I expected a nice massage and that's what I got with Naomi. She has a firm pressure but tailors the experience to you if you want it to be more relaxing (like I did). The front desk seems to always be busy and booking with your specific therapist can be a pain because so many people book weeks and months in advance. It's in a convenient spot with lots of parking but that also means outside noise seeps in. All in all I would say it's a good place for a massage especially if there is a holiday sale going on and you can stack it with a first-time offer. read more

I haven't even been to my appointment and already so disappointed, I booked online for a prenatal massage with 2 add ons. Someone with a Texas number called me about 30 minutes ago and states I'm just booked for a regular massage. I say no that it's a prenatal massage that has 2 specific add ons. Apparently their booking system didn't record that. Yay me! This person proceeds to tell me that the person I choose to book with doesn't do prenatal massages, I wasn't given a choice to choose anyone there was one one person to select for the day I was choosing, then proceeds to tell me that I'd have to wait until Friday after my original selected day and time so that I can have a prenatal massage. Again yay me! Also I would have to do this in the evening now instead of the morning, like I didn't select a morning appointment for a reason. I finally agreed to this Friday appointment and this person tried to up-sale on some freaking foot scrub after I've already stated several times that I was frustrated, why the heck would you try to up-sale me on more services? Now I'm pregnant, hormonal, and just want to cry. Then when the person tries to book the dang appointment they tell me I can't have lavender as my aromatherapy due to it being a prenatal services. What's the point of me doing this anymore but I agreed. I will definitely be calling tomorrow and canceling. I don't care if I have to wait more time to get this massage from somewhere else. Well I finally went to try this place out. The massage was good to ok. I wasn't happy getting a 50 minute massage when I paid for a 60 minute massage. They said oh well we use up 5 minutes to let you undress and another 5 to dress. Well there's more. I paid an extra $15 for a special foot treatment. Well it was basically a sugar scrub n he rubbed my feet for 10 seconds. And that was counted In My 50 minutes :| That's a gimmick to me. So I paid more $ for them to cut my reg 60 min, I mean my 50 min. massage to get cheated another 5-6 min. Additional pay should be (added) additional time. I did get there 12 minutes early but Chris didn't call me into my room til 4:01 Started the 4:06 he was done 4:56 including the foot sugar scrub. He didn't massage my scalp n I had to ask him to do the final rub n pull/stretch my neck. He said ok he had a minute. Not happy. Oh my word. What an EXPERIENCE! I went in on 8/22/23- first massage ever. I was extremely nervous not knowing how it would go or how I would feel having a male masseuse. And I was nervous after reading the reviews posted here. My nerves were immediately calmed as I walked in by the upbeat and friendly vibe from the front office gem Mallorie. She made me feel so safe by going over all the ways they value your consent, comfort, and boundaries. My masseuse Joey also provided a very safe space, continuously checking in on me, asking me questions about my comfort regarding heat & pressure - plus preformed an amazing massage and exfoliating foot treatment. I walked out feeling like a new woman. At the end Mallorie went through all the benefits and programs I could join and was incredibly informative and kind. She also informed me they recently hired new management, and they must be doing a good job after the experience I had. Clean, comfortable, and worked out wonderfully for me. Go! I've been scheduling 90 min deep tissue sessions regularly with Chris for nearly a year. He's an excellent massage therapist is is able to very effectively work on trouble spots on my shoulders, back and neck. I always leave feeling relief from any discomfort and pain. Don't waste your time! You have to book 4-6 weeks out because they don't have enough staff. If you need to reschedule, you then have to wait another 4-6 weeks. They have no problem taking my monthly payment and they say "but it carries over". Who cares, I'm not wanting a year supply of unused services. The app/online never works, they don't return phone calls and 2/3 services I did receive weren't great. I called 25th they said oh manager will call you no later than 72 hours. No call back, 8 days later I call again. They say oh yea it says in the notes we should of called. I'll add another note for them to call you. It's now 2 days alter no call. I submitted a form online and sent an email, still no manager has called. But again, they continue to withdraw money from my account. Horrible business! read more

Place seems clean and the people seem friendly. However, I just got done with a prenatal massage with Naomi & I booked an hr session. They told me up front they took 5 mins to undress & another 5 to dress up which was fine with me. I took a video after I undressed at 10:40.. she probably started no later than 10:45.. I was done by 11:20 as I took another video once I was done. A 50 min session turned into a 35mins. I def won't come here again and if I do I'll def speak up abt time. read more

Very similar complaint as many of the older reviews They trick you into signing up for a year commitment without explaining what you are signing up for. All of a sudden you start seeing monthly charges and you go what??? Then when you call up they say no you can't cancel. Very misleading and very bad business practice. Also very stupid. The amount of potential business and good will they have lost by being "greedy". Is huge!!! The service is great. No complaints there. To the owners- The fact that you have so many 1 star reviews remaining shows that you are not resolving this issue satisfactorily with people. Change your policies. You are not only losing lots of future potential business with the bad reviews. You are also losing current customers who were otherwise happy. You need to make all your customers happy. You have failed. Any potential profit you think you are making by locking people into a 1 year contract is dwarfed by the lost business from pissing people off. You need to just abandon this program and more directly contact these 1 star review folks to make them happy and get them to reconsider their bad reviews. I've been to many massage places in Bakersfield. This is by far the best! When I signed up Madisyn helped me through the entire process. Super quick and easy. Joey was my massage therapist. I was initially skeptical because he was a guy, but I was so surprised when he tucked under and made everything so comfortable. It's not easy to make me feel comfortable. This place is hit or miss. It's weird that the sitting room faces the parking lot which does not make it relaxing at all. I have had 3 massages from women here and they all sucked. The only time I feel like anything has made a difference is when I see Rick. He's worth the membership simply because I'll feel worked over and like I can move after. He's great with deep tissue. If you like alcohol, talk to him about that and you're golden. I like that they no longer use Murad for facials. Front office girls are nice, super busy, and will do their best to accommodate you. Trying to cancel any membership with this location has taken me and it's still taking me more than a year and a half yet I still get billed even though I call. Unable to call other branches as they are not affiliated with each other I moved out of the state and now I have 21 credits that I have to use and will not be refunded. In my eyes this is BS as they should've taken care of the cancellation when my wife try to cancel it a year and a half ago and continues to try to cancel it as I get billed every month. In my eyes, there should be a refund policy in the store should be held accountable for their incompetence of able to do a cancellation properly and why I have to pay further in ability to perform their daily jobs. So, I just left the Massage Envy on Ming Ave. had a great massage with Maria. This was my 2nd session with her and my second massage since before covid. I purchase gift cards for my family for Christmas and birthdays during the year and my daughter and I have been members pre covid and had planned to rejoin in the future, but that will not be the case now. When I went to pay for my $130.00 massage I gave them my promo gift card I received when I purchased my Christmas gift cards last year and to my dismay I was told it had expired in March. Mind you I had called and was told it was valid if it didn't have an expiration date which it didn't. The gal at the counter called the manager to hopefully resolve the issue to NO avail. I am not by any means able to afford $130.00 massage without planning into my budget so this was a stressful situation after a most relaxing massage. Wish I could leave no stars. Management is awesome but unfortunately they can only do so much. The massages aren't very good and there is no wiggle room to get out of the yearly contract even when you are dissatisfied with the services. Don't bother calling corporate cause they just put you on the back burner took them a week and half to get back to me. I ended up talking to Tesa the district manager who apparently is the owner cause she said I couldn't speak with any higher ups. I never once asked for my money back just the permission to transfer all of them to different people, but now dealing with all of this I should start asking for my money back since no one is doing their job besides the manager. read more

Their massages are average and 10-15 minutes of it is changing clothes and waiting. There are some good things to say about this place - I was surprised to see all the one star reviews. Front staff are friendly and very eager. There is heavy emphasis on becoming a member which allows you a 60 min massage once a month as long as you pay a $60 fee for a year's commitment. Then additional discounted massages should you choose to go more often. Hmm... nothing I had every heard of before. Nor had I heard of a rule where say, a 60 min massage is 50 as they charge you 5 min before and after for changing? Right there, this whole place is lost on me. I would recommend to others to try at least once though as I had a really good, deep tissue massage at a lower intro price. My massage was cut short though by several minutes (I did a 90 min) and this is most annoying. As was the bright spotlight in the ceiling when face up. (they need to fix this!) The seating area in the back is cute with water and tea and the washroom is spotless. I love the location in the Marketplace. I hope this place does well but returning as a "guest" after reviewing the price list would just be too costly for us. read more

Absolute worst experience. I was recommended this location to book a massage. I called a week ago and was helped by a very friendly girl and she helped me book an appointment and asked for my credit card. She assured me I wouldn't be charged anything, never mentioning cancellation fees of any kind. It was my first time so I knew nothing of this company and assumed their employee had informed me of everything I needed to know when booking my first appointment. I work a very high stress job and finally got my voicemails the day of my appt. I was called last night and the day of my appointment but couldn't make it in and called back. I was then informed that I would be charged 50% of the service but no one had told me that when I had originally been booked! And I let the receptionist know hey it's my first time, no one told me when I booked that there would be fees if not I would have never put my card down, your making me feel like a hostage because regardless if I don't agree with I will be charged regardless against my will when it was an error on the employees side for not informing me. I didn't want to argue with her and didn't even get to speak to a manager and was charged. Worst experience ever and it didn't even make me want to reschedule an appointment. I booked this appointment to relax and this experience if anything made me more stressed. I don't recommend this location at all because they don't explain their fees or prices or anything on the phone. It was unfair experience and I received no apology not once over the phone, I got a weak explanation that everyone is trained to tell me about the fees. read more

Even though they had my purchases on file they would not replace the item without the original receipt. I have canceled my membership. Beware of buying products there. Five stars for Jessica! The absolute BEST facial I've ever had. She took her time and explained what she was doing and why she was doing it. She explained issues with my skin but didn't push products. I did ask for a recommendation for a cleanser and I'm happy with my purchase. The facial itself was amazing and my skin felt great for several days. I'm sure I'll be going back. My only issue is price. The introduction rate is reasonable but the regular rate is really pricey. I got my membership in Miami and only got to use it twice in their location there. I was scared when i moved to California to find out if keeping my monthly membership was worth it but I couldn't be any happier to have kept it! I am extremely happy with Rick and Jessica. Rick is my go to Massage Therapist and Jessica is my preferred esthetician. They're both always very nice and helpful. My skin has improved 100% i never had breakouts but now I'm able to go days without makeup and have radiant skin! I always get all the products from Murad Jessica recommends because her suggestions are always on point. Rick uses deep pressure and always takes off all accumulated knots in my back!
