We love the tranquility room. It is where you sit before your massage. The room is dimly lit, has relaxing music, comfortable chairs, and a television that plays relaxing videos like sunsets, mountains, and underwater scenes. I have also had facials at Massage Envy and they are also very relaxing and leave my skin feeling dewy and hydrated. They also sell all the products that they use for their facials. The location also offers stretching sessions, maternity massage, and other self-care services. READ THE FINE PRINT. I booked an appointment online for $65, but was told it would be $115 when I arrived in person. This was after I'd driven 20 minutes to make it to the appointment. $65 is the introductory rate, which I was told is spelled out in the fine print below the online price. The only way for me to get the introductory rate would be to sign up for their annual membership. I felt as if this franchise waited for me to arrive in person, minutes before my appointment, to upsell me. I was so incredibly insulted and furious that I cancelled the appointment. Update: Received a call from Nancy a manager at Massage Envy because I had filled out a survey as well as this review. She was very nice and offered to set me up with a free session as well as enhancements to make up for my poor experience. I asked her to refund the session to the friend who gifted it to me and she said she would. She seemed genuinely interested in my feedback so this went from one star to 3. --- So this actually my second time at this location. The first time my deep tissue was super deep and I was sore for days. But I asked for a deeper pressure so I let it go. This time was even worse. A friend and I booked together, she was gifting me one of her massages. The counter staff mixed us up and gave me aromatherapy which I don't like and didn't give it to my friend who requested it. We were the first appointments of the day but my massage didn't start until 10 after the hour and ended 5 minutes til the next hour so I only got a 45 minute massage instead of 60. Things started off odd with the aromatherapy because I didn't like it. Here's where it gets even worse. The therapist started off doing an overall rub on my back then went to work on my right side for a good long time. I thought it was a lot of time. Then she moved on to my leg, my other leg and then had me roll over. Wait, what? She didn't do the entire left side of my back. Nor did she address the specific areas we spoke about in the beginning, namely my lower back. My lower back is the reason I get massages. So I waited for my friend and we checked out and they took the aromatherapy off the bill. I didn't say anything because I'm not confrontational but I certainly won't be back. This appointment was made for my wife as a gift for her 71st birthday. I bought a $60 gift card and had paid my credit card before she made the appointment. When she arrived, everyone was wearing masks, as was she, but when she went for her massage, after lying down with her face in the donut hole wearing the mask, she found it impossible to breathe comfortably. Since she has had both vaccines, she asked the masseuse (Alexandria) if she was vaccinated as well, so that they both could remove their masks, according to the CDC protocol. My wife was stunned that the masseuse had not been vaccinated, and it made her very uncomfortable that someone who might be carrying the virus was coming in close contact with her. Since the object of a massage is to provide a relaxed, comfortable experience, she decided this could only be accomplished with someone who cared enough about their clients to have received the vaccine as well. She came back to the desk and told them her dilemma. They refused to make another appointment with someone who was vaccinated that she could feel more comfortable with, so the only recourse left was to ask for my money back, which she did. She was told that gift cards are not refunded, so I'm just out $60?!!! This should not be an acceptable business practice, where you get NOTHING for your money. I'm giving 4-stars because my therapist, Susan, is amazing. Would take a star away if not. The staff is generally nice but things seem slightly unorganized. I feel like there needs to be better communication between staff and between staff and customer. I like that they have the "zen" waiting room (or whatever they call it lol) and that they offer you tea or water while you wait. Again, Susan is incredible and always makes me feel comfortable. I think this location is still sort of new and hopefully it comes to be a little more organize. Be warned, if you miss or cancel your appointment within an hour, you will get charged full price still. Must give at least 24-hour notice and if less than that, will get charged half price up until an hour before. read more

I went for my first professional massage ever about 10 days ago. Hubs had given me gift cards for our anniversary back in December, and I finally got up the courage to try a massage. I booked it with Amy. I thought she was very nice. She made me very comfortable and I thought she explained things very well. My consult with her resulted in a massage that focused on my specific problem areas, and during the massage when it came up that I have carpal tunnel she made it a point to focus on my forearms and hands as well. The room was nice, the music was low and relaxing and I enjoyed that the table was warm. I also appreciated how concerned they are for clients privacy. When I checked out I found that you can put gratuity on your gift card as well which worked out very well for me. The reason I took a star away was reception. The girl working was very cold and I did not feel welcomed by her at all. I did not like her attempt to sell me a membership on my way out either. She really should find a job outside of customer service. If they could improve their front desk customer service they'd be doing themselves a favor. I know I didn't book this appointment because it was on a Wednesday and my children have early day on Wednesdays and I am a single parent who's the only one that can go and pick them up on that day. I called to speak to the manager a week ago because I want to be reimbursed my massage credit for that month. It's been a week and the manager still hasn't called me back. Worst experience ever at this location, not worth my time, not worth my money. I have been going to Pitcho at The Altamonte Massage Envy for several years. I have fibromyalgia, frequent headaches and some other specific issues so I'm especially grateful that he not only gives a wonderful massage in general but he has a deep understanding of anatomy and really takes the time to get to know each person's individual needs and customizes his technique every time to each individual's issues and needs at that time. I've referred several friends to him and to massage envy in general they all go to there on a regular basis now. I also saw Matt for quite awhile the past few years while Pitcho was out of the country and he also did a really good job. In addition to the great massage services the whole front desk crew and management are always very pleasant, polite and accommodating at the Altamonte location. They always get right back to and try hard to accommodate your schedule. If you're looking for a relaxing massage you can sleep through, don't ask him for deep-tissue. His deep-tissue massages are basically no pain, no gain. I went in because my back injury from a car accident was causing me lots of pain as well as reoccurring tension headaches. OMG - I would have told him anything to get him to ease up. I have tried massage envy in the past for myself, but I find their massages more expensive than using my insurance. However, they do great massage work. I am not an expert by any means but I've had pricey massages before and have never really been as satisfied as I expected; considering that I'm happy when my cat kneads on my back or I cram my rhomboids against the corner of a wall and feel mildly contented, that's pretty lame. I definitely loved my massage today, so much so that I signed up for the year. I requested medium to deep and I really felt it for once. One reviewer did not like the puritanical method of covering the parts not in use, but most of us are not comfortable in all our glory, especially for an hour, and I think that's just a consideration they've taken into account - I was fine with that as it doesn't affect anything and if you really feel the need to be uncovered I guess you could always ask. I like that they ask you what you'd like, what you don't like and where you're trouble spots are. 4/27/12: I would like to update this and say that I have received one mediocre and another lousy massage BUT! the rest were really wonderful. Liz is great and if you want someone who knows how to get knots out and work just the right spots, Sheena is the best. I've been going to this Massage Envy for years and the main reason: Rose. Rose is the best therapist hands down. I have some serious back/shoulder issues, due from sports injuries and working on a computer ALL day. Because of this, the pain can be so uncomfortable. At times, my shoulder gets numb and tingly. For the longest time I couldn't find a way to get rid of it and nothing seemed to help. Rose helped me out 6 years ago and I've been going back to her since!
