I had a terrible experience before my massage even began. I found this spa through Groupon and called ahead to make a reservation. During the call, I specifically asked whether they preferred that I purchase the Groupon online or simply pay the Groupon price directly at the spa. They told me I could pay them directly. When I arrived early for my appointment, they said they only wanted cash. I asked if I could pay through Zelle, and they agreed. Since I was already sending the payment electronically, I asked if I could include the tip at the same time before my service, and they initially said yes. Then they changed their minds and insisted that I send another Zelle after the massage for the tip. I explained that if I was already sending one payment that included the tip, I wasn't going to send a second Zelle afterward. I included a $15 tip, but instead of appreciating it, I was told they have "recommended" tip amounts and that they were already giving me a discount. Let's be clear: purchasing a Groupon is not the business giving me a personal discount--it's a promotion they choose to participate in to attract customers. If they have an issue honoring Groupon pricing, then they shouldn't advertise on Groupon. A tip is a courtesy based on the service provided, not something customers should be pressured or forced to pay at a certain amount before the service has even been performed. Because I wouldn't agree to tip what they wanted, they became upset and refused to provide the service, despite the fact that I had called ahead, confirmed everything in advance, and arrived on time for my appointment. I've never experienced such unprofessional customer service. Turning away a paying customer over a tip is unacceptable. I will never return, and I would not recommend this business to anyone. read more

We had to take our shoes off at the front and then they escorted us back into the room. We had both a male and a female masseuse and we were able to talk and laugh while we got our massages. The pressure was constant but firm and the oil was perfect and hot. They were professional and I basically melted into the table. Loved Massage House! So this is an Asian spot but not the typical leave-your-clothes-on-in-a-big-open-space spot. It's a legit massage, they ask what pressure you'd like, and you strip down. They seem to specialize in couples massages as the rooms all have two beds in them, but they were awesome to me as a solo massage-getter, too. When you enter, take your shoes off & put them in the cubby hole then check in with reception. I think I actually paid first here, then tipped after. My masseuse was just awesome and for an hour I paid $48. Also, I was able to get in the next day which is fairly uncommon when it comes to legit massages. But my lady did a great job and totally relaxed me. Everything about the experience from start to finish was excellent. I really wanted to like this place. It is conveniently located for me and the people are nice. I have had massages at two different times. The first time was only for 30 minutes and it was decent. I don't remember anything that was bad so, after that appointment, I would have probably given this place 4 stars. My last appointment, only a couple of weeks ago, was a present from my boyfriend. I was so excited to get an hour of getting some tension released from my poor sore muscles. My job is extremely physical (I'm an orthopedic surgical nurse), so I have knots like no other. There were some parts of the massage that were OK, but there were moves that made me think, "did this guy ever study anatomy?" At one point, the neck massage made me nervous because I know that if I ever had a cervical spine injury, he shouldn't be touching me like that. When he squeezed my hand, I couldn't help but say "ow!" out loud. And then when the massage therapist had my arm across my chest and was pulling it, I could feel the bones in my wrist slightly separate from my radius and ulna. I stiffened and he said, "Relax." Dude, I can't relax when I think I'm going to get hurt! I am accustomed to a more Western style of massage. There's a routine that is familiar to me. And often, the therapists who have studied the Western style check in with me to see how I am doing. They read the tension in my body and check before doing anything that could be misconstrued as extreme. As a nurse, "help, not hurt" is my motto. Those others might try and ploy you with their $28 massages- but I can assure you, paying $1 a minute will be worth your while at Massage House. My daughter and I had the 90-minutes couple full body massage. My pressure was way too hard/deep. We I would say "too hard", he would leave that muscle completely instead of adjusting the pressure. Please remember the person giving you water did not massage you, they will just take the tip and nod. The two sweet ladies came in started talking which was fine... BUT they talked through 60 mins of OUR time.. We also didn't get DEEP TISSUE massage at all. No pressure points, then she did put pressure used her elbow into my spine! However she massaged my left shoulder it was popping in and out.. didn't feel good at all made me feel nauseous. So basically the whole time all they did was put oil on us with actually giving us deep tissue.. The lady that my boyfriend had was sick.. with a nasty cough.. sounded like she had a lot of mucus in her throat while talking and laughing to the lady that's was supposedly giving us a DEEP TISSUE massage... I was planning a nice spa day for a friend's bachelorette and saw the Groupon available for a couples massage with hot stones. First off, the groupon was complete false advertisement. The service was valued at $290 for $96. When I got to Massage House, I saw on their pricing sheet that this service was offered for $119. That put a bad taste in my mouth from the get go. We got to our appointment early at 12:40/12:45, for a 1pm Appt. We were taken into the room at 1/1:10 and we laid on the beds for 20ish minutes before we had the massage therapists even come into the room. So we didn't start our appointment until 1:25. We were sitting there debating if we wanted to put our clothes back on and go somewhere else. I have never had to wait that long before, naked on a bed. We were wondering if they were trying to find someone to cover the appointment or if they had taken a walk in that delayed them? I was looking for a nice spa experience to make my friend feel pampered. Not only was this place not that, but they put medical, scratchy/noisy paper on the beds so they DO NOT have to change the sheets. It was like going to a doctors office and the paper they put on the examination bed. Sorry, but when I want to be pampered, I want to lay on nice soft, clean sheets, and not worry about noisy/scratchy paper like I am at a doctors office. When we left, we noticed they did not remove the sheets between appointments. So much for a nice atmosphere of pampering for my friend. The actual massage was jarring!! I actually had the thought that the massage therapists were not licensed (they are- their certifications are in the lobby). My massage therapist entered the room panting and out of breath. I think they are just completely over worked. It was the least relaxing massage I have ever had. I requested deep tissue. I have had many deep tissue massages and still have felt relaxed and as though my knots were being worked on. In this massage I noticed I was literally clenching my jaw and squeezing my muscles because it was so painful. I like it deep but I think they were just going way to fast rolling over my muscles continuously with their elbows. I requested for him to go slower so it didn't feel like he was going to hurt me, but that didn't make a huge difference. He was working so fast, he was panting and seemingly out of breath the entire massage. My friend asked that her massage therapist work on her feet for the same reason. Her therapist didn't speak English and didn't understand so didn't comply to her request. All in all, if you want someone to beat you up and do cheap, intense muscle massage and no relaxing, try it for yourself. You'll be sore the next day. We booked via Groupon. $96 for an hour couples massage. They do not take reservations more than a week in advance. Booked a couples massage here on Friday afternoon. You can luck up and find free street parking. Didn't look busy, it was nice and quiet. They give you slippers to wear back into the rooms, they looked brand new or just very clean. In the room, there were His and Hers robes but we really didn't need them because we undressed and laid on the tables and the massage therapists came in less than 5 minutes later. They do ask you to keep your underwear on. My bf loved his massage, he said the woman was great and he felt like a "new man" afterward. I had a guy do my massage and it was kinda painful, even with the oil. I told him once to use less pressure, I'm not sure if he understood me because he continued the same pressure. It wasn't unbearable but at times I tensed up depending on the area. It's been about 6 hours since my massage and my back still feels a bit sore but I'm sure it'll go away. They did massage everything, from head to fingers to toe LITERALLY. It was great, they even did a small face session. They gave candy and water when it was over. Once it was all over, I did get up and see a sign to request the amount of pressure you wanted. I wish I would've seen it before or at least asked. I love massages and deep pressure but this is not it. They go super fast and deep with their elbow to the point where it is so uncomfortable and hard to breathe. Hands down best massages in the city. What I love is that they are super professionals. Sure the language barrier is always a issue but here there is a young lady in the front you can explain your nEeds and she will bring the masseuse yo you and in their native language explain your needs and goals. There is now a genuine understanding . The rooms are very clean property dim and not pressure sales of any type. Or return or recommendations to other will be based on your experience. I have been here number ours time with severe back pain that radiates down my leg and hip. After a few time it was suggested to try shiatsu that was life changing for me. I have met with Eric a few times and that is my go to guru. I have brought my mom, a grind and suggested th is place to a few Frinds and all have independently share their positive experience So it also good to share pricing. Is is not inexpensive. It costly well also I pay extra because I do the deep tissue so that is about 65. Swedish is I believe 48 All for 60 min. I only wish they would offer monthly specials I would go more often because it's physically beneficial or my well being. So maybe the owner would consider a special or repeat rewards program Monthly membership plan. Yelp, you failed me today. Tried this place based on good reviews- fake news as it was not good at all. Ug. This was a bad massage. Definitely one of the worst I have ever had. I appreciate that the price was less than most places but I wouldn't go back there even if the massage was free. The masseuse never asked about what pressure I wanted. I was cringing from how much pressure she used and on 4 occasions during a one hour massage had to tell her less pressure. She would ease up for a minute and then move to another area of my body and apply waaay too much pressure again. Not ok. I feel worse than before the massage. I'll give 2 stars instead of one as the facility was clean and it was easy to secure an appointment. Be ware. Nothing really exciting about this place. You're asked to take off your shoes and if you don't use the "slippers" they offer the you're just walking on the floor with bare feet or your socks on. There is no aromatherapy or candles or anything like that. You have to fold your clothes and make them fit in a tiny rack. There is no actual technique used here so I doubt anyone here went to massage therapy school. The person I had continued to focus on one area only and gave me pain that I didn't have. Within my five visits to Massage House, I've experienced a different masseur/masseuse each time. Every single massage I've had was absolutely wonderful. While some staff use more pressure than others, I do think it is important to speak up and address your pressure needs. At any point that I've asked for more or less pressure, the staff at Massage House have done so. I've never left this place without feeling relaxed and pleased with my experience. My biggest complaint is the tip guide of $15. That's nearly 32%. I would much rather pay a larger per hour fee and feel less obligated to tip an exorbitant amount.
