Beware!! I've had a membership at Massage Envy for about 8 years. It was visiting the Mount Pleasant, SC location for the first time in about a year. They now charge a "MARK UP" fee for each visit. There was no warning when I booked or confirmed. It was not told until the services were complete. Update! I received a call from the manager Miranda two days later. She claimed I never provided my credit card info, which is not true. I clearly remember calling back to give the card and calling again even to confirm the booking. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, she denied any responsibility and made no effort to fix the situation. If they had just taken accountability, I would've understood mistakes happen. I hate that I have to even put one star if I had a choice it would be negative stars! I was denied service because of my service dog (who was behaving as he should have been) so Monday evening I went there to make an appointment for Friday at 11. My service dog accompanied me there well I was making an appointment, and I walked in for my appointment , she checked me in then came over and told me my service dog had to leave because the massus didn't like dogs! I explained that Apollo is my service dog and he alerts me to health issues and keeps me out of the hospital. They didn't care they said he still had to leave!! So I don't plan on ever going back and I will let people know that they are undereducated on service dogs and their purpose! So much for not discriminating your clients read more

I have been a loyal customer for years. This place used to be great under former management and ownership. Very disappointed in the new management- would not accommodate a very simple waiving of a monthly freeze fee despite not having a therapist that does 90 min deep tissue massages. Note that they only have one deep tissue therapist on their entire staff that only works 2 days weekly and is booked out over a month. read more

They refused to give my daughter a massage because she had a service dog. She was told the therapist didn't like dogs, and he would have to leave. We explained he's a medical alert dog and they can't be separated. They told her that they couldn't give her a massage than, and she'd have to leave. read more

I love a good massage and purchased a package deal. My first massage was all I expected. I then tried to book my next mass wage and availability was tough. Times were slim and deep tissue seemed to never be available. I canceled my membership since it was frustrating to try to get the type of massage I wanted at the time and day I was available. Always fully booked.My experience is that it's very hard to get an appointment and when I get one they have cancelled me several times due to therapist calling out for whatever reason.I cancelled my membership and they took 2 credits saying that it expired based on my contract.How can they take money out of my bank and keep it without giving the service or giving a refund.Anyway in a 1hr massage they take 10mins to start and ends 10mins. So you really have 40 mins .Other massage place you get a whole 60 mins .of massage.I will never recommend massage envy to anybody. read more

This was a mixed experience. I threw out my back the other day and muscle relaxers/ibuprofen/stretching wasn't cutting it, so I booked a massage at Massage Envy. Booking the appointment online, there were a lot of optional additions thrown my way and it turned me off a little bit. I went for the enhanced muscle therapy since my back was so clenched up. When I got there, my massage specialist explained what would occur over the next hour. I hadn't realized that the extra enhanced muscle therapy was built into the hour but had thought it was on top of the hour. Whatever, totally fine. She was professional and honestly worked wonders on my back, although $10 for a hot towel and some Biofreeze was not really worth it in my mind. I had noted that my massage started at 5:08 and she was done at 5:57, so I didn't even get my full hour. I mentioned that at the counter when I was paying and the employee knocked off the $10 for the enhanced therapy, which was more than I had expected - I really just mentioned it because I was paying over $100 for less than an hour. They also tried hard to sell me on the 6-month massage packet for "only an additional $295", which is not exactly pocket change. I'm not sure if I'll be back to this location, but my back does feel a lot better today. read more

Today I had two amazing services - a microderm infusion treatment with Kat that left my skin feeling amazing and so much brighter. She had knowledge of my skin, made the right recommendations and really gave a wonderful facial. I came out glowing! My second appointment was a 90 minute massage with tension relief by Marquita. She was absolutely amazing. Clear understanding of how I held my tension, just the right pressure to both release muscles while still creating a relaxing experience - really difficult balance and she was fantastic. I was considering ending my membership after I used some of my remaining credits, but these two women changed my mind and I'm booking my next sessions now!!! read more

I have been a long time customer of Massage Envy in Mt Pleasant SC. I have faithfully paid my membership knowing I was unable to used the credits. I am not facing financial hardship. I explain to the manager that I am unable to continue to pay a monthly membership and that I will just use my credits (11) and cancel. The manger stated that in order me me to cancel I need to pay my monthly which will continue to add more credits or place my account on freeze in which I am unable to use the credits. If I was to cancel my membership later I will be able to received a portion of my credits less than have. because I'm am unable to pay I'm going to lose all my credits. not good business at all. read more

They ask that I bring it to the attention of management, it was a GIFT. I personally was not there, it was for the ladies and timed to occur while the men enjoyed a golf outing. I was contacted right away to confirm my appt. and arrived about 15 minutes early like they asked. After filling out only a little paperwork, I asked who I assume was the manager why this particular massage envy had such bad reviews. She let me know that they were under new management. My massage with Daniela was almost the entire hour, with minimal but pleasant conversation. She did a great job applying the amount of pressure I asked for and checked a few times during the massage to make sure it was alright. Very relaxing, especially with the rosemary mint aromatherapy. The new management here has done a fantastic job and I would definitely recommend both Daniela and this Massage Envy. read more

They have not learned anything from losing the lawsuit several years ago about deceptive sales practices. The massage therapists are not the problem. They have many very good therapists on staff, but the management and the hard sell of the staff make this very unpleasant. I had a massage by Nicole. Worst $74 I have ever spent. I got to my appointment relaxed and excited. The 90 minutes she rubbed my back were the worst of my life. I seriously considered asking her to just end mid-session several times. My shoulders and back were completely normal when I went in and when I left my shoulders were sooooooo tense I couldn't even turn my head. No joke. Then she has the nerve to tell me to go home and ice it. I have had many many massages in my time and I have never left a spa pissed off and in pain. Several times I told her to stop applying so much pressure and she did not listen. Never ever go there. It was the absolute worst money I ever spent. read more

This was my first time at ME. I made an appointment for a stretch last Friday (today is Monday). First I was told that I was there for a massage, I was not. Then I was told that I was not on the schedule and that I must have made the appointment at a different location (I did not) While waiting I removed my cycling shorts (I has other shorts on underneath) and was then castigated for doing so as it was a "Protocol Violation" Really? My husband and I returned to the Mount Pleasant location of Massage Envy. The owner met us and made sure there were no delays in getting our service. The check-out process was a little slow because there appeared to be a trainee on the scheduling system. My massage was excellent. My husband said his service was the best he's ever had. I think when your membership is at another location it takes a while for the other locations to see and use your pre-paid sessions. The service was good. The kinks in check-out system should be fixed. Over all I would go back again for facial or massage. read more

I've been a member here for a few years and just wanted to make sure I point out my satisfaction as so many people only seem to get on here to point out negative experiences. They frequently accommodate last minute appointments. I have never had to wait long for a massage and most therapists are exactly what I expect since they tell you what pressure they are when you make the appointment. This place is a way to get an affordable massage, not a day at the spa pampering-type experience. They do massage and do it well. read more

If you are looking for a poorly managed operation with mediocre to terrible service, this is the place for you. We signed a contract based on a very good massage technician -- who promptly left the business. After that we tried two different "therapists." The only conclusion we could make was that it was the first day for both. On one of these occasions they also screwed up the schedule. When we called to cancel our one year contract we were told that since we had missed the 30 day cancellation window by 24 hours we would be charged for another month. Stay away from this place, there are a number of great massage therapists working in the Charleston area. None are working here. read more

WOW. Never will go go back. I had a mediocre (1 hr) massage, which only lasted 45 minutes. The front desk lady told me she'd add some points to my account for an add-on treatment for a future appt. There won't be a next time. It cost $95!!!! I could have gotten a much better massage at Urban Nirvana (my usual go-to), at a more relaxing place, and pay even less. Jen is the absolute best massage therapist! I've been to a few others at this location, and none come close to her expertise. Every massage I have by Jen is exactly what I need. The only negative would be that they schedule her one after another, and sometimes she's running a few minutes behind. I'm sure it would help immensely if people would remove themselves from the room in a timely manner so she can turnover the room for her next client OR if they schedulers would allow for the room turnover time when she's scheduled with clients back to back to back to back. I have a feeling that these kinds of places are hit and miss. so I will tell you about a wonderful 'hit'... The massage lasted 55 minutes (I think) and I was able to book same day. This is NOT a day spa with a nice relaxation room with dim lights, light snacks, lots of green tea. This is a place where you show up, walk to the back and get your treatment. I would never hang out here. With that caveat, I had the best massage in a LONG time and I get massages fairly regularly. I woke up two days before with a terrible knot in my neck. I tried everything to get rid of it for two days. I was on vacation and decided that I needed professional help. Chan (pronounced Shawn) was AMAZING. She worked on my neck and shoulders and eased the headache it was causing. She did it efficiently enough that I was also able to an arm and leg massage too (I was willing for her to spend the full hour on my back). I was sore the next day but the wrenching pain was gone. ABSOLUTELY fabulous. She was friendly enough to know when I wanted to chat and when I wanted to zone. Everyone should go to Chan - just don't expect an Elizabeth Arden Red Door experience in your surrounding, you are in a strip mall. However, Chan could absolutely work in one of the high end spas - she is talented. read more

I highly recommend a visit to Massage Envy in Mt Pleasant. I had the best massage I have ever had in my life while on vacation in So Carolina recently. After every other massage I've ever had in the past I was in a fair amount of pain 2 days later, this time I felt the therapist really listened to me and adjusted the pressure accordingly. When I left I felt refreshed and energized, the tension and stress I was experiencing was totally relieved. My therapists name was Wendy, she was great!!!
