Their shoes remain, mystifyingly, some of the kinkiest in the Mall bar Kurt Geiger so even if thought of shopping in M&S makes you think of your grandmother's twin set and pearls then brave it and check out the shoes. Staff are always helpful in here, especially good as its such a big store, and will help you find things or fetch you different sizes of clothes whilst you stay in the changing room.

This underlines the real reason we wouldn't return to M&S Deli: the food is reasonably tasty and reasonably priced, and the wine is good because it's straight off the M&S shelves, but the service is terrible! We were there for an hour, which was way longer than we expected. This was because of poor all-round service. While we were there, we heard at least three other complaints, with one couple actually leaving. I'm sure this isn't the sort of 'experience' M&S wants to encourage. Our waiter wasn't polite, wasn't attentive, was blasé and had dirty fingernails (yet still handled the raw Parmesan cheese). Get the staff sorted and the rest will follow.

The Newport store has a range of Womenswear down stairs and menswear upstairs, and the clothing ranges form casual jeans, t-shirts, shirts, and accessories to more formal attire, suits, shirts ties, dresses and shoes. It has brilliant sales in January and the summer, and they cater for a wide taste (however some items would look good on a chav!) Definitely worth a look.

One hint i would tell people is keep your receipt, not just until you get home but for a few months after. Faulty goods can only be returned with a receipt. The neon shirts especially i would advice hand washing (which i hate doing) but the neon fades really quick in the machine. Apart from that it is a well laid out shop with friendly but busy staff. Really nice clothes, bit pricey but well worth checking out during the sales as there are some great bargins to be had. Overall one of the best shops for high fashion clothing in Newport.

Moving on to my review now, away from all personal statistics, this TK Maxx store is located in The Hayes in Cardiff, one of the welsh capital's main shopping streets, really close to the St David's shopping complex. This branch is set over 4 floors, but in some ways the layout is quite confusing, with the ground floor and a slightly raised level on the other side, accessed by a total different lift which is both quite unusual and confusing. It is worth noting that the Men's section is on the top or second floor, with home in the basement. As mentioned in other reviews, it is in a way like a "treasure hunt", with mainly one of every product in each size or at least very few, at least in the clothing, so if you see something you can only pray it is your size, which is really annoying. I class myself as a lazy shopper, I like things being done for me so I strongly dislike the format of TK Maxx, and the staff didn't seem too helpful either, and other than on the ground floor, they basically were so few in number. The store in general was quiet, it felt like a jumble sale due to the layout and didn't have a good vibe. It was also frustrating one of two lifts was out of order, which would cause a slight delay if you needed to use it. Another unusual practice used was that the store opened earlier than it should, I entered on a Sunday and I wanted to checkout and buy something, limited on time as I had a train to catch in a few hours, I was shocked when he said he couldn't serve me, probably due to the Sunday Trading hours (Big shout-out to the SNP who voted against Sunday trading hours being lifted in England despite being able to open when they want in Scotland) - This probably isn't the store's fault but there was no sign for this, and for someone who wants to get in and out of the shop, this was just a stupid policy to have, and with no prior warning was misleading. Sadly due to unusual practices of both this store and the brand in general, I sadly feel this store deserves a single one star.

Granted, we did come during a weekend close to Christmas-time. Combined with the fact that it has multiple stories, you'd probably be hard pressed to find something you *don't* like here. ~ Customer Service: Not bad at all. Despite how busy it was, it still didn't take too long to queue up and pay. Matalan's clothes are generally pretty cheap, but the quality is pretty low too, so it's great for kids clothes (as they grow out of them so quickly) or for things that you'll probably not want to wear next year. The place is always busy, especially when they've got a sale on, or in the run up to Christmas, so be prepared to queue for 15 mins to pay for your items when it's really busy (we've had a trolley full of stuff and left it there, as the queue was so bad once!). Parking is free, and this is not usually a problem, except for the dreaded Christmas period when the whole retail park is mobbed.

For those times when the thought of heading into Cardiff town to dodge leaflets and run the promotional/charitable gauntlet that is Queen Street becomes unbearable there is New Look Barry. The shop itself is pretty small but well stocked and offers all the lovely things from the bigger stores just on a smaller scale. The layout is pretty fantastic and never changes so you if you're in a hurry you know Jeans are in bottom left corner, accessories bottom right and sale rail somewhere in the middle. It's staffed by your generic young pretty girly types but they don't seem to have the attitude problems of their counterparts in the bigger stores. It must be something to do with the reduced stress levels of working in a smaller environment. When I wanted to return a size 6 top (picked up in error, not wishful thinking on my size 12 part) they exchanged it with minimal fuss and lightening fast speed. The good thing is queues really aren't too hectic in the week but a Saturday afternoon is a bit of a living hell, expect plenty of elbow jostling and cat fighting if you shop there on the weekends (and that's just from me). The downside is that because of the smaller space there is a more limited selection but I go a bit mad in the face of too much choice anyway.
