This business is not taking the health and safety of the patrons seriously and lying to the people who go there about why they cannot answer their questions about their safety. When asked if therapists are vaccinated, since the patrons are required to be vaccinated- the answer this facility gives us- "we cannot tell you as that is a HIPAA violation." This is the most moronic answer. HIPAA is a law that protects a patient from their DOCTOR disclosing anything related to their medical conditions or medical privacy. HIPAA HAS nothing to do with an employer who is in a personal service industry from disclosing to the public who is putting themselves at risk from being in a small room with a massage therapist for an hour, or more, who is possibly unvaccinated! The massages are hit or miss. I've had some amazing ones and some really weak ones. But the massage therapists are all very nice. The problem with this location is that it is poorly managed and it shows. The desk workers are poorly trained and sometimes rude. I often leave feeling frustrated or annoyed, probably not the feeling one is looking for after getting a massage. I recently decided to cancel my membership. Honestly, the place feels like a scam. Updated: To the poor soul who has to respond to the yelp complaints: Links are not clickable so I recommend replacing the bitly link with something easier to remember and type into a browser. Attentive to my concerns and followed directions. Her massage was good. While the majority of masseuses give you the full hour massage, I only got 50 min which was annoying. The staff at this location were a little less efficient than what I'm used to at various massage envys. For this, one less star. I'm a member and had previously signed up for a membership in order to get massages for a discounted rate. You can't beat how clean, convenient and professional Message Envy massages are. When you arrive, they take your temperature and have you sign a COVID release form with a sanitized pen. You are required to wear a mask during your massage, and the massage therapist does as well. The massage was great! I had Miriam, I recommend her, she was great. Positives were great massage, plenty of parking, they are open nights/weekends, and there's lots of availability so you don't have to wait long to get an appointment. Only negatives were, I was thinking about becoming a member and no one ever told me about membership. I had a $75 gift card so I chose the 1.5 hour massage ($74.99 introductory price). I treat myself to a massage every 2-3 months, and I was excited to try Massage Envy. For the time frame and the suggested price, I was expecting more. My massage therapist was very friendly and sweet. She first asked about my problem areas. She did a full body Swedish massage. I had pain in my shoulders and neck, which I wish she could have spent more time on. Once the massage was done, I didn't feel as relaxed and felt l like I needed more time. I've had cheaper massages elsewhere for an hour that felt more effective. Although she mentioned the areas she noticed I had tension, she did not mention any recommendations. I like that they have their own parking lot. Making an appointment over the phone was easy. The private rooms were nice and clean. I declined joining their membership program since my experience was just okay. They mentioned non-members pay more than the prices listed. I'm not sure I would rush to return unless I have another gift card. read more

I am one of the customers who would not recommend to take Massage Envy membership or refer a friend. I really had a terrible experience. A year or little over a year, I opted 6 months membership. During the contract, I choose to cancel the membership after 6 months. Guess what, they keep charging my bank after 6 months, which I am not aware of. One day, I noticed in my account and called them. They said I should have called Massage Envy to cancel. I accumulate unused sessions. I canceled my membership and I had a month or so to use those. How can I opt to use so many in a month? They are expensive. I looked over the web to find the same issue many other customers as well. I called the manager to verify the same and she said it's their mistake that the computer automatically kept charging my bank. I had 7 sessions unused. She refunded 3 and 3 to use. I've never had a "therapeutic" massage before so this is an amateurs review. For starters, I thoroughly enjoyed the customer service. Everyone seemed caring, attentive and helpful. They wanted to know where I felt pain or discomfort and kept note of my answers. My masseuse was Fred. He asked me to repeat my answers for his own benefit which was fine. I told him I wanted medium pressure and to focus on my shoulders. The pressure was perfect. He focused on my shoulder and tried to work out all of the knots. I'm only used to relaxing massages so this massage was more uncomfortable than I'm used to. He bent my arms awkwardly and dug into my muscles at various angles. He stretched my neck and once my shoulder was warm and numb I asked him to move onto other area. I felt like the massage wasn't too short which is unusual because usually the massage is over before I want it to be. Probably because I wasn't feeling as relaxed during this one. He informed me to drink a lot of water to flush out the toxins and bid me farewell. Overall, I thought the massage was good for the introductory price ($49 and giftcard $49) I used. I basically only paid tip which made the massage worth it. As a non-member, $99 a pop is insane. Even a members price at $60 a month for 1 massage or facial is a stretch when there are so many groupons and living social and etc deals online. The remainder of my day was actually a bit painful. My shoulder was in discomfort till the next day which kind of sucked but perhaps a therapeutic massage does that? I'm no expert. I did enjoy the customer service and I can see the value behind their system for someone who doesn't have the time to manage their own schedules and look for better deals, so I will say this spot is 3 star worthy, but I'll definitely opt for a regular massage someplace else next time. read more

The massage I received was pretty good. I do not recall the name of the therapist but she had a short bob with bangs and was very effective in working out a lot of the kinks in my neck and shoulders. She was thorough and had the level of firmness that I desired (I have a pretty high pain tolerance and definitely felt this one!). For the massage itself I would probably rate the therapist 4-5 stars. The two star review is due to how Massage Envy handled a miscommunication on their end. A friend who is a member there had originally been told on the phone when booking our appointments that only a 90-minute massage would be available for me while she was able to book a 60-minute massage for herself. When we arrived at the front desk, I asked if it would be possible to do the 60-minute massage instead as I did not want the extra half hour since I was with a group of people all getting only hour-long massages. The front desk said it would not be a problem and the therapist was standing nearby inside the hall with her iPad while this was all going down. I was in the midst of having my left side massaged after having the right side done, when someone came by to knock on the door. The therapist ignored it at first until another loud knock several minutes later. The therapist then came back and said that the front desk had failed to update the 90 minute massage to 60 minutes on her iPad so that we would have to abruptly stop since we were now past the hour. This was in the middle of having a deep massage on my left side which was then neglected and not rolled out. The therapist left me alone right then and there to get dressed and go outside. At the front desk, my service + tip had already been taken care of by my husband who was part of the group and had finished his massage much earlier. I did mention to the front that it was extremely abrupt and disorienting to have the massage interrupted like that due to a technical/communication error on their end. They halfheartedly said they were sorry about that but did not seem to really care or understand how this negatively impacted what had been a pretty good experience until then. This was my first time going to Massage Envy and I would have considered signing up for a membership based off of the merit of the actual massage. I like the massages, but I don't really know if I like the system. I think the massage Therapists (Glen, Brian, Mo) that I have had are great at Beverly Hills and the rooms are very clean and well maintained. I just don't know if I like the system that you are charged 59.00 each month and you have to do it for a year. You can also freeze your account at anytime during your entire membership for 6 months max. For 11months of my year, I have 6 extra massages left. I had to freeze my account today because I think it is ridiculously high and I don't want to get stuck into paying for more massages then I need. Also, you can give away your massages.... AT a price. It isn't completely free. When I signed up I thought it was free to give away extra massages or share. But, there is a $10 dollars fee. I don't get the tipping either. I am charged 59.00 every month on my credit card for an hour massage. But, when you finish your massage the tipping at the front desks asks for a minimum of $15 which is 15%according to Massage Envy. I am not that great at math, but $15 dollars is a 25% tip. A 15% tip is $8.85. Am I doing my math wrong or missing something? Also, I think the massages are only 45 minutes, with the time to get dressed, undressed, etc. I do prefer Beverly Hills over the Glendale location in L.A. read more

I purchased a gift certificate for a client, who went for a 1-hour massage with a male masseuse on Monday evening August 1st. He did not have a good experience, the massage ended earlier than 1 hour, the masseuse did not have a good technique and had long nails which made the massage uncomfortable, and the ac vent was blowing very cold air. This was a very disappointing gift to a client I was trying to impress, I spoke with someone at massage envy and explained my situation, and all they can offer was an extra add-on for another massage, but why would I suggest that to someone who had a bad experience, I would rather accept a facial or gift certificate to purchase skin care products. I had the most amazing 90 minute massage last night by Calvin! I am very active in the gym, training at least 5-6 days a week, while trying to gain 7 MORE pounds of muscle. With that being said I am very tight and sore majority of the time! Calvin is very skilled with deep tissue and was able to release the pain in my neck, lats, back, hamstrings omg all over! I slept like a baby and woke up so refreshed this morning I couldn't help but to write this review (literally had to force myself to sleep an extra hour because I feel so revived and energized)! He definitely gained a new client out of me because I invest in my health and wellness more than anything! After a bad experience I had, I have been trying to contact anyone for several weeks to end my membership and still haven't been able to do so. I have called and sent multiple emails but they always say I need to speak to the manager (who is never there apparently). I already filled a membership cancellation form and sent a doctor's note, but still no response. I am afraid I will be charged another month when I haven't received any service for the last two months. Truly, the "good" massage is not worth the cost of all this mess. I cannot/will not go to this location anymore, after about a year of frustration. Why? 1. They never answer their phone, so that I can actually book a massage. Fundamental issue. 2. If they do return your call...it's days later. 3. Front desk staff are not trained well and lack much knowledge in massage therapy. They're also usually pretty disorganized. 4. I just happen to be in the area and had some time to spare. I Had a horrible experience at a near by location with a staff member that could care less. Seeing how I still needed a massage to relax I called this location and they were able to get me in. As soon as I arrived to the waiting room Robert greeted me. His energy was pure and kind. He smiled and asked what areas I wanted to work on. I told him to feel the tension and go from there. Hands down this massage was amazing. One by one he got rid of my knots. All while making me feel comfortable and relaxed. I love deep pressure and he had the best balance. Not too strong but strong enough. It makes such a difference when your therapist genuinely likes what they do. And to think I almost cancelled due to a rude employee at a close by location. If you're looking to really smooth out those knots Robert is your man. I'm Not even close by but I'll definitely be back. I'd also like to add that all the front desk staff was great. Nothing but smiles. They were even kind enough to let me Know the president was in town and the streets would be blocked. This visit made my day. This place has the worst customer service. I've been a member for almost 2 years and each month, they never failed to take the money out of my account for my membership fees. And of course, if anything ever prevented them for getting their money, they did not hesitate to harass every single day. I decided to cut ties after the price increase and I made it a point to make sure I would not be charged for the next month, especially because I was canceling my membership a month in advance. I was told I would not be charged. Sure enough, I was charged for the month I was no longer a member. I must've called at least 6 times, once or twice each week trying to get a refund. Each girl told me "ok we'll refund you the money," but the money never went back to my account. I had to call several times before I actually saw the money go back to my account. When I asked the person on the other end, Destiny something or other, why the other girls said they'd refund me my money and didn't actually do it, she said they probably weren't authorized. This has to be the worst massage envy I have ever encountered. I sent in a cancellation agreement that clearly states that the effective date is 10 days from processing the cancellation. Then it goes onto say that 60 days from the end of those 10 days is when accrued hours terminate, which gives me 70 days from when I submit my cancellation to use the accrued hours. The lady that I called to go over this language in their very own cancellation agreement was a total jerk and kept cutting me off and willing to listen to what I was saying about the language in their cancellation agreement. Even after reading it multiple times to her she still could not understand the meaning of those words. It was absolutely mind numbing and ridiculous. You would think that massage envy would actually hire people who know how to read their own agreements or train people to read it properly. Honestly, the worst customer service ever. read more

I am giving Massage Envy Beverly Hills 1 star because their "policy" sucks!!!!! I was massaged here by Joey (He is AMAZING!!!) He had a wonderful and loving touch with firm pressure where needed and more gentle pressure where needed. When I first visited Massage Envy, the front desk receptionist Rebecca (I think) encouraged my partner and me to sign up for a membership. We were really hesitant to sign up but she kept pushing us and so we caved. Biggest regret of my life. I ABSOLUTELY despise Massage Envy now. At the time we signed up, although we hesitated, we thought, how can we go wrong with monthly massages? Until, 2 months into our membership, my partner was diagnosed with an illness that tied up all of our finances in medical bills. I called Massage Envy (and talked with Rebecca again) to explain the situation and cancel and they flat out denied me. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was no manager available and they would call me back the next day when the manager was in. Sorry...what retail establishment doesn't have a manager on duty at ALL TIMES???? One week and no phone call later, I called back. I don't remember who I spoke with but she said she was the manager and that the most they could do was put our accounts on a freeze, therefore, not charging us, for a 3 month period. I explained that my partner's illness is permanent and we would not be able to maintain the membership at all and she said that I would have to talk to the OWNER about whether he'd make an exception for us to cancel our membership. I was told he'd be calling me within 3 days and I never got a call back. I tried calling back about a week or so later and was again told that the owner would have to call me. It's been over 2 years....no phone call. Needless to say, we long since cancelled our bank account that was tied to the membership and will NEVER go back to their customer UNfriendly establishment even if it were the last massage place on earth. Massage Envy....SHAME ON YOU!!!! I have told and continue to tell EVERY SINGLE PERSON I KNOW how AWFUL you are and not to patronize your massage parlor. Okay so it REALLY MATTERS on who your masseuse is!! The more I go and get different people, the more I realize how precious it is to ONLY get Jayen to massage me. Every other person literally has been 0% and he is the only one that can understand how to massage correctly at 100%. I can't believe there's such a huge difference! My husband and I wanted to get a couples massage for the very first time during their Valentines' day special. First off, I got a call to confirm that I was only getting a 1 hour massage while my husband got a 1.5 hour massage. Huh? Why in the world would we have different times for a couples massage? After I cleared up that matter, we had to clear it up again when I checked in. They finally gave me a gift, which is not that great actually, and then both of our masseurs totally did NOT to the free upgraded add on features (foot salt scrub for me and heated stone massage something for him.) After I brought it up at check out, they were like "oh no..." But ?? What can we do at that point? My husband is not a member and won't be able to come back for it. Since Jayen was not available for the Valentine's day special, I told them I was nervous about letting anyone else giving me my prenatal. They assured me that John was one of their most seasoned masseurs so that's who I had. Uhh really? He had really hairy forearms which made it gross when he used them for massaging. He barely used ANY oil/lotion so I felt like I was getting indian burns the whole time. He spent 25 minutes on one side and the other hour the other side and I can tell he was running out of things to do. At some point, he squeezed each of my toes for like 30 seconds as the "massage." Even after I told him that I'd like more work done on my sore legs, he barely spent any time on that and spent like 15 minutes grinding the knots out of my neck and bottom scalp, which was painful and not relaxing at all. I hate it when they ask you what you'd like to concentration on and then totally ignore your request and just do whatever they want. Why ask?? I have gotten about 4-5 prenatal massages from men at Massage Envy and I think I am not convinced that unless they are Jayen, they all suck at prenatal massages. They are just too ROUGH and don't know how to handle a fragile woman's body and drape well. John was way too rough and I don't know if it's just me, but pregnant women don't like to be "jiggled" with knuckles all throughout their back so that their entire body is being rocked. It's not comfortable and I don't like how it makes the belly move so much! I realize that of course Massage Envy is not going to say "oh sorry we ran out of good masseurs so the rest are all crappy." They will convince you that the person they chose for ou is good for your assurance sake, but 1 out of 8 masseurs are actually good masseurs! Since my husband paid for the massages, he gave them a big tip since he's classy like that so they probably think they did a fantastic job. ONLY go by recommendations!!! This is not a review specific to the Beverly Hills location, but for Massage Envy in general. I have been a member for a couple of years and have been quite satisfied. After reading some of the more negative reviews, I wanted to provide a slightly different perspective on the contractual obligation and the tipping. Yes - if you choose to become a member, you will sign a contract. If you don't want to be obligated to the terms of the contract, don't sign it. As some of the reviews indicate, there are other options out there. If, however, you are willing to commit to the monthly membership fee, you will earn 1 credit per month. If you don't use it each month, it will roll over. There have been times that I haven't gone for quite awhile and my credits accumulated. At one point, I was able to have 90-minute massages for 3 consecutive weeks. Nice! A 50-minute hour is pretty common across several professions, not just massage therapists, and it is definitely not unique to Massage Envy. Also, the non-member prices are fairly consistent with other spa facilities, so the membership price is definitely a good value. The recommended tip scale is NOT 30% - it is between 15% and 25% of the full price. In other words, it is the tip you would pay the massage therapist if you were not a member, which is appropriate. If you dine out somewhere and have a 2-for-1 coupon, you should still tip your server 15 - 20% of what the bill would have been without the discount. Same concept applies here. (Assuming the service warrants a tip.) Finally, it may take more than one try to find the right massage therapist for you. If you have a negative experience (like the reviewer whose therapist's phone vibrated...), LET THE FRONT DESK KNOW so they can deal with the situation appropriately. Hope this helps... read more

Awful!!! I have tried this place 3 times and every time has been a disaster. The first time the masseuse sat in a chair the whole massage and used one hand !!!!! The other times I booked 90 minutes and they just turn it into a 60 minutes witch is really like 40 minutes there. They make sure to bring you in the room 5 minutes late time you change and undress that's another 5 min and they stop 10 minutes early. Avoid at all costs. They have so much better places here in La and you don't have to get caught up in this bull shit membership. If you cancel you have 30 days to use the hours you accumulated. read more
