Largo location: Two stars. Giving this two stars instead of one because the doctor is excellent and makes you feel heard once you finally see him. However, the wait times are unacceptable. I arrived at 11:52 am for my noon appointment and I am still sitting in the exam room at 2:00 PM waiting to see the doctor. At no time did anyone come into the exam room to apologize or explain Dr Takem has been held up by a difficult case. If this wasn't for an urgent medical issue, I would have walked out. Update: I decided to leave around 2:10 PM. I went to the front desk to reschedule for an early morning appointment so that I will be sure to be seen at a reasonable time. Today is June 7 and their next available is not until the end of July. I stated before this is an urgent health matter so I had no other choice but to turn around and come back to the exam room to wait. He is a good doctor, but it appears that they are scheduling patients on top of each other and it's unprofessional. read more

Wow, I was on hold waiting to schedule an appointment and the reviews popped up! I am shocked and sadden to see so many people rate this office so low. I have been coming to the Bowie Office Probably Over 10 years! I have to admit, there are times when I have had to hold for 10 minutes but I have never experience the rudeness or disrespect. What I have experienced is calling my doctor at the beginning of Covid19 because I was very sick. However because I did not have a high temp (my norm runs about 95, I was at 100 for me, it was high.) I was not considered a priority at the ER! I called my Dr. at MPC in Bowie, who told me to come to the back door, took my temp, took the nose swab and sent me back to the ER with a note! I was told, don't read-it, give it straight to check-in. I don't know what it said but I was finally tested and had Covid. I know, when I was a new patient and saw my Dr. I was given labs early afternoon which included blood work. My doctor, read my labs and left a message that I needed to come back to the office and she would wait for me. I got the message after 7pm but went by. I was pre-diabetic and she wanted me to have medication on the cruise. See she remembered a previous conversations about me trying new deserts when I cruise. I can call my Dr., send messages for my mom, dad or myself and get answers or appointments. BTW - she/they treat my parents and my husband. There have been changes with the staff but I have no doubt, it will be corrected. They take great care of us. read more

My relative had to have an emergency surgery. I went in personally to make the appointment. Diane and Tanya were nothing short of Amazing !!!! Quick and very accommodating. Including calling the surgical team to get information they left off of the paperwork. read more

This review is only directed to initial call and intake. Where is the compassion and heart of service for patient services? Putting a patient on hold without a greeting and letting the patient there is a hold time is so unprofessional. Before even greeting a patient, on the phone, and immediately asking about insurance reflects ZERO care for well-being...even before identifying the patient... Frequently disconnecting a patient and saying, 'sorry...I couldn't find your answer' when 4 calls are made is awful! Is this really how the organization wants to be represented? Where is the QC? Who is monitoring the phone calls/initial intake? Who is training the front line? The call to the office is the first and lasting impression. read more

Great experience. Now they have patient self-scheduling, so wait times are less. Front office staff are friendly, stressed at times, but I understand that. They work very hard to help me get what I need. Providers are caring and compassionate. Sometimes a longer wait, but I understand that quality care takes time. I have been attending for a few years now but I must say that I am not impressed. My Doctor who I stayed for in-spite of rude support staff, always has me waiting for 30 to hour, plus. I don't feel valued, prioritized or appreciated. At this point, I am just staying for convenience, but I tend to use urgent care if something comes up. I pray that this review will motivate change at the Bowie office and bring God into their work. God is love. read more

I won't tell anyone not to go to this practice. However, you should be aware that if you value respect & courtesy from your doctor's office, you won't get it here. I give them 2 stars only because of the compassion and professionalism of the providers I've seen, Dr. Prince and Barbara Nelson. But similar to the prior reviewer, I found the front office, particularly the receptionist and office supervisor, Miss Gaskins, challenging at best to deal with. My phone calls are frequently placed on hold without even a greeting, and then never answered. And that's if the receptionist picks up at all. When I do finally get to someone, my attempts to address concerns are met with disdain, condescension, and interruptions. The overall communication tone has been unprofessional, significantly impacting my overall satisfaction with the practice. I have therefore decided to find another primary care physician, and I think that's unfortunate. I doubt the providers know their staff are treating patients this way. read more

I have gone to the Hanover location for my entire adult life. I needed a physical for work the Hanover office was booked for months so I went to the Bowie location a 4 minute drive. Labs were drawn and the provider NEVER interpreted, commented, or sent a message regarding the labs she ordered. I will continue to drive 32 minutes to the Hanover location. read more

What a difference a doctor makes. I have been a patient of this office for 10 years. Since Dr. Cavanagh left the overall service level of this office has gone to pot. The personnel are short and disrespectful. My annual physical only took 8 min. no lung, or eye check. no Hemoccult test, no test for organ normality. Basically how are you doing and bye. I tried to make an appointment for what I know to be bronchitis. I was told that I couldn't come into the office and I would have to do a telemedicine appointment instead. I explained to the person I was speaking with that I went through this the last time I had bronchitis and the Nurse Practitioner told me during the telemedicine appointment that she could not help me unless I came into the office. So, the tele-med appointment was a waste of my time and money! Her response to my very calm and tempered explanation in an attempt for reconsideration of an in-person appointment: "Yeah, well we're not seeing sick people in the office." I mean, seriously, that is LITERALLY YOUR JOB TO SEE SICK PEOPLE! What kind of alternate universe is this practice living in? I had to go to urgent care. I will not go back to this place. Since Dr. Cavanaugh left, the quality of care and the constant turnover of staff is simply unacceptable. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere. read more

I was not in the market for a new primary doctor, but after what I encountered with the front/office staff today, I will be now. It's a shame as I liked my primary (Rosie), but the office staff are unprofessional and rude. I had a 6 month check up for today which was canceled. I understand things come up. However dealing with the front/office staff to reschedule has been a nightmare. Not only was I put on hold the second time I called but whoever I was talking with never returned. They also can't get me in for a morning appointment with my primary and brushed off I either need to see someone else on their staff if I want a morning or find time in a hectic afternoons. Seeing someone else defeats the purpose of seeing your primary who requested a follow up and have a relationship with and knowledge of your medical history. Don't bother with this place. read more

I will be finding a new office. I belonged to this practice for years. My level of care changed when Susan Miles (my primary care physician) left years ago. Its been on a downward slide. Most recently when I had my woman's wellness exam, they misplaced my urine, my blood work was read to me on the phone by a medical assistant where she missed the fact that my white blood count was very high. I called back to talk to the PA who was the one to conduct my exam, I had to beg for that conversion. I was unsatisfied with her, because she never even mentioned the high WBC. I called again to talk with Warden Jarrett, its been almost 3 weeks and no call. Not to mention that I cannot even get a visit with Warden Jarrett she is never available. Before my visit, I called the office to verify my insurance was considered in network by the office before I made my appt. I was told yes; they accept my insurance. I was referred by my friend who received excellent care. Not only did I not received the care that she spoke of, but about a week later I got a bill for bloodwork for about $300. I'm not sure if the issue was that of race or not, I'm black and my friend is fair skin and mixed race. unfortunately, black women do not receive the same care from many doctors. I called the office when I received this bill for clarification and was told then, over a week after I was seen, that I was not in network and there was nothing that can be done to correct the "error" the initial person I spoke with was new and wasn't sure of who was in network or what. I don't see how I should be penalized for that office error, why that wasn't discovered when I presented my cards and checked in before my visit, and why I was not even informed until I revived this bill. I'm so glad I didn't proceed with the referrals I was given because I later found that anyone, I would have been referred to out of the office; I would have been charged the out of network rate due to the origin of the referral. I wrote letters, I called to speak to different people from the receptionist to collections to the office manager to no avail. This is a rip off, a way to take advantage of people, and not even give proper care. Would not recommend to anyone. read more

Why is the staff so argumentative? SPECIFICALLY: The lady with the accent. This woman's attitude is quite appalling. Nobody wants to be subjected to disgusting customer service, especially people who are sick or caring for sick loved ones. Especially during a pandemic and other unprecedented times. She put me on hold then hung up. I called back and the shenanigans continued. This was at 9:27am. Christina is awesome though..! She actively listened to me, and I could tell she was trying to do everything she could to help me and she tried to do everything in her power to compensate for her colleagues nastiness. My Mother suggested I try this place after my primary care physician retired. I've been going here for almost 3 years, mostly routine checkups. As more attention was needed as I began aging solidly into my 40's, my body and health in general needed more attention. I mostly was seen by Dr. Jamali. I've lived in this area for more than half my life. Here is my rundown: PRO: Location Parking is available, if you don't need to be close to the door, most of the staff takes the covered parking; Starbucks, Safeway nearby for after a visit; Other medical / health related services and businesses offered within the building; CON: I still haven't heard back from Dr. Jamali since my appointment more than a month ago; NOT uncommon. Waiting to hear back is a common problem, since day one with this practice; Generally, the practice is to make a follow-up appointment with your doctor here. No wonder most of the patients I've seen were older retiree age. Who has time for that, especially, for routine visits and not much feedback during the follow-up visit. The follow-up visit is more of a "practice" than a requirement. I always, repeat, always felt rushed at this practice, no matter who I saw. I'm not sure what medical schools and other institutions of higher learning where this is being taught, but, I suspect most people are not prone to disclose what may be possibly ailing them if doctors focus on OUTPUT and not OUTCOMES. I am still waiting to hear from Dr. Jamali... 3 calls later, again, not uncommon. How about call me to schedule a time to discuss, which I've suggested. What is this... no news is good news? Meanwhile, my finger that I had an xray for is still hurting. Keep in mind, my ailments preceded making an appointment 2 weeks prior to seeing Dr. Jamali and now I'm a month out from when my visit took place. read more

I went to MPCP for the first time yesterday. I have been having knee issues and really needed to see what was going on. I tend to try and be proactive when I'm a first time patient and print out and complete all paperwork beforehand. Since that was already taken care of, that took off 10 minutes of waiting. I came in, handed the front desk my paperwork and they input the data, before I was even finished signing the sheet they handed me, I was asked to come in the back to pay my co-pay (it is required before you're seen). Right after I paid my co-pay I was sent to the back to be weighed, for my height to be taken and sent in the waiting room. I prepared myself to wait for at least 10-15 minutes but about two minutes later the nurse practitioner came in. Her name was Colleen Webb and she was very helpful and seemed very knowledgeable. It didn't feel like a rushed appointment at all. This is only my first visit so we will see how things go, but for now I think I have found a good primary doctor. read more

In the rare instances their phones are on and you get an appt that week, it's never with the same person twice. Do the Drs even show up at this office anymore bc I only ever get nurse practitioners? Today was the worst experience yet. Though the intake nurse was a good listener, nurse practitioner "Rosie" was all "uh huh, uh huh, uh huh". Too busy repeating "uh huh" like a nervous tic to listen. I am quick, to the point & prepared before appointments bc I know they give you very little time. She was too focused on quitting time and cut me off saying she wasn't going to hear the other reason for my appt. "Make an appt for a physical". Earliest? JUNE! 45 days away! She also called in the wrong Rx and said she's prevented by law to write a note for my work saying I was out for medical reasons. What??? I love Dr. Warden-Jarrett but the office management is very disorganized and there is always an issue or delay with my appointments and scheduling especially with the lab. I'm sitting here now waiting over an hour to a lab appointment to get my birth control shot. In other instances they have mixed up dates for my injections causing me to have to reschedule appointments. It's unfortunately time to find a new doctor. read more

I visited the office today, 07-30-19, because I am experiencing nausea, sweating profusely, a very sore throat and a headache. I was scheduled to see the NP Leslie Lawson as it is impossible to see the actual Doctors here unless you call a month or more ahead of time to schedule (I am not sure if they have doctors here anymore to be honest, I once saw a Dr. Jarrett, she seemed OK). I was analyzed by the NP and she told me I had the summer cold going around. She had no further recommendations for me. I asked her to fill out my FMLA for 3 days rest and she said absolutely NO! We do not do that, I'll give you a note. No? But I am SICK and it's a requirement of my employer, my insurance is paying you and I need to get well not to infect others! I feel awful and need rest! Additionally, again, I am SICK!!! I left the office with a note for my employer that said excuse my absence from 07-30 to 08-04 and to return 08-05 with no restrictions...that's it! (I wish I could post it) no details, nothing! I had to call back to get my AFTER VISIT SUMMARY because they did not give it to me when I left. The front desk acted as if I should not have it and I was questioned about why I needed the after summary. Well, the doctor's note didn't even say why I was sick, or why I was being seen, it just stated to excuse my absence and one might wonder, excuse her absence for what right? I made a U turn to get my summary and it stated, I have an acute respiratory infection. Well, my employer needs the diagnosis, treatment and reason I was seen that's all, a few more details please. They advised me the NP Leslie said she would not write any further details or expound on her analysis of my health. My employer does not accept doctor's notes and the FMLA paperwork takes about THREE MINUTES TO FILL OUT, not too much to ask right? My employer sets the procedures to excuse sickness and unfortunately, we all get sick sometimes. NP Leslie said my ailment did not qualify for FMLA. Guess what Leslie, you don't make that call. You fill out the paperwork and the determination is made by my employer! They approve or deny not you! Well, I can't get sick and keep my job with this office. Done with them. I know FMLA is a requirement for many employers, so you have been warned. Sorry colleagues, I will be in tomorrow SICK!! NEVER AGAIN WILL THEY SEE ME AT THIS OFFICE, NEXT! read more

Worst experience Ever! I had a pre scheduled appointment for today April 11 at 1:30pm. When I received the confirmation text my finger accidentally hit the letter E instead of Y. Immediately realizing my error I called the office, spoke to the receptionist who schedules and told her it was a mistake and I am keeping the appointment. She assured me it was still in the system for the 11th. I thanked her and hung up.i arrived at the office an hour before my appointment and the receptionist says it was canceled. I explained to her what happened and she said the young lady that told me it was still in the system didn't realize the system updates and when it does it cancels and the receptionist should have rescheduled me for the same time, she didn't so I was asked if I would like to wait till around. Lond story short, I sat for 2 hours the doctor comes and and greets me then says I dont show you as arrived and to ask the receptionist who was suppose to double book me for today didn't and I found out that I was to complete paperwork and No One Gave Me anything for over 2 Hours of waiting. I walked out after that leaving the 2 receptionists arguing with each other. IT WAS THE HEIGHT OF INCOMPETENCE!!!! And I am DONE. read more

I started as a patient of Dr. Cavanaugh's over 20 yrs ago with the practice in Crofton. What a disappointing visit today. The front desk staff were polite. However, the nurse made it apparent they were not happy that I was the last appointment for the day. The first thing the NP said was, "We expected you earlier". I was scheduled for 4:30, but she thought it was 4:15. It set the tone of the appt. The other nurse who took my blood was agitated and scrambled in a hurry to take my blood, clearly more interested in getting out of there than caring for a customer. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Maryland Primary Care Physicians for May 10, 2017. I was scheduled to see Dr. Jarrett. I arrived 30 minutes early to complete the required paperwork for new patients as advised by the receptionist. My appointment was scheduled for 1:45 p.m. I waited an entire hour before I spoke with the receptionist and discussed my displeasure with having to wait so long to see the doctor. I am way beyond irritated at this point because the entire time I sat there after 1;45 p.m. 4 to 5 patients were seen ahead of me. I speak with the receptionist again and inform her that I want my paperwork returned to me and that I am leaving. My entire drive home I am boiling mad because I used a day of leave to make this appointment. I call the office back to complain formally and speak with the office manager Linda and she informs me that Dr. Jarrett whom I had an appointment with had an emergency patient come into the office. I thought emergencies were handled in the ER? My experience today was completely unprofessional and I will not be referring any friends or family to this office. read more

The front desk staff and whoever answers their phone need customer service training. They are the first line that people encounter and they are not pleasant or forthcoming. Some of them chat a lot and don't give any update if the provider is running behind. If you try to talk to them, it's like your begging for an attention. Patients like me have to wait and hope we can get in within a reasonable time but we don't. They also don't take any more phone calls from 4pm even if the clinic is still open until 5pm. They also ordered lab test that I didn't need or requested and end up paying because the insurance won't cover. I complained already to the office manager but she didn't resolve the issue. read more

I've been to this practice three times in two years, one time to see M.D. George Cavanagh and twice to see CNRP Leslie Lawson. My visit with Dr. Cavanagh was for a physical examination. It was very routine and informative. My latest visit with Dr. Lawson was cordial. I would like to note that if effective communication is important, I advise seeing another doctor. While trying to explain a miscommunication from an earlier visit, Dr. Lawson did not let me get in a word. She explained in depth why the topic would not be discussed, then proceeded to complete my physical examination, which was lacking in its entirety. I will be sticking with more experienced practitioners from now on. They seem to have better communication skills. read more
