As someone who loves crafts (to buy, not make), I was automatically drawn to II Papiro partially because of its welcoming and warm lit environs, but mostly because of its incredible stationary, papers, cards, and related accessories you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else in the world. As the digital age begins to permanently change how we read and communicate and express ourselves, it's important to remember that at one point in history, paper making was as much of an art as anything that was written or drawn on it. You will find papers of all colors, patterns, and more importantly, textures at II Papiro - each item is the type of product you know much work went into. I bought a few cards here...the designs are extraordinary colored silhouettes of Firenze landmarks and had detailed cuts in its design. I also bought a wax seal (although I remember being tempted by the nice calligraphy pens). Although I've only used it a few times, I still get a kick of STAMPING melted wax with my seal (my fancy looking initials). If you're ever at Firenze, this place is definitely worth stopping by if only for even a little bit...you might find something you will value taking home with you that beats a lot of items you could find at your regular tourist traps.

The proprietor was so helpful and not at the least bit pushy, it was a welcome relief from the nearby street merchants. From leather bound journals, wax seals, eclectic post cards just to name a few things that caught our eye at Scrivimi. The selection is well curated as the shop is not that large. They do cater to tourists and gift givers as they are right in the historic centre. The tiny door is easy to miss if you're not paying attention, and the shop sign is a marble engraved plaque just to the left of the entrance. Other than that the shop isn't really marked. This is the place to go if you love paper. Don't expect a huge selection, artists supplies or stationary.
