You can also enjoy it in the atmospheric old rock-walled lower level. Now, let's talk about the shower -- yes, the shower. It's easily one of the coolest I've ever seen. The first knob activates side misters that fill the space with hot steam. There's a built-in bench where you can sit and enjoy the mist. Turn the second knob and you get a beautiful waterfall cascading from overhead while seated. Stand up and under the full rain-style shower. And if that's not enough, there's also a handheld wand. During high season , if you're driving here, you must call in advance and give them your license plate number. The old town has narrowed streets (lanes really)with lots of pedestrians. And only locals can regularly drive here. And , the streets are closed about 6:30pm to all vehicles. This allows lots of walking through the enjoyable old town. After visiting these tourist hotspots, it was wonderful to return and relax at the peaceful masseria. What made staying at Masseria Peppeturro special was returning from bustling tourist towns to the peaceful, relaxing atmosphere of the masseria. I can't say enough about Rino and his parents, Maria and Giovanni. Rino was super laid-back, friendly, and incredibly accommodating, always available when I had questions, whether about parking or restaurant recommendations--every suggestion was spot-on. Giovanni and I bonded, picking figs together, and he even took me to his secret garden to harvest hot peppers for me. Maria, with her warm heart, made amazing scrambled eggs from their fresh, on-site eggs upon request at morning breakfast. Our accommodations were fantastic--spacious with a private patio, luxurious pool area, and ample parking. I highly recommend Masseria Peppeturro for a truly authentic farm stay experience in Puglia! The location, inside this grotto in the town of Polignano, overlooks the Adriatic Sea. The menu, is prix fixe and you can choose among a few. Wine can be by the bottle or paired (we chose by the bottle). Children are only admitted until the 6 pm dinner (children menu $100). Reservations (on their website) are a must. If you go to Puglia, it is really worth to have this experience.

Our lodging was in a traditional trullo, the conical-roofed stone structure characteristic to this part of the Puglia region. It was essentially like having our own little house, very cozy and private. Daily housekeeping was okay but a bit spotty about handling some basics like enough towels and TP. So we did need to make a few front desk requests to supplement things. the office staff and most personnel around the property speak English. There are lovely gardens all around, a beautiful heated swimming pool, and a spa with jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room. But the most notable attribute of all is the kitchen and dining room. We had a half board arrangement so we ate breakfast and dinner each day on the property. The breakfasts were generous and diverse with many sweet and savory offerings. the vegetables and fruit in this region are without parallel. Dinners were excellent. I was a bit concerned about the availability of vegetarian food but my concerns were unjustified. Every night was a different and high-quality six-course vegetarian feast. It was a challenge not to over eat. The service in the dining room was excellent. there were excellent local, regional, and national wines available. In all this was an excellent experience. I would return if the opportunity presents itself. Note that the property is a bit outside of the town of Locorotondo so a car (or a driver) is a necessity to travel off property to visit the region.
