I have been visiting Dow for over a year at her existing clinic and am looking forward to seeing…read moreher at the new clinic which based on the photos will be a thai oasis in the south of Glasgow. Dow offers a wide range of massage types from thai aroma oil massage to traditional thai 'stretching' massage. She has loads of experience and trained at one of the top massage schools in Thailand. A visit to Dow is always a tonic. Not only does she totally chill me out she has also made a huge improvement in the back aches and tension that have plagued me for years. I cannot recommend her enough. At the new clinic Dow will have another Thai Massage therapist so if you fancy going for a massage with your partner or mates then she can book you in at the same time. Pricewise its good value at £40 for an hour massage and cheaper than other city massage outlets.

I've been meaning to get a massage for at least 18 months (coincidentally, the same amount of time…read moreI took up roller derby and started getting battered about!). I finally booked in for one online after seeing Elizabeth tweeting. I like people who are good at social media, and this (and her user friendly, helpful website) were the reason I chose her. I actually forgot to check where she was based until the morning. I knew it was the city centre but hadn't checked where! Thankfully she is right near Buchanan Street underground/Queen Street station so it was super easy to get to. It's easy to find too, it's right near the Carlton George and has good signage. Entering the Glasgow Treatment Rooms, you get the smell of a massage place - I think they must all use the same candles! You press the buzzer for the person you're seeing and take a seat. She popped out pretty quickly to say hello, and gave me a sheet to fill out with questions about allergies etc. Not long after I was shown into the massage room. The room was spacious and warm and looked really comfy. Just one massage table in the middle of the room with a couple of seats for your pre-massage chat. She went through a few questions about whether I had any particular pain to address and what my preference was. She was super friendly, helpful and bubbly so I was pretty relaxed. I didn't tell her at the time but I can get quite uncomfortable getting massages if I don't feel happy with the person, meaning I end up being really tense, but thankfully there was none of that here! I got a full body massage, and she focused on my legs (I get a lot of quad tightness from roller derby) as well as my neck and shoulders (hunching while working on the laptop!). It was relaxing and I felt comfortable at all stages, she would explain why she was massaging my glutes (hamstring goes all the way up there) and had good chat, but not too much chat that I couldn't relax! She also managed to unpop (not a medical term) the knot I've had in my shoulder which was an awesome feeling. Afterwards she had a chat about areas of concern - unsurprisingly, my quads and hips from skating. I've also been told this about a physio so I wasn't surprised! I'm planning another visit at the end of the month where she is going to be a bit more heavy handed on me! I felt super relaxed and a lot looser afterwards, and because she used cream rather than oil, I didn't feel greasy all day. For a 1 hour massage it was £40 which I think is great value. Importantly, she does't have card facilities so make sure you have cash.

The massages are good- rather on the efficient than luxurious side, but they have a good range of approaches, as well as having excellent cosmetic advisers. It is usually easy to book for a session on the same day, and the staff are more than willing to give great advice.
This is my local branch of the Ming Chen Clinics and the only one I've been in to date. Therefore,…read morethis review will be solely on my experiences here as opposed to other branches. Although, I am keen to see how the one on Woodlands Road measures up in comparison. Anyway, this is an acupuncture and herbalist clinic. It offers a range of treatments such as: acupuncture (obviously), Chinese herbal remedies, tui na (Chinese massage), reiki and spiritual medium services. They also claim to be able to help treat a range of problems like anxiety, asthma, depression, insomnia, stress and 'Women & Men's Problems'. I really do love this last one, but am a little confused as to what it means. Different problems to do with male and female genitalia? Sex problems between couples? Or just couple counselling sessions? Or do I just have a dirty, dirty mind?? Nonetheless, this is a good sized clinic which offers help with almost anything. I've been in here to have a few massages and have enjoyed them for a decent price. I have a friend who came here for reiki and really enjoyed it until she managed to creep herself out something awful. There's some big story about feeling more than two hands on her and how this was proof of spiritual guardians or something. I've also heard of a few friends coming here to help them stop smoking. Whatever, happened it actually seemed to work as well. Though, only for around three days to a week. Thus, I would say that the actual treatments and remedies can be very hit and miss depending on what they are and, of course, on what YOU expect them to do. However, in general terms it is a nice, clean, tidy clinic that offers a wide range of treatments and remedies. The staff are friendly and the prices decent. Worth a go, if there's something that catches your eye and you're not expecting miracle cures.

We were in the same room on side by side massage mats, but I was so taken over by my massage, I forgot he was laying on the mat next to me. After traveling a bit, my hips and legs and shoulders and neck were as wound up as they could get. The style of traditional Thai massage is vigorous and intense and done while clothed lying on the mat. The masseuse uses her elbows, knees, hands and feet to really loosen up the muscles. You also get twisted and turned to help with range of motion. Just what I needed to get out all of the knots and stiffness. My massage was exactly what I wanted. If you've got tight hips and legs, there's no better type of treatment for them. If you're looking for a more relaxing massage instead, I'd go for the oil massage. The massage can be catered to how you like it. If you want firmer or softer pressure, you can let your masseuse know. They also had loose pants and a t-shirt I could wear for the thai massage, which made it nice as I didn't have to worry about wearing the loose clothing to the appointment. Highly recommended. When I am back in Glasgow, I'll definitely return for another massage.

The only, very small, letdown was that the Crystal Steam Room was out of order. My mum also booked is for a massage afterwards, as recommended by the staff. From start to finish the experience was wonderful, the staff friendly and professional, and, with the exception of one very loud patron who's volume control was our of order, very relaxing. After our massage we were lead to the Drift Away room, complete with tea, loungers and beds! Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that our tummies were growling we could have stayed there all day! Also or would have been nice to have our complimentary Prosecco there, whilst lounging in our robes, rather than having to get ready and have it in the reception area afterwards.

But the last few times I've been have been a little bit of a disappointment to be honest. Sometimes the underwater jets wouldn't work, then it would be the massage jets were off or on one occasion the steam-room wasn't working. There wasn't a single day I was there in a six week period that there wasn't at least one major piece of the Thermal experience which wasn't working. Then there is the small things. The keypad locks on the lockers have never worked right and once I even had to ring reception and ask them to send someone down as it had locked away my clothes and refused to open. Not a very relaxing experience as you stand dripping in your towel. And on my last visit the one and only hair-dryer in the men's dressing room was broken. Minor issues, but for a place which charges £65 for a single days access to the thermal experience you expect everything to be perfect. Our membership also included access to the gym which I wasn't impressed by. The free weights available are minimal with the heaviest dumbbell being only 10kg. There are a few cardio machines and a few weight machines such as a chest press, again with very low maximum weight (40kg). It is incredibly small, but as you're likely to be the only person in there it probably won't matter. The thermal experience used to be superb, and I really hope it sorts out the issues in the future. But for me it simply isn't worth the (reduced) membership fee anymore.

Granted, it's been a while since I've been able to get my usual done here. I used to go in for laser hair removal (too much info, I'm sorry) and I'm not going to lie - it's not a painless procedure. However, the staff at the time made me feel at home, playing out panpipe music in the background and talking in soothing voices - it makes the process a bit more bearable. And by no means is it a traumatising experience - it's manageable pain and over in microseconds. It was really effective when I was getting it done and I'd highly recommend it. Revival Retreat specialise in modern beauty technologies such as laser hair and scar removal, and brings Botox to the high street without an element of taboo. It's great that they reduce these stereotypically Hollywood endorsed beauty therapies to a level within your price range but it's still expensive. I would argue, however, that what with the staff and the great selection available to you that you are paying for fantastic quality of service. Even though i can barely afford an eyebrow wax these days and have to leave such matters in my own dangerous hands, waxings are all very affordable here and carried out in a very relaxing, hygienic and friendly environment. Moreover, the prices haven't been changed since the recession so kudo's to Revival Retreat for keeping their high class treatments at low prices. It is a salon of classy, contemporary quality with down to earth staff and definitely worth a visit before your summer holiday or wedding.
