The first time I heard about this place was from "Somebody Feed Phil." When we arrived, there was a short line outside the door. It went pretty quickly though. I decided to get the milk flavor, and liked the creamy texture overall. We also enjoyed the view of the castle while eating the ice cream outside.

Their ice cream was good, nothing amazing. What is amazing is the view of the castle. That itself is worth coming here. There's something magical about eating ice cream and admiring the castle that inspired Hogwarts. My biggest gripe is that they limit you to only one sample. I'm not sure what happened here to make them so stingy with their samples. I get not having unlimited samples but a max of one is ridiculous. Thankfully, the people working there helped recommend which flavors we should try.

We were very excited to check out the Tickety Tik Tok famous Mary's Milk Bar. My wife had showed me many videos as we planned for this trip, and I like sweets, so we were both equally excited. It's a cute little shop in a great location in the Grassmarket area of old town, Edinburgh. From outside you look across and you can see the castle up on the hill. The staff inside were friendly and patient with us as I took my photos and videos and explained that we've heard about them online and we're eager to try some sweet treats. We actually stopped by twice in the same day. Yup! It's THAT good. On our first visit, we tried the spaghetti ice cream sundae. That was unique and quite delicious. They squeeze the ice cream through a little machine that turns it into a little spaghetti noodles of ice cream and then they put some toppings on it and make a nice sundae. On our second visit, I got a hot chocolate float. For this treat, they fill up a cup of hot chocolate, and drop in a scoop of ice cream. Went with the salted caramel with my hot chocolate and it was very delicious. It was chilly when we visited, but even so, we very much enjoyed our cold treats.

Just as described ....absolutely best ice cream with amazing daily flavors . I opted for the lavender /lemon curd paired with a scoop of plum . Amazing . Service was friendly and helpful ---but be ready to wait in line . Others have a deep appreciation for all things at Mary's! Visit this little quaint bright gem in Grass-market!

There is always a line at this place so I knew I had to go. The ice gelato was calling my name. Daily they offered limited flavors but there was a freshness to y gelato that made my tongue dance. Now I understand the like. This is a small place so you que up outside - somewhat of a quaint ambiance. The chocolate gelato is very rich. Yum

Place is small, but line moves quick. They had 10 flavors, they allow tasting of a couple if you ask. Very friendly service and outstanding ice cream. I had the dark chocolate and salted caramel in a waffle cone. Worth the wait.

While we were in line, a man passed by whispering "it's really goood". And he was right. It's really really good. There's no shortage of gelato shops in the area, but Mary's is doing something special. I enjoyed a cup of the cherry and cream and dark chocolate and it was so good! Rich, creamy and perfect! My husband got the pistachio and salted caramel, which was equally lovely! The line moves quickly but you never feel rushed once inside. They're kind and thoughtful, even greeting nicely the young children ahead of us in line!

This ice cream is next-level good. Don't be put off by the long line (if there is one); it moves fast, and the ice cream is worth the wait. The only downside is a limited selection of flavors, many or most of which have unusual ingredients that might not appeal to less-adventurous eaters.

The queue was worth it! Only 8 allowed in at a time but a very clear queueing system on the edge of the street for this cute storefront. I had sized up my choice from the menu in the store window (goat milk and fig jam), but tried hazelnut, cantaloupe and ricotta and orange once in store as well and it was all amazing. Great variety of innovative flavors, deliciously well done, and great milky ness. Thanks for accommodating our large group order of 12 with ease!

All the hype was worth it. Perfect little ice cream shop with amazing views of the castle. Not to be missed!

On our way to Vennel Viewpoint, we saw about two dozen people in line. We decided to join them. We had the sweet corn, burnt butter and black pepper along with the cherry in cream. We barely tasted any corn. The staff were very nice. I just wish we liked their ice cream better.

Looking out from the store has a castle view.

THE best ice cream I've had in the UK, hands down. The variety and uniqueness of flavors is unparalleled, and it tastes great.

I don't get why it's so popular. The ice cream was ok. The kids running the shop were a bit of a space cadet.

In the front of the establishment you are served various luscious flavors of ice cream and in the back you can relax and enjoy. They have very comfortable couches where you can lie back and day dream, read or chat with another. When I recently visited I got the Banoffee and Caramel Flavors. My friend ordered some fruity scoop ...... They also sell Salted Caramel, Amarena, Gingerbread, Yoghurt, Pistacchio........about 18 flavors in total. The ice cream is creamy and just the right amount of sweet. Just luscious. You get a lot of ice cream for affordable prices. 1 scoop = £2.50, and the portion is massive. They offer even two or more flavors in one scoop. Next time I will try and get an "Affogato", a mix of coffee and ice cream. I learned that Affogato means drowning, so clearly the idea behind ice cream drowning in coffee :-) Also beware! The parlor is closed on a Sunday night after 18.00, what is a shame, as it would be nice to enjoy some delicious ice cream before bed time.
