We tried working with Home Instead and the county detectives to prevent him from ever working with a senior again, but after nearly a year, it seems that nothing will be done to stop it. I have heard very good things about Home Instead, and there were some great care givers I interacted with, who I would highly recommend. However, stealing large amounts of money from a dying man is not OK. In the end there was video and other evidence, but nothing happened. This isn't about the money for me, but I don't want anyone to have this happen to them. Home Instead and the investigators should have blackballed this guy for life --- but now he could be taking care of your Mom or Dad. That's very, very wrong.

The room she showed me was remodeled. I sent over a list of required care items since my husband has Parkinson's disease and I wanted the nursing staff to have a heads up. I had asked if depends were supplied and she said yes. Upon arrival, no one greeted us or came out to help. He is hard for me to manage, but I got him in his wheelchair and took him up to his room myself. I then had to go back down and unload the car, using a cart that was in the lobby. His room was outdated and shabby. The dresser drawer was broken off the track. The shelving in the closet and bathroom were sticky. The floor was dirty and the room stunk. I went down to talk to the admin to relay this info. I had a flight booked for a family occasion and had to leave. The first time he needed to be changed, he said the nurse was not happy because he did not have his own depends. I had his daughter bring some, plus another pillow and better blanket, as well as some room spray. He was admitted on a Tuesday and by Sunday night had vomited several times, was running a fever, and couldn't breathe. He had no clean clothes left (I brought 11 changes of cloths, but he is totally incontinent. I was told laundry service was supplied, but that never happened until I complained) Thankfully, his daughter was there and she called me. I told them to call an ambulance ASAP. He is in the hospital with aspirational pneumonia. This place is totally negligent, and I feel that my husband was totally ignored. Upon talking to the floor nurse, she claimed she was not given the list of care needs. The admin acknowledged receipt of the list. I'm beating myself up over this decision but these people are deceptive. I would give 0 stars.

Since then the rent has increased by $700 and they are considering another increase. PA has no law against percent of rent increase so there is no recourse. Obviously she was able to afford it and still could swing it but the perks are not living up to expectation. The meals can be described as mildly edible. For the money one should be able to be served a meal that is not only good but that meets dietary requirements. This is not the case. I am not resentful nor am I out to give anyone a bad name. In this post-Covid world good help is hard to find. Like other establishments they are short- staffed. All around for the money it's just not worth it. To me it's almost like elder abuse. Not in the traditional sense but who, of those beyond a certain age, would want to move again? And there is no way to stop the increases or improve services. Just a litany of promises unkept. So if you are considering living here or having a parent etc. move in, please speak with people who already live there. Ask to sample a meal in the dining area. Do your homework so that you don't end up in a position of wanting out.

The Executives, receptionist, maintenance, and all the care takers are all amazing and truly care . The tenure shows the staff is treated well which results in a happy staff making residents happy. I can call any time with questions. Activities are so great with pets and visiting musicals. My mom loves singing and even with bad dementia she remembers all the words and loves singing and others live listening. Not one day has my family worried that my mom is not getting great care! It's her home away from home. The tenure of the staff was so impressive to me and the more I got to know each of them I now know why. They are a family. I am blown away by staff. Every person from the activity director, receptionist, technicians, executives , chef, and servers are so loving. Everyone knows my mom's name and her history. All of her friends that visit comment on what a wonderful place it is and how caring and loving the staff is. I would highly recommended it to others because t's very different from other places. I absolutely love it and I don't worry at all about the care she is receiving. If you are considering a move for your loved one, you have to visit. You feel the love when you walk in the front door.
