I cannot thank Matthew's enough. I have been wanting a new tattoo for some time and since I have been in Johnstown more times than not lately I decided to give Matthew's a try. The day I arrived I had an idea of what I wanted but it wasn't set in stone just yet. I wanted lettering done in the old looking typewriter format. I searched their books to find the one that was closest to the format. I found ideally what I wanted and even though I was a walk in, I was in the waiting room within minutes. The size of my tattoo was small, so they were able to fit me in. I appreciate that. The waiting room is a bit confusing right now. They are in the middle of updating it to make it look less like a waiting room. While you wait you can do the usual and read a magazine or play around on your phone. Or if you like, walk around their taxidermy room. Yes, that's right, they have a taxidermy room. How awkwardly cool is that? The skulls are pretty awesome, especially the ones that have designs painted on them. Talk about different and one of a kind, this truly is an example of that. Once back in the chair things went rather smoothly. My anxiety was put at ease at how fast and efficient they work. Everything was done in what seemed like mere minutes to me. This being my eighth tattoo and by far the least complicated and smallest in size. I was very pleased to say the least. DO NOT GET A TATTOO HERE!!!! They are a bunch of crooks!! Paid $90 for a small yin yang tattoo that is less than 3 inches wide and the guy (I believe it was his son) messed up my tattoo while tracing around the circle and said NOTHING about it. And the color faded very quickly. Please don't make the same mistake I did by trusting these people. read more

Horrible customer service, they charge for touch ups, they don't care a bout their Consumer, all they want is to take your money to pay his bills, i spent well over 1k in this shop and i was treated like garbage for asking if he could take a few dollars less then what he said it would be, as a loyal customer, and i got told rudely to leave, his work is good, but he lacks customer appreciation. read more

I went here twice, both for piercings. Both times my piercings got infected no matter how I cleaned them, how much, or what I used. The first time I went there, I got my nose pierced and Michael didn't give me any warnings or information. He just went to town roughly cleaning my nose and when I flinched from not knowing what was about to happen and the sheer force he used, he got an attitude with me and told me if I wouldn't sit still, he wouldn't do any work on me. He never showed me the jewlery either time or the needle to assure me it was all clean, which is partly my fault for not asking. But he should be on top of this, providing information and making clients feel at ease. The second time I went there to get my lip pierced because I thought maybe I did something wrong with my nose piercing to cause it to get infected. Nope. Same thing happend to my lip. And this was my second lip piercing (spider bites) so I know what to expect from it and how to take care of it and it still got infected. I don't see what everyone loves about this place. I want to go somewhere I feel comfortable, not somewhere where I'm going to be treated like a nuisance. Chuck at Screaming Needle is the best and will remian to be my tattooer/piercer. read more
