This review is from my experience with threading by Mary. I trust her completely with my eyebrows and have been consistently happy with her threading for the past two years. I have tried several threading places from Mira Mesa to Rancho Bernardo and Mary is by far my favorite. She works carefully and precisely and I can wait 3-4 weeks between threading which I am happy with for the rate. The threading packages here are great. I love how she uses a combination of threading and tweezing for precision. It was difficult to find someone that takes the time and skill to have such precision. I have also had positive experiences with other staff here, but Mary is my favorite. I have never had a negative experience with anyone else, but I have found that I have to come in sooner with other staff's threading services. Love this place!! read more

I have eyebrows that are of different lengths, which, in their natural state, is minimally noticeable. We confirmed before the threading that was the case and confirmed that I'd like to make them symmetric with the threading. The woman then threaded my longer eyebrow to be shorter than the other, so I still have the eyebrow asymmetry but even more noticeable. My longer eyebrow is now essentially a stub. Really frustrated and trying to figure out how to hide this mess. read more

I let my brows grow out through quarantine but decided to go in today to get them done and unfortunately I'm really disappointed with how they turned out. She completely thinned them out and my right eyebrow is noticeable thinner than my left brow too. She was also on the phone as she was doing my brows, which I didn't really mind until I saw how my brows turned out later. I've been getting my brows done here for a couple years now and have only had one other bad experience but I think I'm going to save my money (and my eyebrows) next time I want them done. read more

I used to go to a place on Miramar, but since I moved to PQ I found this awesome place! Every time I have gone here I've received great service and eyebrows on point! They also have a prepaid card package where 6 sessions is 40 dollars total. That's six bucks and some change for 6 times, what a deal! Not to mention the owners are very nice as well! I would take both my daughters to Mary's to get their brows done. In late 2019 the cashier told me that Mary's had a deal where if I paid for a 6 brow services in advance it would be a good deal because you get an extra brow service for free. I bought the card for around $55ish. It would be stamped at ever use. We used three of the services as my daughters only get their brows done every 2-3 months. We did try to use the card for both of them once in the same visit in 2019 but was told one use per visit. I understood that although I didn't agree. One of my daughter went off to Texas for college and the other is in middle school so we only go so often. Covid hits in March 2020 and things close including Mary's. We didn't feel safe going the few months that Mary's was open in 2020 and the beginning of 2021 because the employee gets very close to the customers face when getting brows done. In April 2021 we finally felt at ease to get brows done. My daughter was home from college for Easter and went in to Mary's. She brought the card that I paid for in advance and was only half used (still had 3 service left). When my daughter tried to oay with it, the cashier at Mary's took it from her and said it was over a year old and it was expired and did not allow her to use it. She took it from my daughter and ripped it up in front of her. My daughter had to pay with her debit card. How dare the employee take it and rip it up on front of her!!! She didn't even give my daughter a chance to look and see if there was an expiration date on it . Marys was closed for a long time off and on. I realize it's been hard on businesses but to take advantage of customers isn't the way to make up revenue. That was like a gift card that I paid for in advance for service. Gift cards don't expire in California. Mary's basically took my money by not honoring the card. They are the ones who pushed me to buy it in the first place! This is very shady and dishonest business practice. I will not be going back to Mary's. Please do not buy one of their service cards because you may loose your money like I did. I am sad to leave a bad review for this place. The ladies were nice and the lady that did my threading seemed nice and hard working. I came in to use my Groupon that expires December 4th and I went in November 29th. I drove far and in the rain for this appointment because I wanted to use the certificate before it's expiration date. After my services were over, the ladies told me that the owner told them they could no longer accept Groupon certificates. I had not received any notification from Groupon that the certificate could not be used or the business had cancelled the certificate. I had actually received an email that day from Groupon reminding me to use the certificate before its expiration date. When the lady asked me to pay full price, I tried calling Groupon while I was there but was unable to reach a customer service agent and I had to leave to pick up my kids from school. I paid the lady and left. I received a call back from Groupon stating that Mary's Threading had NOT discontinued its account with Groupon and should have accepted my certificate. I would not have driven all the way to Carmel Mountain for this service if I didn't have the Groupon to use. There are many places closer to where I live and work. So if you have a Groupon, BEWARE and do not attempt to use it. There should have been a sign posted so that customers were away before having services performed if this business did not want to accept Groupon certificates anymore. I had also tried calling the business twice the day of my appointment to see if I could change my appointment to a day that was not raining but nobody answered the phone. When I walked in, the ladies acted like they didn't know I had an appointment. I had made the appointment online the week before and received a confirmation email that my appointment had been set. The lady tried to sell me a pack of 6 threading services which would have discounted the service to about $23/service but at that point I was so upset that my Groupon would not be honored that I was not about to purchase 5 additional services! read more

Mary does the best job! Thankfully she's always there when I come in randomly! I moved 45 min away and still find myself coming back to this place. I wanted a lip and brow done, which another woman was doing it and it hurt SO BAD I told her I will not be doing the lip because it was so painful and rough! I think Mary saw I was uncomfortable and she took over and there was NO PAIN AT ALL. Fast and wonderful as always! Mary does an amazing job! Not sure who the other woman was but it was painful! I would actually give them 0 stars if I could. I've never been cut before, but Mary's threading managed to cut me and remove skin. I went to get my eyebrows threaded just for a cleanup and it was a disaster. I explained what I needed to the threader and she acted as if she New what to do. It felt very odd, so I stopped her just to look and it was a mess. Another lady said let me see, and said I can fix it. I asked the original threader was she new and she responded yes. I'm all for people learning, but a more experienced threader should have been guiding her. They didn't even offer to give my the service complimentary and I paid for my eyebrows after having a cut. Bought an eyebrow pack my first time going to Mary's, paid in advance for eyebrow services after being heavily persuaded to buy the pack. Went in today to finally get my free threading session and was told that they wouldn't accept my card because it had been over a year since I bought the pack, which they never mentioned when I bought it or have it on the card. Mary's was shut down on and off for multiple months in 2020 and even when it was open I was not sure it was safe to get brows threaded. I was completely caught off guard and confused at the dates because the last time I went they accepted it and it had already been over a year! She even told me that if I bought a new 6-pack right there she'd allow me to have my free session. How sweet of her to offer. I loved going to Mary's and they've always done a wonderful job, I hope they continue to stay in business while simply explaining the new rules and allow people to use their card that they paid for prior to covid. read more

I had my 1st threading experience.Threading is about the same discomfort level as waxing-not much! 'With threading however; Skin isn't damaged or pink and puffy for hours either. They did a great job for me... I can't see up close well enough to fix my own eyebrows anymore.Department stores, The Benefit Brow Bar, etc. are ok-ish but difficult to get appointments, waxing is alright, the brows do grow back Faster. read more

Mary had a surgery so she wasn't able to do my brows. Frida did mine yesterday with Mary supervising her. She took a while to finish my brows. A little painful but tolerable. At first I thought she did a great job but when I got home, my sister told me that my right eyebrow has a spot with no hair & looking at it she's right. Frida must've took out too much on my right eyebrow. It looks obvious now & it's not thoroughly cleaned up at the bottom. I'm so disappointed. read more
