My son was in town visiting with a friend, so of course I took him to the shops on Central Ave. A must drive for all tourists & even locals. Masks Y Mas is just chocked full of Mexican art & curiosities. A fun place to wander around to find gifts for self, friends, & family. You can see from the pictures the amazing collections of items for sale. Staff were friendly & knowledgeable of their products. Highly recommended this place for a visit

This nifty store has lots of cool little trinkets and gifts. If you need more Dia de los Muertos stuff in your life this is the place. Great stop for souvenirs.

A great store for fun art, clothing, decor and gifts. Prices are fair and reasonable. Employees are friendly and knowledgeable. The vibe is electric! Don't blink tho you might miss seeing an amazing piece! The walls are loaded with so many goodies! Many great gift ideas. Fun jewelry pieces and tshirts made by local artists.

    Fun earrings!

This store is an adventure filled with New Mexican chachkis and jewelry. As per my usual routine, I perused the jewelry, and there was a terrific selection--colorful, fun, folk artsy, and pretty. Some had Frida Khalo on it. Super cute. I picked up two pair for a steal of 2 for $7. There's tons of New Mexican art, sugar skull stuff and masks. The gentleman behind the counter was helpful and friendly. If you need to pick up a gift with New Mexican flavor, this is the spot. I got a gift there--for me!

I took my sister here who was visiting. She loves Calaveras and looking for Knick Knacks. Place is super cool and has a bunch of Calacas, Calaveras and a lot of Mexican artisanal items. The staff is super friendly too..lots of cool picture opportunities too with the cool art. Must go check them out.

Very unique art and good prices

Kiko the owner and David are very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. You can spend about more than an hour here admiring all the artisans. A lot of the items imported or done by the local artist. Great place to come after dinner, and near the university of NM.The prices are amazing.... A must when visiting Albuquerque NM.

Like most of my species, I'm absolutely fascinated by the one thing we'll collectively never know anything about until we get there: death. I suppose this is why I insist on designating my agnostic position from its atheist cousin; while I'm pretty doubtful The Other Side exists, hey, what do I know? As the Digable Planets would say, We're just babies, man. When the End comes for me, I'd personally prefer a spirit realm that keeps me close to the place I left, as opposed to clouds and gates and wings on my back. And plenty of flowers, while I'm there. This connected Otherworld is the stuff of dia de los muertos and it's celebrated year-round at Mask Y Mas, a delightful local artisan collective in Nob Hill. The Mas is plentiful: paintings, sculpture, figurines, clothing and accessories, this is an excellent shop that represents the 505's fascination and dedication to the neighboring holiday. Smart, tasteful and anything but tacky, these skeletons have serious flayvah, and some of the work is so sharp I find myself astonished by the significant talent pool of our local creative community. We have some seriously gifted artists crafting the character of our desert home, and here they shine. Masks Y Mas sits at the top of my personal echelon for gifts that proudly boast New Mexico, and I advise a visit to foreigners and locals alike. Because hey, as Pitbull rightly notes, for all we know we might not get tomorrow...

Awesome store. LOTS of cool stuff in here. Lots of excellent local artwork. If you're in the Nob Hill area, definitely a place that needs to be checked out.

We have Santa Fe, the "City Different", home to painters, sculptors and other artists the world over who thrive (even in a recession), and the town houses its share of artists who practice artisan athletics, music, meditation, what have you. We have Taos and the surrounding communes, wherein you'll find celebrated maestros, architects and off-the-grid nomads; if you haven't driven west toward the gorge, put it on your travel to-do list, you won't be disappointed. Key word: earth ships. Silver City: artisan hideout. Same goes for Tularosa, Cloudcroft, Los Ojos, Red River, Jemez, Zuni, San Antonio... I could go on and on. These are the sneaky peeks, the places where funky personas with wild ideas relocate, where they can live in relative calm, bask under endlessly open skies, where they often create grand visionary works that encompass the entirety of their lifetime journeys. O'Keefe did the same at Ghost Ranch. Personally, I love bumping into a gallery or a store along my travels, where these fascinating people will find a few minutes for some straight talk about their work. I've found them in corners of the state I never imagined they could exist, but they do, they persist, and I'm always thrilled to find them. I often wonder how they survive. Surely, selling the occasional canvass to the wandering traveler won't pay the rent. Enter Mariposa, a gallery in the heart of Nob Hill which showcases 90%+ local artists. Paintings, mixed-media and a smattering of jewelry provide welcome access to some of the most vital artists in the New Mexico realm. This place focuses on artists who remain just below the radar, who could use a little financial backing. The business has grown with time, changing locations twice, and over the years they've developed a long list of artists who've benefited from their publicity and advocacy and now give back, promoting the next generation. Fantastic. You don't have to visit with the intent of a purchase. Come and devour with your eyes. You won't forget it.

So much fun that I just had to take two of my friends back here to celebrate their birthdays. There was no doubt in my mind that this place was the perfect birthday present and time to spend with them. Memories. Pat myself on the back . . . they loved it and I think they will bring other friends back to have this experience also. Zinks Town is an art gallery that also specializes in the experience of creating a lasting magic memory with their "Succulent Bar". Creating the magic: You select a container& then select one or two plants from an extensive variety of succulents. Next step is creating a memory / desire that you place in the bottom of the container, followed by planting your succulent(s); then placing "wish" supporting Ingredients (mine were Lemon Grass, Hibiscus, Roselle, Chrysanthemum, Mallow Flower, and a couple I can't remember how to spell!); then you select magic crystals (mine were Black Lace Agate, Green Aventurine, & Lapis Lazuli); and finally you add decorations. Yep decorations. Important thing is to remember to select a container that will fit all that. I love it when a business creates opportunities to come away with more than satisfying your thirst, fixing your car, supplying you with groceries or cooking your dinner. I love it when you come away with a memory that will be with you longer than next week. A memory that you will share with friends . . . at least until their next birthday.
