The white bait fritter served as a main

Going out for dinner on a Sunday night is a real treat and this restaurant provided an amazing meal for us. The staff were so attentive and were even willing to change the menu choices for me. It felt like a real family local venue which was well patronised on this balmy evening. Love my choice of white bait fritter and my friends salad looked and tasted very good. Thank you to our waitress Mercedes for being so accommodating even when one of our guests required a room temperature non alcoholic beer.

This place is "nice". Nice like when someone describes another person that they like but will never date, saving a zombie level apocalypse. Everything looked like it would be amazing, but ended up being just nice. Service is friendly, seating area is lovely, food is passable. Ok, I probably expected a bit too much out of a avant garde Xmas menu at a cafe, but still don't talk a big game if you can't step up to the plate. Speaking of plates...bread baked in a pot is cute, but not delicious, unless the intention was to have the bread absorb the ceramic thickness qualities of the pot. Might have just been the one we got. Balsamic accompaniment was solid (good). Didn't get it myself, but steak sandwich and chips looked like the way to go here. Let me reiterate, staff were very friendly, food was not bad, just not epic I'll probably come back, but not for a date, just to hang, maybe with a movie...

Absolutely delicious. Scallops are to die for. Leigh snapper amazing. Easily best out of Auckland dining experience.

It was open at the time I was in the area and it did look inviting. I perused the menu and decided to give it a try. Walking in I saw the old-fashioned furnishings, metal chairs, display cases, wall shelves, big bar in the middle all in a long and narrow room. Yessss, this looks lie something out of the 50s and I like it. After a long hard look at the menu I opted for the Salami platter... Strangely enough there wasn't salami, but more like a smoked ham, prosciutto like meat. It tasted great, so what's in a name. Delicious heirloom tomatoes, capers, salami impersonator, cream cheese, capers, pickles and your choice of bread. I had chosen crumpets and regretted that . Not because they weren't delicious, because they were so yummy, but they were also so buttery that I couldn't get the cream cheese to stick and everything I tried to put on the crumpet just slid right off them. I got the bottomless cup of coffee and I must say, this is really good coffee and the refills kept coming also. I love the atmosphere in here and there are so many great choices on the menu. If I ever come back tot Auckland, I will definitely stop by this place again.

It's a popular place and they were crowded but we didn't have to wait for a table. There was plenty of food for each order. My wife had a street dog and fries and I had a Ruben. They were pretty decent. I wasn't as happy with the fries. They were like the bottom of a pile and mostly little pieces with very few full length slices. Prices were extremely reasonable. I would definitely eat there again.

I will say I was happy with the wine menu, lots of interesting choices, I ended up picking the Ned Rose- always consistently good, given this has more a hipster small batch beer brew kinda place. The kids menu was good value at 13.50, (burger chips, drink and desert) and had different offerings on it, I could of done with the salt n pepper squid, but the kids choose the chicken burger. What I found weird the burger had no vegs: just a bun and chicken strips that were deemed "too spicy" and therefore not eaten. Sigh. I had the 1/2kg of ribs and swapped the corn for some broccoli, again the ratio of vegs to meet was way off (would of been happy with a 1/4kg rib option). The ribs themselves were dry and the bbq sauce was yum but just an average sauce you get everywhere. On the menu was maple butter but don't think it was served, maybe it was on the corn??? Anywho the new brickworks area is lovley, designed to make the most of the summer sun, but simular to silva park im not sure how much use it will get in the winter. And bonus the mall was open late so I got some Xmas shopping done.
