on when you show up.
