Don't waste your money! They will say anything to get you into the store and then don't keep their promise. After I booked 3 massages (myself, daughter and my wife) we were told when we arrived that they only had enough staff to conduct 2 of the massages. This was a family gift (all of us to enjoy massages together) that I gave my family for Christmas! The manager even had the nerve to threaten to charge me for cancellations fees if we decided to leave. THEY MADE THE MISTAKE AND THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME A CANCELLATION FEE!!!! I had the manager call the owner for some type of concession and the owner agreed to gave us $10.00 off. WOW how generous! Stay away from this business! Terrible, unprofessional management! I had my first massage in February and it was great. I signed up for the monthly plan. Finally found a great masseuse and my back was actually improving. However, after my last interaction with management, I will never go back. On 28 May, my massage was great! However, when I went to pay, they made a mistake and charged me even though it was my monthly massage. No issue, stuff happens. The payment is pending on my account and I asked for a receipt. Octavia was sitting at the desk and said, it is just pending. It really didn't charge, so it will just drop off. She said if there were any issues to call her and she would take care of it right away. Today, 1 June, the charge completely went through (I did call and verify this with my bank as well). I called back and Octavia said it wasn't true since she didn't see it in her system. I said I am looking at it right now. Octavia then stated if it was true, then she needed me to email her copies of my bank statements (my bank STRONGLY advised against this) to an email box. I told her that there was no way I was sending my personal bank account information to her. She said "if you don't, you wont like the way this conversation goes." I immediately said I wanted to talk to a manager. She said she was the manager. I demanded to talk to the owner then. She said I was not allowed to speak with the owners and that the only way this would get fixed, if it even was true, was if I sent her my bank statements. I said I would not. I offered to drive over after work but wouldn't get there before she left since I live and work 45 mins away and cannot just leave work to clear up their mistake. She said suit yourself and hung up. I called back to the Williamsburg location and asked to speak to the owners but was told they weren't available. I have never been talked to so disrespectfully or unprofessionally. I will never go back and am cancelling my membership. A massage is supposed to be relaxing, but to be yelled at or treated like this by management is unacceptable. I still have yet to hear from the owners and sincerely doubt that they have even received my message. I want my money back that they mis-charged me. I see on other reviews that others have had the same issues with overcharging as well as with Octavia. It is a shame. I used to look forward to my appointments, but I am not going to frequent a business that treats their customers like that. I did hear back from the front desk - one of the girls called and said if I would send a screen shot of the charge, that would do. However, I want to personally speak to the owners. Clean, friendly staff but don't expect your therapist to stay longer than 6 or 7 months. After going through 4 therapist in 3 years I gave up. There were also all kinds of scheduling issues and cancellations, some of which you didn't know about until you got there. It may only be this office,but what a shame. read more

I just had my first experience with this establishment, and it will definitely be my last. When I signed up to get a massage, I made sure to explain experience was important to me. The receptionist put me with a masseuse with less than 1 year of experience (even though I was told differently while booking). Although parts of the package for my gift had to be done in unison, I was not told this to begin with. When I brought it up at checkout, I got a rude comment and more if a sales pitch. I did send an email to customer service to express my dissatisfaction and was written back a generic, excuse filled email. I was looking for something else and saw the Williamsburg Massage Envy....I could not believe it when I saw the low rating. I have been going to this establishment for over a year now and I could not be happier. Though I always try to get Kandi, I have ended up with several others and love every one of them. My husband is a happy member as well. We do not always get in each month so have been able to gift some massages. Our friends and family who have received the massages have been just as happy. I have a neighbor who has been a member for over a year as well. She is so pleased she got her husband to join as well. Not even worth one star! Be aware before you make an appointment or buy a membership package from them! I was given 8 massages as a gift and every massage was cut 15 minutes short and I was in pain the next day from my massage. We are on vacation and decided to get massages at a reasonable price. BAD choice with this Massage Envy in New town village. I was told we were getting experienced good therapists. They LIED. My husband had a seasoned therapist(9years) while my therapist had to be a new graduate fresh out of school. NO DAMN EXPERIENCE AT ALL! I had to tell him what to do through the whole massage. I am a LMT since 2007 and I told them that. So he should have never been let loose at a big spa like Massage Envy to work on anyone without practice on their staff! John does not know how to do the basic strokes that should have been learned at massage school. The staff should have offered me another massage or a discount of some sort for the terrible massage I got. They are obviously not seasoned in good customer service skills. Do not get a prenatal massage here! I got one (with Dr's okay) when I was about 11 weeks pregnant. I wasn't given a pillow between my knees to keep my hips supported; a body pillow was put next to me under the sheet I was laying on and I was told to "cuddle up" to it, but it was awkward and I couldn't get it between my knees due to it being stuck under the sheet. The amount of pressure the therapist used was also way too hard. Got off the table and had immediate, sharp hip pain that I didn't have when I walked in. Several weeks of persistent pain later, I found out that my pelvis had been put out of alignment, resulting in hundreds of dollars spent on physical therapy. Can't speak to their regular massages, but do NOT get a prenatal massage here. It's cheap, but you get what you pay for. Avoid. read more

Membership: Not Worth The Money!!! -NOT Possible to Cancel Membership (except to be permanently disabled in some way or move 25 miles away from any ME Location) -Forge Membership documents if they get your credit card info -Lose paid for services if not used by last day of membership -NOT allowed to give your prepaid services to who you want. (not within 6 months) -WON'T work on Chemo Patients -But wait! There's more... My experience with Massage Envy started with someone giving me a gift certificate. I had never had a massage before and hadn't been in a rush to get one so I put off using it for months. I finally used it because due to my job I was in some serious back pain that affected my ability to work. Thinking a massage would ease the pain and tension in my back muscles I went there to use the gift certificate. Someone from the reception desk talked to me about why I was there and what I wanted worked on. Due to my pain I felt pretty desperate for relief and she preyed upon that to sell their membership to me. It started then and after to massage when I was a bit more relaxed (although the pain hadn't left entirely) and feeling sleepy they continued their sales pitch. Not usually one to be sold on expensive and luxurious things like this I feel I was gullible in my weakened state. I foolhardily handed over my credit card and signed a 1 year contract. One of the dumbest things I've ever done. I went again and at some point I felt it wasn't for me. At around the same time my credit card (tied directly to my bank account) that had been used to sign up with got replaced. Since I didn't want the membership anymore I didn't notify Massage Envy of the updated information. In my experience when you can't be charged for a product or service they cancel your "order". (I had a similar experience with a type of membership that charged my account monthly. When my card was compromised and I received a new one I forgot to update the info with this company. Due to this oversight they canceled the product/service I had been paying for due to non payment.) Apparently this is not the policy of Massage Envy. They have people who pursue this type of issue. I did receive messages that they were unable to process payment. Since I wasn't using the service anymore I did not want to pay for it anymore. I didn't feel the membership price was that much of a discount to make it worth the $59.99 being charged to me every month. Even though I wasn't coming in and getting massages they felt they deserved to be paid anyways. So a few months down the road and they somehow worked hard enough at the issue to suddenly force a charge through of over $356 to my bank account. Understandably upset I contacted Massage Envy in Williamsburg and told them I hadn't used their services so I didn't need to pay for their services. They disagreed. I made an appointment with the manager at the time, I believe her name was Chanda or something. When I arrived at the location I witnessed the manager herself selling a membership to a woman. This woman clearly asked "If I ever want to cancel my membership what would I have to do?" The manager said to her, "Oh, just write us a letter and we'll take care of that for you." When she was done with that customer she ushered me into her office. I spoke to her about my concerns and why I didn't feel it was justified that they had charged my account and had worked to hard to force that payment through. She acted all understanding but it was all just an act. Because when I asked if I could just go ahead and cancel my membership right then and there she said that wasn't possible. That there was nothing she could do for me. I could not cancel and I would continue to be charged monthly. (So she lied to the customer she had seen just before saying that a simple letter could cancel such an ironclad contract and she had no real power to help anyone.) So since I was really disenchanted with the whole company and massage concept all together at this point I asked her to make sure that this membership wouldn't auto-renew. She said she'd make sure. I also asked if I could at least let my family members used my accrued services. She said yes. But that I would have to pay extra money in order to do that. Making the massage cost $69.99. I have to say I really don't understand this policy. Moving on, I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for myself because I was out of options it seemed. I also scheduled one of my services for one of my family members, paying the extra money to do so and double-checking with the employee that my family member wouldn't owe any money when she came in and they assured me she would not. If I could give Massage Envy a 0 stars, I would. I have been absolutely appalled by their lack of communication to their customers. I was very happy when I found a massage therapist that I liked, but cancelling your membership was an absolute NIGHTMARE!!! I cancelled my membership through e-mail and called to confirm by phone a month later and was told that they had NO RECORD of me scheduling the cancel date (when my contract ended)..... I had to forward them the confirmation email to prove that I had sent it. When I got the cancellation scheduled, I transferred my last massage to a friend of mine and paid the transfer fee. I SPECIFICALLY asked to make sure that it would not expire when my membership expired. I was told that it would not since it was put into her account as a pending massage in Chester VA. When she called to set it up, she was told it is expired. I called on November 2nd and was told that I would receive a call back either that night or the next day from someone who could help me. I did not receive a call back and so I called the store and was informed that it is better to send an email. Why wasn't that indicated when I called 4 days ago? I have been calling and asking to speak with the manager on almost a daily basis and have been told that "our managers aren't in as often as we would like, just send an e-mail and you will get a response in 3-4 business days". It has now been an entire month and I have YET to receive an e-mail or any form of communication back. I have sent 4 e-mails asking them to please respond and yet have received NOTHING. They are terrible and it is not worth the hassle to cancel your membership and the front staff that you speak to just brushes you off. I am completely shocked at their lack of customer service.
