This is one of the long-time Chinese bakeries that continue to serve us cheap treats without complaints from the beginning of time, it seems. I once grabbed a box-full of egg tarts and brought them to work which was a hit. Who can resist those cute yellow tarts? And when I needed a fix in the morning after coffee, something easy on the system, they have those sweet melt-in-your-mouth buns with various fillings like ham and egg, which are very satisfying. The selection is over-whelming and I find myself reading the reviews for more opinions on the different items I see, but not sure if I should try. On the counter there were even some types of bagels, and they sure didn't look like any bagel I've ever seen before. Now, would you try one? Go check it out and explore some of the unusual treats only available at Mashion Baker (up the street a few blocks from Meeple Mart game store : )

Not bad for the price. Place is clean and tidy. There's a lot of customers buying things so the food shouldbe fresh.

So many baked Chinese pastries and buns. Could only get a couple to try so got the pineapple bun and a lotus flaky pastry with egg yolk. Everything was fresh.

So many yummy foods to choose from and very cheap. I got the taro bun and it was so delicious and it only costed $1.25. They do charge an extra dollar if you're paying with a card, but everything is still so affordable.

The great MASHION BAKERY on the East side of Spadina Avenue just North of Baldwin is an in-house bakery that produces a store of full of delicious Chinese pastries, pies & cookies to satisfy any sweet tooth craving as well as meat filled savoury buns. They have taken the COVID pandemic seriously and all items are packaged in a clear packet. The attached pictures gives a view of their sweet offerings - with my favourites being the red bean paste buns and the almond cookies. Yumm!

Low prices and great quality in terms of the bread and fillings. I particularly liked their large egg tarts and the glutinous rice dumplings with pork filling. I wish they had the flakey crusted egg tarts in the larger size since they currently sell them in the mini sizes.

My friends and I stumbled across the bakery while exploring Chinatown. We wandered in and noticed that there were not a lot of bakery goods available. I looked up their hours on Yelp and saw that they were closing for the night soon. The establishment only accepts cash or debit cards. The buns and bakery goods are sorted and organized on shelves and the tables in the middle. Name tags with their prices are placed nearby to identify the items. We grabbed a bunch of bakery goods and the total came out to $10.25. The employee did the math in his head, made me wonder if he really calculated everything correctly. There was no receipt provided. The food was alright in my opinion. I wasn't crazy about the pork bun, red bean bun, melon cake, and few other items. The buns were really dry. However, the banana mochi-like-texture bakery food (around 6-8 pieces) was pretty good. I definitely recommend that item and the sponge cakes.

Good selection of buns and tarts. Sometimes they've got discounted bags of assorted buns up front that they want you to take off their hands quickly, and it's like half a dozen buns or so for $2.50 per bag. PER BAG. Different bags have different things so take a look at what they have before settling with a bag or two. Deals are posted out in the front and they're pretty nice. If you're passing through chinatown drop by and grab something to snack on. Or get a bag of buns for the night.

Super affordable Chinese Bakery. They have a nice selection of items. Grab yourself a tray and tongs. Get what you want and then take your tray up to the cashier to check out. Quick and easy. Service is friendly enough. I don't have very high expectations when it comes to service at any Chinatown :P We try our best to check out all the bakeries in the area. This is probably one of my faves. The price and quality makes us happy campers. Can't beat 3 buns for $1.

It's a pretty standard Chinese bakery. There are several bakeries on Spadina to choose from, but I ended up grabbing some buns from here after seeing a couple Chinese grandpas snacking on buns and reading the newspaper at the front of the shop. You know it's good when the locals go there for breakfast. Large variety of goods for a cheap price. The buns and egg tarts I bought were tasty and filling. I'll be back, Mashion Bakery!

But there was no "lava" at all... just a layer of cream sitting on a thick tart base. You do get some matcha flavour, but definitely not that rich and flowing matcha sauce I saw in those online reels. Matcha Mont Blanc - Too sweet. The green noodle-shaped topping is actually made from a kind of bean paste - not much matcha taste, but had a strong bean flavour instead. And again, it was too sweet to my liking. Taro Tart - This one was good. Taro-flavoured cream on top, with taro paste underneath, then a layer of custard with mochi at the bottom. Had a rich taro flavour. Still a bit sweet, but not as overwhelming as the Mont Blanc. Overall it was not bad, although TBH I haven't really found great matcha desserts in Toronto so far.

I love the little hole in the wall vibe and the modern look they've done with the space. The staff members were a little on the quiet side and a little tough to hear (and may not have fully understood me?) but were very kind and polite. The pastry selection, while maybe a little on the small side, is absolutely otherworldly in appearance. If I could have taken home one of everything, I absolutely might have. I ended up getting the creme brulee tart, pistachio croissant roll, and the tiramisu latte. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until I opened the box later that I got the one cocoa dusted matcha tart instead of the pistachio roll. Oh well, I'm not going to complain too much since, as I said, I was happy with literally anything I got. The creme brulee tart - 10/10 would recommend. Crunchy, flaky tart with creamy creme brulee hit all the right notes of layers of flavor and texture. Mmm, delicious. The matcha tart was decent though I may have been slightly bummed from not getting what I had been expecting. Regardless, another delicious treat, though definitely more on mellower side flavor-wise than the creme brulee. Still good but not quite what I was hoping for. The same went for the tiramisu latte. While I absolutely loved the presentation with the lady fingers on top, it did make it a little difficult to actually get in there and use them with the cup being so full before they got soggy and eventually disintegrated into the drink. The drink itself was OK but again pretty mild on both flavor and sweetness (and I definitely like things a little on the sweeter side). I feel like maybe a sweetened mascarpone whipped topping or something to really cap it off would have finished the look and maybe rounded out the drink a bit. Oh well, maybe next time. All in all, maybe not my go-to coffee shop in town, but definitely a great little place to stop in for a treat or two!

She also noticed all the  staff speak French sp it gives it even more legitimacy.  She also ordered a Flat White ($4.50) which was also good. I ordered a Plum Almond Tart ($7.25) because it was the prettiest. It was super delicious so it was definitely a good choice! Service was courteous and friendly. Hopped on my bike and a half hour later I was there. The friendly staff helped me by answering my question regarding eggs and which items did not have any in the recipes. This place was also super poppin' when I got there. It was earlish in the day around 10:30am and it seemed all the tables were pretty much taken. They are adding a dinner menu which is very exciting. Their pastries are phenomenal!!! Picked up a plum and pistachio tart, a chocolate mousse cake and an apple Danish for my mom. Plus a chocolate caramelized croissant. So much butter, and yet so good. Brought my container, which they happily used. The last time I visited this spot back in 2022, I vowed I would come back and take up space in that beautiful bay window seat. Yet I haven't followed through with that yet. One day. They also changed the name, since I was there last it was called Le Conciliabule Lab. Le Conciliabule means, "speak easy", as their website says. It was used back in the day to describe a place where people would come together and talk about everything and nothing. I can definitely say that happens here. What a beautiful concept, "everything and nothing". Now named Bisou, which means kiss. That's actually really simple and sweet. Since every pastry and any food item or beverage enjoyed here is a kiss for your tastebuds. Love it. Keep going team. You are amazing!
