I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Masonville General Store. I have a disability and a handicapped plate, and because of my bad leg, instead of parking parallel on the other side of the road, I turned around parked parallel in front of the store. The steps were old steps and very steep so I had to be careful coming up them. While shopping, I was told I needed to move my car. I explained my mobility issues, the steps were tough for me, and that I wouldn't be long (no one else was in the store, nor stopped) but no grace and was told again to reposition it immediately. There was ample room behind me for another car. After moving my car, I came back in and politely suggested they mark parking spots so people know where to park to their satisfaction. The woman working was extremely rude, telling me that she expects people to have common sense". There was absolutely no reason to speak to a customer this way--especially one trying to shop local and support their business. I had items in my hand ready to buy, but after how I was treated, I left without making a purchase. To add to the frustration, she rudely told me they so don't accept credit cards, no sign that I saw to alert a customer before they come in the store. She did not offer options (e.g. check). I will never return to Masonville General Store. I was disgusted by the attitude toward a paying customer, especially one with a disability. read more

Wow. So I thought the Lucky Dog Store in Hamden, NY was the coolest old General Store I'd ever seen...until I came here. This general store is in beautiful condition and has an even wider variety of items for sale. The organic groceries, sure, but also fun stationery type items and crafts and so much more! I am fortunate to be able to call the Upper Delaware system my home in the summer and I must have passed MGS 100 times going to and fro.I finally stopped a few weeks ago simply looking to get a bottle of water for the dog. O-M-G; it was like coming up to an oasis you no idea was there. The surprise made the experience even better! Well, my bottle of water turned into an overfilled basket of earth-friendly supplies (like recycled aluminum foil and coffee filters), organic staples (like chocolate granola, pickles, and bread), and yummy, nostalgic treats like rock candy from "behind the counter" and diet black cherry Boylan pop! In addition to the foods there are lots of thoughtful household goods and even some "off line" games and activities that some of you will remember or wish you did. Did I mention the health book section and the great brewed coffee? I could go on but as I told Kendall, MGS has simply become part of the weekly shopping list. Favorite products include Mestemachen bread, Bubbies pickles, spinach and feta popovers, and the Katz gluten free chocolate rugelech. And the cherry on top? An extraordinary shop for all. Kendal is a very knowledgeable and impeccable person. My grandchildren were immediately drawn to working on a puzzle that was placed in the very coziness of streamlining sunlight. There is an amazingly well selected collection of beautifully crafted cold drinks. There is such a vast amount to say about this beautiful place. A feast for the eyes, mind, body, and spirit. The best coffee ever!! I am driving over there tomorrow and I will ask Kendal what kind of coffee she is brewing. Love, Love, Love this place. read more

Perfect place if you are looking for locally produced, organic, and natural products. Things we picked up here for part of a perfect picnic: -bottle of Knudsen's pear spritzer -herbed goat cheese from a local farm -fresh baguette -organic apples -organic vegetarian egg rolls It is not where most people will go for major grocery shopping trips; but it is a charming little store with some great specialty items. (Our next shopping trip there must include Blue Diamond's pecan nut thins.) The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, especially the owner Kendall. Kendal has done a wonderful job in re-creating the store so many of us have so many fond memories. The first problem I had here occurred because I do not often carry cash. She does not accept debit cards. So she will tell you to go to the nearby gas station to get cash. The owner was noticeably annoyed several times that I sat in the cafe With The coffee I bought to access Wifi. I had been buying lots of stuff supporting her business. The owner was so unfriendly the last time I was there she told me I had to leave. Lots of cool stuff in her store but be warned she can be a bitch. read more

When I first stopped here, I only had a debit card with me....argh! I returned the next day with my checkbook and enough time to wander around to my heart's content. This is a 30+ mile drive for me, one way, and worth it! I found tons of my favorite things and many new items to add to my favorites list. I love this store. Kendall is helpful and knowledgable. One of my frequent "special" stops. Spent a lot of money in there, brought guests there for a must see. Went in today after a scenic drive with my wife and grandaughters to end the drive with some picnic supplies from there and was told by the owner that the facilities were no longer available to the public. I was ready to drop a hundred dollar bill, but walked right out and drove home. No longer going there. It was not the reason for my being there, it was how rudely put that turned me off. I will do my business elsewhere from now on. I have historically spent between 200 to 500 dollars a year there. I am immediately turned off by things like this. Sorry for the bad review. stopped there on day in June for a soda & walked out with the best Maple Syrup on the planet. My wife & I are from Texas and visit that area (Walton) usually in the summer to get away from the Texas heat. Passing this little store brought us back to a time that we remember as "The Good Old Days" The lady that helped us was very nice and explained that this store was there to serve the community.
