There's no denying it, both inside and out Maryhill Health Centre is pretty grim. A low one-storey concrete building that looks like it's been fortified against attacks from the natives, and inside it has the sterile feel of a hospital (which is not a décor choice I enjoy....)
The centre does, however, have plenty to offer. It houses not one, but four medical practices which accept new patients on a rotating basis. It also has a variety of other services on offer including the usual clinics around issues such as asthma and stopping smoking as well as a physiotherapist to which you can self-refer and an in-house pharmacy that makes collecting a prescriptions convenient.
Apart from the cold sweat I get when walking through the door of somewhere that reminds me so much of a hospital, I've mostly found my visits to the health centre to be OK experiences. The staff have been friendly and helpful and it's not been too difficult to get an appointment. The only downside has been that they seem to consistently run behind and you'll usually wait at least 10 minutes (usually more) past your appointment time before you are seen, even if you're there early in the day. read more
