The white bait fritter served as a main

Going out for dinner on a Sunday night is a real treat and this restaurant provided an amazing meal for us. The staff were so attentive and were even willing to change the menu choices for me. It felt like a real family local venue which was well patronised on this balmy evening. Love my choice of white bait fritter and my friends salad looked and tasted very good. Thank you to our waitress Mercedes for being so accommodating even when one of our guests required a room temperature non alcoholic beer.

This place is "nice". Nice like when someone describes another person that they like but will never date, saving a zombie level apocalypse. Everything looked like it would be amazing, but ended up being just nice. Service is friendly, seating area is lovely, food is passable. Ok, I probably expected a bit too much out of a avant garde Xmas menu at a cafe, but still don't talk a big game if you can't step up to the plate. Speaking of plates...bread baked in a pot is cute, but not delicious, unless the intention was to have the bread absorb the ceramic thickness qualities of the pot. Might have just been the one we got. Balsamic accompaniment was solid (good). Didn't get it myself, but steak sandwich and chips looked like the way to go here. Let me reiterate, staff were very friendly, food was not bad, just not epic I'll probably come back, but not for a date, just to hang, maybe with a movie...

Absolutely delicious. Scallops are to die for. Leigh snapper amazing. Easily best out of Auckland dining experience.

Provided you've not left it too late in the day, the cabinet has a good variety of sandwiches, cakes and salads. If you're after something a little heartier they do a damn good pizza. Or if you're an early riser the breakfast menu is worth a try too. The café is bright and airy; with plenty of seating indoor and out. And the best part? When you've had your fill, it's just a short meander back to the sand for your afternoon nap on the beach.

My dad, a fussy eater, loves the light and fluffy omelettes served here. The eggs benedict aren't bad either, with the pizzas popular with the children. I haven't had any if the lunches here (apart from pizzas) so can't comment on pastas or other main dishes. The coffees are great though, it's terrific to start a nice summer or winter morning with a quality coffee and repeat clientele enjoy the free coffee with their loyalty punchcards. But the service deserves a mention too. The owners and staff are friendly, attentive, and keen to know your name once they establish you are local. That's great to see! They do their best to accommodate special needs and requests like making extra space for disabled guests and ensuring the sometimes fierce breeze can be blocked with their windscreens in the outdoor areas.
