Honestly, zero stars. Very disappointing experience with Crystal. When I said I needed time to think about the consultation fee, Crystal told me, "We are not Walmart" and "If you want to win, you should pay for it." The tone was rude and unprofessional. Comments like that come across as dismissive and disrespectful--not only to me, but to anyone who shops at Walmart. I would expect more respect and professionalism when discussing fees. Crystal called me back, and I expected a professional response or apology. Instead, she denied making the Walmart comment. When I said she did, she accused me of writing the review "for attention." I requested a consultation through Yelp, and the initial message I received was friendly, they said a client coordinator named Crystal would be calling me. When I saw the call coming in from Mason Law Firm, I picked up and said, "Hi hello, yeah hi this is Daisy." Right off the bat, the woman on the phone, who I assumed was Crystal, said in a rude tone, "I'm going to have to call back I'm not going to be recorded." I explained, "I'm sorry your not being recorded that was my answering machine that screens calls." She replied, "oh ok then, so you called mason law firm what do you need help with," and honestly, she didn't even sound like she wanted to be on the phone, her tone stayed rude through the entire conversation. I asked if I could schedule a consultation and how much it would cost. She asked, "what county is your case in," and I said, "it's in Santa Cruz county." She cut me off and said, "yeah we don't wouldn't take your case we are in Sacramento county," again in the rudest way possible. At that point I was just upset by how rude her tone was. I responded with a blunt, stern "ok thank you," and she seemed to notice the shift, she started to change her tone and tried to explain something further, but I had already hung up. I'm very disappointed by this call. I'm in a difficult, urgent search for a lawyer, and having someone respond with this kind of attitude, sounding like she didn't want to talk or help at all, doesn't reflect well on a client coordinator. She wouldn't even let me explain that I live in Sacramento County but the case is open in Santa Cruz County before cutting me off. Even if the answer was that they couldn't take my case, it could have been delivered with basic kindness and professionalism. read more

Rudest most unprofessional office staff! The older woman who answered the phone at the office had a very sharp condescending tone and was unnecessarily and unexpectedly abrasive. She was maybe the rudest human I've encountered in a very long time and I was genuinely taken a back. I scheduled and paid in advance for a consultation with this Law Office with Shannon . I was given a specific time and date, and I waited for the call -- but no one ever contacted me. I tried calling the office multiple times afterward, but they completely ignored me and dodged every attempt I made to get in touch. Despite the fact that they failed to deliver any service, the refund request was never put in. Shannon herself never reached out, never apologized, and showed absolutely no professionalism or accountability. I gave a chance and understand that things happen, but letting me know would have at least been appreciated. To this day I still haven't heard from her. This experience was not only disappointing but incredibly unethical. The way they operate is dishonest and feels like a scam. She contacted me through yelp messaging. I was looking for an attorney handling "civil harassment restraining order appeal". She responded by asking for my phone number then some time later she called and I repeated to her what kind of lawyer I was looking for. She asked for my full name and the full name of the other party. After a very brief description of the case ( a few sentences) she said I needed to hire an appeal attorney and so far she had not heard anything for the basis of an appeal. I asked her why she couldn't tell me she did not handle appeals when she asked for my phone number in the yelp messaging or at the very beginning of our conversation when she asked for my name, she answered because she wanted to make sure there was no conflict in representing the both sides. Well if you don't take these cases anyway why would you want to check for conflicts? The only logical answer is that she does handle appeals, she was interested in my case but after hearing my name, she started racial-profiling and her sense of prejudice, bias and animosity kicked in. I'm glad that she's still a lawyer and not a judge because another woman with the same personal deficit, dementia and prejudice actually judged the case that I'm trying to appeal. That judge at least heard part of my case, this one ruled against me without hearing the case at all when she said she had not heard anything for the basis of an appeal. read more

I hired this firm to represent me in my divorce proceedings based on the comments here on Yelp, many of which noted their scrupulous attention to detail, especially regarding billing, and ethics. I was glad I did. They were very honest and provided detailed weekly invoices that were aboveboard and accurate. After filing, I reconciled with my spouse, but the County had already received my paperwork and had filed my case. This caused a long interim period to get my refund (the wheels of justice grind slowly, folks!) and after a few weeks Shannon called me and told me she would send me a check for my refund and that we could work out the final balance after it cleared the County's machinery. That was something I suspect most law firms wouldn't do. Anyways, I hope to never have to hire them again, but if you need to retain their services, you should definitely consider Mason Law.
