Four stars for super awesome dining view into the Masoala exhibit at the Zurich Zoo.
I tell my friends with children I will go to the zoo with them to spend a day with them and their kids. The real truth is, I suspect deep down inside all I really want to do is come see the Masoala exhibit and eat at the Masoala restaurant, which has a super awesome full view into the Masoala hall! Oh and also spend time with my friends' kids. Yeah right. ;-)
I am not even going to get into too many details of the food. How gourmet do you expect food to be served in a zoo facing the Masoala hall? You know if the food looks or smells too insanely good then the animals will go nuts! They serve limited Swiss food (schnitzel) plus lots of "fast food" for kids like nuggets, hot dogs and fries; but also boasts an expensive salad bar charged by weight. I normally get a soup and fries, sometimes a hot food item like pasta bolognese and then just marvel at the sight into the Masoala hall. I sometimes don't even notice the children around me(which most of them are generally well behaved) as I am more focused on my friends and of course, the view of the Masoala hall.
It's a clean area and not overly packed unless you decided to time it when everyone will be having lunch (say near 11:30). Don't come to the zoo and then miss eating here. Better yet, come to the zoo just to eat here. It's not only a place for children. read more
